These are 100% Vestel. They also make Toshiba, Hitachi, JVC, some Sharp and a host of supermarket own brand sets.
While there's nothing wrong with Vestel TV's its wrong for premium manufacturers to but their name on them and mislead the customer into thinking they're purchasing a premium product. A proper Panasonic made TV will be vastly superior to anything Vestel produce. I've seen inside a lot of Panasonic TV's and number of Vestels and there is no comparison. Vestels are build with cheapness in mind with cheap components often running at their technical limits, which is why they fail so often. Panasonic TV's, even their cheapest models are over engineered with quality components with longevity in mind.

well i got it...and i`m not thrilled. First of all the colours are not that vivid, even tough i went through all the options, i watched a movie last night and when the action was...fast i could see refresh pixels. I have downloaded the panasonic tv app for my android but it can`t find the tv....wrote to panasonic on facebook but no answer. My laptop can`t conect with the tv through wireless network which i tought it`s possible with a smart tv. the internet menu with the apps and stuff is very slow and i m not sure but i don` t know if i can add apps other then the ones pre installed. In the description it says it`s a LED but on the box it says LCD and i do know there is a difference between the 2. I am seriously thinking of returning this as ......is just not the quality i expected to have ... or maybe anyone can explain some of the above to me...

Probably not in the scheme of things but in this instance it is the arrogance of Panasonic passing off someone else's television as there own. If you bought a BMW would you not expect it to have been built by BMW with a BMW engine and not made by some eastern european automotive manufacturer.
I bought a 22" Logik tv a while back. It had a nice screen and was ok apart from the sound. Plugged in some external speakers and the output socket was faulty. I took it back. Shame really as the screen was really crips and bright. I actually bought a Panasonic about 4 years ago, 32" for the bedroom. After a couple of days I said to my wife does the picture look a bit out of focus. It did. We just thought it was us but the next day it had a green line appear on the screen. The line was a bit hazy, you could only just see it. I took it back to Argos and got a full refund. I was disappointed as I always wanted a Panasonic tv but I won't touch their brand again for tv's. An early Vestel perhaps, I don't know. I have a Logik freezer which is ok, but it's noisy. It had the best designed drawers in our price range and that's why we bought it. Luckily it's sat in the utility at the back of the house so can't hear it. Would still buy it again though.
On televisions I don't think it matters what you buy for the bedrooms, utility, kitchen etc but for the living room I think you need to buy the best brand name you can afford, or not afford in most cases lol. I bought a new tv in January for the living room. It's an LG and I hate it. I am constantly twiddling with the settings and it's either faulty or there's something interfering with it or our tv signal. On HD channels and dvd's it's fine but the upscaling of the SD channels are terrible. Very bad judder on some programmes particularly on slow panning. I have not noticed DSE (dirty screen effect) on any other tv I have had but it's awful on this one. It sometimes looks a bit out of focus as well. Then at other times it looks amazing. Not really sure what's going on with it but I may bring my old tv down from upstairs and plug it in for a few days. The tv is an LG50LB650V. Note to anyone wishing to buy a WEBOS tv, think again. The concept is good but in reality it's rubbish. It takes ages to load and you have to access the prgramme guide to access the satellite tuner. It's a real bad design. Go try it first in the shop. Apologies to anyone who has WEBOS and likes it. This is my opinion and if you like it, well that's your opinion but I will not be having another one. The programme guide and setting up using the curser and clicking ok is stupid too. It's a crazy system. There was nothing wrong with the way the older LG's work, same as every other tv manufacturer. Some designs are never changed because they actually work.
Also it's very hard to get a sky remote code for a vestel tv. They need to do more uk research and find out what people want. Why they can't just use the same remotes codes as LG, Samsung etc is beyond me. I have an old Samsung tv/monitor which was purchased before tv's went shiny black and the remote from that works my newer Samsung which is about 7 years younger. I hav a five year old LG upstairs and the remote works the new tv I bought in January. Sky remotes codes no problem for all.

Well i have had my Sony KD-49X8309C up and running for a week now and im still very impressed by the picture quality but i am having some serious software issues, The menu to adjust all the settings picture and sound etc will only stay on the screen for about 2 seconds which doesn't give enough time to adjust anything and it keeps randomly playing music on google music which generally pops up a couple of times a night! It also randomly displays the chromecast screen but you can press the back button which gets rid of it but is very annoying to say the least. I am going to take it back to Curry's for a full refund tomorrow.

Thank you. It's been driving me crazy. I have a youview box also and on mine you can alter the output down to 720, not sure if this is just for hd or for downscaling but it seemed to improve it a little but not altogether. I was paranoid that it had something to do with LG's upscaling system but looks like it's something with the actual programme as there shouldn't be any frame issues on a plasma. I must have spent hours twiddling with the settings and I do have a perfect picture but some are jerky.
You actually hit the nail on the head, missing frames. That was the description I was looking for. I can now settle at last knowing there isn't something wrong with my tv. I also thought it was worse since the software update in July and was going to revert to the previous one but perhaps I should just leave it alone and buy my wife the box sets of relic hunter.
Thanks for your post.

Decided to take up your offer! Just tuned in to Relic Hunter and I agree it's uncomfortable to watch.
I don't think it's a problem with your TV, just a really nasty encode. There seems to be frames missing and it's very noticeable on the panning shots. It doesn't help that the programme also has excessive artificial shaky-cam. It bounces all over the place in random directions and motions.
I viewed it on a Panasonic UT50 (2012 Plasma) connected to a Youview box outputting @ 1080p/50hz.
The adverts on Pick were fine though so it's not a broadcasting issue.

LG's are plaged by terrible motion and judder issues, along with a not so good image processor for upscaling.[/quote]
My last LG's were ok. I paid £750 !! for a 42" back in early 2008. I sold it this year in February as the tuner was playing up. Evidently a fault on this model but it had served us well for 7 years, being our living room tv for about 2 or 3 years before being moved up to the bedroom when it was replaced with a basic 47" model. Both tv's were ok. Nice picture with only a bit of pixellation when watching fast panning shots.
I bought a 50LB650v in January as I thought it was a good spec tv for £499.00. Technical reviews were very good and didn't buy the equivalent Samsung 50" for the reason the tech reviews said it was awful. Can't remember the model of the Samsung but it was about £30 more than the LG and think it was a 6200. There was nothing wrong with the 47" LG I had in my living room but wanted it for a games room. Two weeks later the 42" in the bedroom started playing up (typical) so bought an LGLB585v which was on offer in Currys. Now my dad had bought the 580v about 6 months before and every time I went round to his I just couldn't take my eyes off the picture. It looked amazing. The 585v is the same tv but comes with wifi and magic remote. I did notice they had changed the colour but that was all that was different.
I am extremely disappointed with both LG's. They run off different aerials so it can't be that. I get the same transmission as my dad does. They both play extremely well on dvd and have no complaints. It's just some programmes are really really bad and unwatchable. I can be watching Pick, Drama and it will judder all the time. The adverts come on and it's fine so must be something to do with how the tv's want to upscale the programme that's being transmitted. I can live with the 42" in the bedroom but I don't think I will be keeping the living room tv for long. What I can't understand is the picture is really crisp and clear but then it judders. I watched Ice Age 2 the other day and it was amazing. Perfect even, like playing a video game. Just watching Hawaii 5 O now on Pick with no complaints. My wife has just been watching something on the Drama channel upstairs and she's had to turn it over. Was watching Eggheads tonight on BBC2 and that was juddery also and that's just a quiz show without any fast panning but it judders on slow panning shots also but not all the time. It's doing my head in but I can't say it's faulty because it is perfect on some programmes. Looks like the clever boys at LG need to go back to the drawing board. It's worse after the firmware update in July. I have played about with all the setting. De-judder and de-blur don't seem to make any difference where they are set. Have turned tru motion on / off, tried all the different presets to no avail.
What is really annoying is the tv I wanted was the Sony W705 but it was £679 at the time and just couldn't justify the extra. 2 months later I could have got one for just £50 more than the LG. Now that's annoying. Also annoying that 2 weeks after I bought the 50" tv the bedroom tv started to play up.
So I have been a supporter of LG for more than 7 years and just bought their new flagship phone (LG G4) which also is not without issues, nothing major but just lacks a little Samsung finesse, but I will be reluctant in buying their products in the future. Next time it will be a trip to Richer Sounds and take a demo in their back room where I can see what it's like on an aerial which is how most us watch tv who don't have sky or cable. Just for the record my tv has a satellite input. I tried it on that viewing Relic Hunter on Pick tv and it was just the same. LG have also made a right mess of how to use the satellite input feature on this and other WEBOS tv's. It's awful and has to be accessed through the programme guide. It's really bad as it should be their under inputs like it was on the old models.

Yes and no, all tv's will be in store mode if the staff set them up correctly. Most will have there own feed, be it HDMI or USB. They show the best of what the tv can do in store mode (straight out the box with no configuration). Of course any tv you look at you can change the settings to make it better to you. However as stated on the shop floor they are in default mode.
LG's are plaged by terrible motion and judder issues, along with a not so good image processor for upscaling.

Sony's always look good lol.....Someone I knew who worked in a store told me they made sure the tv's they wanted to sell first were always properly set up. Not sure if this is true or not or that some tv's look better straight out of the box than others. I remember going to Currys a few years ago with my dad and seeing the two tv's he had in mind next to each other. He preferred one to the other so I picked up the remote and did a bit of adjusting. In the end he bought the one I adjusted. I may have picked a bad model of LG and do hope the buyer of the 49" UF770v posted above is ok but I have really been put off by the quality of my webos tv and doubt if I will buy LG again. I spent hours fiddling with it and on dark scenes the blacks look grey and appear like the screen is dusty (dirty screen effect). Not to mention the judder in post above. Never had this on my HD ready LG's.
Smartguy1
4 Sep 15#91
Yes the tv's do look good in the store don't they when they are set up for store mode and running the store's hd loop on hdmi or by usb. It's when you get them home you realise that although the hd channels are excellent there are issues in the upscaling of some programmes transmitted in standard definitions. Judder is most frequent and unfortunately on my LG's you can't turn the upscaling off. I purchased two new LG's this year both 1080 which replaced the 720 HD ready tv's which didn't have the upscaling. I have the same issues on both tv's. On the old tv's I had minor pixellation on fast moving shots which the new tv's cope with better. However slow panning shots are awful. Relic Hunter for some reason on Pick tv, channel 11 is almost unwatchable due to the judder. Also dirty screen effect on my LG50LB650v is bad. That p'd off with both tv's am actually thinking of selling the 650 which is a shame as it has quite good sound for a thin panel and picture is crystal sharp, it just judders and twitches. Definitely has to be the upscaling effect because it's fine on dvd and hd programmes. This could be the case on tv's other than LG so ask anyone reading please tune in to Pick channel 11 on freeview next time Relic Hunter is on (usually 7pm weekdays) and tell me what it's like on your tv.

The TV set i recently purchased through Amazon lightning deals £515:
Sony KDL-50W805C 50-Inch 3D Smart 1080p Full HD TV (2015 Model) [Energy Class A+]
Panasonic Viera TX-48CX400B versus Sony KDL-50W805C?

terrible, terrible TV.
The remote cant be programmed to sky codes as its a vestel, the sound needs to be on 50-60 to be even audible.
Menus are pana type ones, picture isnt that bad but a bit washed out....would probably sell for £200 less as a vestel, so not right to charge about £600 for it.
Fair enough it it WAS at the lower price, but it just comes across as a cheapo set with some fancy advertising flyers and its a bit of a con- which is a shame given the decent quality of panas other entry or mid range sets from the last few years.

I lost count of the tvs i looked at over the last week but nothing came close to the Sony in that price range and as Currys were doing the 5 year warranty at no extra cost i decided to go for it! There was also another offer which finished on the 31st August for a free Playstation Dualshock 4 wireless controller supplied direct by Sony as part of the deal on the tv. I declined the offer from Currys of buying 2 x HDMI 2 leads for £68 though and got 5 x 2m HDMI 2 leads from cpc for £20! And i have since ordered a Yamaha surround system from Richer sounds for £249 just to compliment the new tv!

I looked at the Panasonic TX50CX680B in Richer sounds at the weekend which they were selling for £799 and couldn't believe how bad it was,the lag was shocking with only 200hz compared to my 3 year old 50ins Panasonic plasma with 600hz. I then went to Currys after setting my heart on a Samsung UE48JU6400 for £699 but they also had a Sony KD49X8309CBU on display for £889.00 with 5 years warranty and after speaking to the sales guy who was very knowledgeable he said let me show you why the Sony is £200 dearer and i was totally blown away by the Sony's upscaling and 4k picture which was stunning and made the Samsung look somewhat inferior in every way and even heard another sales person demonstrating how easily the speakers were distorting on the Samsung simply by increasing the volume to a mediocre level! Needless to say i left with the more expensive Sony. At the end of the day you pay your money and take your choice and for me it was worth spending the extra and going home with a tv that blew me away.

I was thinking of buying Sony earlier this year but I just couldn't justify the extra £200.00. After buying the LG I now realise why the Sony was £200.00 more. The annoying thing is two months after buying the LG the Sony came down to just £50 more than I paid for the LG as a newer model had come out. Sometimes it pays to wait but if you are totally blown away by the quality of your tv then it was money well spent.

If you're going for full HDR / UHD spec the only panels are the 9300/9400 and I'm not a fan of the integrated speakers. Smacks of TV/DVD combo.. Upscaling on the Sony was superb tho, this TV on the other hand was very visibly inferior. Panasonics u gotta start at 700 and they are not HDR ready until 800. That's a good point. I thought Panasonic would give Vestel the spec, design etc but you throw another option into the mix. One that is more likely I think and cheaper for Panasonic. I agree that this will kill their brand. My last CRT was a Toshiba. It was a lovely set and had it for about 10 years. I wouldn't have bought anything else but when LCD screens came out I couldn't afford a decent name and bought a Pentus from Currys. It was a whopping £450 for a 32". It was used in the living room for about a year, it was too small and I bought a 42" and moved the 32" into the bedroom. It last about another year with very little use and went bang. I said never again would I buy a non-branded tv and never did. My last LG was nearly 8 years old before it was starting to play up. It still worked but had an issue on the tuner. I have another LG as well which is about 4 years old and replaced it this year with a smart tv, also LG. To be honest am not that keen on the new range of LG's compared with my old ones. The screens are sharper and brighter but I have judder which I didn't have on the older ones. A bit of pixellation now and then but no judder. Both my living room and main bedroom tv's were replaced this year with new LG's but not 100% happy with them in comparison. It may have something to do with the upscaling effects as they are ok on hd and dvd but on normal sd they are not as good. May be me being picky but the worst programme is Pick, channel 11 watching Relic Hunter. It's almost unwatchable. Damn gone off on a tangent again.
I noticed about Toshiba a while ago when I wanted a new tv for the Utility room. Just wanted something cheap and cheerful really and bought a Logik. I know this is Vestel. It had a lovely picture, sound was a bit poo so put some external speakers on it and found a fault on the output socket so took it back. Was going to get a Toshiba instead and noticed the remote control was identical. Set some cogs in motion and did a bit of research, yes made by Vestel. I bought a Samsung in the end from my local Asda for just £20 more. Least with Samsung and LG you get a nice remote with button I can see lol.
I have always fancied a Panasonic but looks like a lot of older names from my younger years have been snapped up by Vestel. Hitachi, JVC, note sure about Grundig which was a top name in the 80's and not even sure about Sharp or Phillips so for the future I will stick to Samsung or Sony. Who knows in 10 years time Vestel may be the big brand to buy. If they have the specs and the warranty to back it up then why not. Rumour has it that not even all Samsung have a Samsung panel in them and are made by other manufacturers.

Basically Vestel don't manufacture TV's to other companies specifications. Panasonic will have no input at all in the design or manufacture what so ever. Panasonic will basically pick a chassis/design from Vestel's range and that's it. The only thing Panasonic about the TV will be name on the front and rear information sticker but also these newer 4k sets have a menu system that's designed to look like a normal Panasonic but you can tell it just doesn't look right.
Doing this will kill or damage your brand, Toshiba went down the same route four or five years ago and got Vestel to manufacture all but their premium models and it back fired big style due to the amount of returns they had and their reputation nose dived. I would have one if it was backed by a guarantee and was cheap enough, as you say its worth a punt.

Isn't that what Jaguar did with their smaller X-type up to 2009, i.e. it is really a Ford Mondeo. Runs the same floor pan, engine / engine parts, even has some ford branded bits and bobs under the bonnet. Not knocking the Mondeo or Ford here but if I was wanting to buy a Jag then I would expect it to be a Jag, or most of it. Then again looking at the reliability issues I would probably be happier that it was a Ford lol. Premium companies have become premium companies through years of research and development making fine goods that last. No doubt the products made by Vestel are done to Panasonic's specification and design but what about quality control and the control of parts used. Personally I would give it a miss but if the quality of the tv is good then perhaps it's worth a punt considering the guarantee. At least John Lewis and Richer Sounds put their faith in the product unlike Currys and other retailers. Manufacturers know how long their products will last through research and development. Ok some will have failures that have not come to light in R & D but the last thing a manufacturer or retailer wants is warranty claims. It costs them money.

I've heard that Panasonic TVs ending in 00B are made by Vestel. ;-)
By Amazon Customer on 5 July 2015
I bought this TV from Euronics and it was made by Vestel in Turkey. I can't use the smart tv to access the web or apps because a log in screen presents itself with KULLANICI ADI - I tried to use the Panasonic TV app, but it cant find a Vera TV. Apart from all that, the picture quality on HD tv channel excellent and films on NETFLIX are stunning - sound bar required as the sound is poor. Just disappointed that I will have to waste time trying to sort issues out with Panasonic customer services instead of enjoying my purchase.

Does it really matter though? If the picture is good and the warranty is for 5 years, what difference does it make?

It's sad to see Panasonic selling rebadged TVs in this price range. I bought a Panasonic around 6 years ago for this price and it was a tremendous purchase. Served me really well. I wouldn't buy a 'Vestel' for this kind of money, so why would I buy a Vestel with a Panasonic badge on it? Cold.

Why is everyone recommending Samsung. You guys should be taking a look at Sony this year! All the reviews they are getting, best 4k upscaler, best pictures.
Think everyone need to get off this Samsung band wagon and actually go view the Samsung range within stores and see how they are not as great as people make out.... Cheaper, yes.

Many reports show that the benefits of 4k on smaller screen will not be noticeable compared to 1080p once you get past a certain distance. You would have to sit quite close to benefit. Have a look various viewing distance calculator tools. Google is your friend :-)

I have this TV, but mine was cheap, mine was £579 from Tesco, used club card vouchers and staff discount and paid £455, then sold my Samsung plasma 3d TV for £200 so this cost me £255 really. It's great !! The pictures look 'live' and the quality is ace! This is defiantly a good buy with the john Lewis guarantee, my review is up in Tesco direct too. Be aware you may need a new TV stand as the legs being far apart I had to get a mounted stand

LG's are plaged by terrible motion and judder issues, along with a not so good image processor for upscaling.
(Joking of course... good deal for a 4K Panny!)
I need advice on comparison, which would you rather own?
The TV set i recently purchased through Amazon lightning deals £515:

Panasonic Viera TX-48CX400B versus Sony KDL-50W805C?
The Sony set is now £599. Should i return the unopened TV set for this 4k Panasonic.
Or does the Sony apart from not having 4k blow this Panasonic away ...
2 inches bigger
Playing genesis via the kodi app with only an ethernet cable plugged in meaning no boxes or dongles is great
Play android games natively
800 vs 200hz refresh
Good sound
Great picture
The remote cant be programmed to sky codes as its a vestel, the sound needs to be on 50-60 to be even audible.
Menus are pana type ones, picture isnt that bad but a bit washed out....would probably sell for £200 less as a vestel, so not right to charge about £600 for it.
Fair enough it it WAS at the lower price, but it just comes across as a cheapo set with some fancy advertising flyers and its a bit of a con- which is a shame given the decent quality of panas other entry or mid range sets from the last few years.
I don't think Richer Sounds have it as yet
Everything about it was awful so it went straight back - once bitten!
