Considering it's basically a windows tablet without a screen it seems a little expensive.

So if you connect this to a TV, you can get Windows on it?

Yes, it's just a tiny computer that can plug into a tv or monitor. Like a normal pc you still need a way to control it like a keyboard and mouse.

Heat, would this be able to pass through dts-hd audio to my receiver?
Hmm good question, you'd think the intel might have better support and updates but you can't rely on that... certainly the intel gets mixed reviews and I suspect this one is much the same performance wise. Great idea but do your research to set expectations.

from what understand both this & the intel stick have issues with Bluetooth keyboards. (some work some don't)
I think this might more of a Windows software issue rather than a hardware problem.
Also the is a Linux version of the intel stick cheaper but with less RAM & storage.
I'm tempted to buy the intel stick windows version as its 2GB RAM and install quasi Ubuntu 14.04.3 LTS as i understand Ubuntu does not have the issues Windows does with bluetooth Keyboards.
