Giant defy 0 reduced to 799 is a fantastic price. Unbelievable spec for that price and great reviews. The 2016 model must be due out but this bike is hard to better for that price. I took one for a test run a few weeks ago and it was outstanding. If only my back could take riding a road bike!!!. Stick to my hybrid. lol

Or is it that things come at different prices? Plenty of bikes out there for less than your car cost, and plenty of cars cost more than this bike.

why do you think Carbon is so good? it depends how well made it is. I would take a quality hydroformed Alloy Frame like this Giant, any day of the week over a cheap carbon frame. not all carbon is created equal.

Maybe consider a Gran Fondo style bike, a slightly more relaxed less aggressive riding position. I have a Canyon Endurace, however there are many other brands offering this style of bike.

Yes but its nearly £280 less and Sora would be good and had a good review with a reviewed weight of 8.8 kgs is nice.
Just checked the two that were available have gone some thought they were good value.

Carbon vs Aluminum is a lot more than material but quality, geometry, feel, ride quality, a ton of things. Carbon doesn't instantly make a bike greater.
Giant make some of the most well regarded aluminum frames.

If it's your first bike I would go with the Triban 500se for £299. Depends on your budget and what you want to use it for.
Also the specialized only has alloy fork. You can get far better at that price point.

SPEND 250 MORE and Cube Agree GTC Race Road Bike 2014 from chainreation which has parts which wont need upgrading.
if you're gonna spend 800 for half a job might as well splash out 250 extra and go the whole hog imo

Suggest a basic book on economics; it's all about supply and demand plus profit.
Perfumes & aftershaves are a classic case - one of the few products where sales increase if the price increases - people perceive it must be good if it costs allot - but in reality the cost of the product is next to nothing - costs come from marketing, packaging & of course a vast profit...

Try picking your Micra up and taking it up a flight of stairs.
Try filtering between two lanes of traffic.
Doesn't seem confusing at all - bike is WAY better than the car*.

Nothing wrong with a decent aluminium frame (which this is) and what the heck is wrong with 105 and Ultegra??? Wheels can be upgraded at a later date if need be. VERY DECENT ROAD BIKE IMO :stuck_out_tongue:.
