Not posted a deal for a while so apologies if I've cocked up. Seems like a cracking deal to me. The phone seems to be selling for £350-£400 on its own so £258 over 12mths with calls, texts and dat thrown in makes it a bit of a no-brainer if you were looking at the P8 anyway.
It's on CPW's new iD Mobile service (runs on Three) and, unusually for a contract, is just for 12 months.

Some of you bunch of moaning, greedy and ungrateful bleeps!
You Moan about the slightest things wrong with the phone, saying its not as good as a £550 Samsung or iPhone, but then some of you still have the cheek to sell them on eBay for in-excess of £350!
The phone is practically free, you moan the networks not right, customer service is poor. You are paying £21 for a top of the range phone over 12 months, with a price plan that could easily be paying the same for over 24 months!
This website makes me want to scream at times, with the amount of ignorant people on here, who expect the best for nothing!

I've had mine for a couple of days, was a bit worried coming from Cyanogenmod 11 on an SGS2, there wasn't really any need to be.
I unlocked the bootloader, flashed CWM, rooted, installed busybox and then installed apex launcher.
After that, I removed all the useless apps, set a data limit (Install Activity Launcher from Play Store > Settings > Data Usage and set the limit) make sure to change the cycle to start on the first day of your billing period. If you long press on Data Usage you can add a shortcut to the homescreen.
cancelled on the 12th May with termination on 9th june. The other day i got a letter in the post stating my account was £43 in arrears!
phoned them 7 times today and not getting any response as there systems to the accounts are down :disappointed:
anyone got any experience of how to deal with customer services like this?

Best to confirm your DD with them is also cancelled at your bank - this can normally be done via your bank account online.

I have ported out my number 16 June to Life mobile. I have received my bill for June via email. The bill showing Monthly charge 25,50 for 16/06-15/07 and some roaming charges for 16/05-15/06. We have paid monthly plan charge in advance. So there is no reason to pay one month in advance again.

I got my contract from 16th june 2015 and my last bill was 15th may 2016. This last bill was paid by direct debit on 2nd june 2016 and i transferred the number to another network on 13th june 2016 hence disconnecting automatically from their service. After disconnection their app stopped working and i have not reveived any final bill by email or post. Hence i cancelled their direct debit from my bank account to avoid any further hassles.

This is the answer from cs .
Thank you for contacting iD Mobile customer service.
My apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused.
At the current moment we do not have the upgrade option available, this
is something that we are currently working on and should be available in
the next month or two.
When you have reached your contract end date it will switch over to a
monthly rolling contract.
For any further questions please feel free to call our Customer Services

20 May 16#1430
I called them up today. No upgrade for me either. I have asked to be put on SIM only plan and they said it is not possible. You need to transfer to other network and apply online for new contract/credit check. Sounds like joke but I have spoken with two different people. Both confirmed . Time to leave soon.
winchman
20 May 16#1429
They try to scare people into a 13 month contract to avoid a termination fee, but if you complete the 12 months there should be no termination fee. It seems to me that when you phone up 30 days before the end of contract, and give 30 days notice, they automatically apply a termination fee of 30 days line rental. What should happen, is this fee should reduce everyday so that it is zero on the last day of the contract. It would appear iDmobile and others, having applied a fee do not reduce the amount.
If you cancelled 40 days before the end of a contract for example, what they should do is charge you 10 days early termination fee, this would then cover the last 10 days of the contract you would not pay.
bops
20 May 16#1428
So I called them up gave my notice and they accepted, then I asked for PAC they said you will incur early termination fee and said to avoid I'd have to call back again a few days before the last day of my contract.
I also asked for an upgrade and they said I couldn't have one, then I asked to be put on SIM only and they said I'd have to leave the network for atleast 48 hours then rejoin otherwise they couldn't do it, sounds very strange not sure if is true
winchman
15 May 16#1427
As you have asked for your PAC 30 days before the end of the contract, you will have to use before the end of the contract, because leaving it to day 30, they will almost certainly say it's too late. If you use it 2 or 3 days before the end, they will probably charge to your account 2 or 3 days worth of an early termination charge. Just keep hassling til they remove it, you would have paid line rental in advance to the last day of the contract already, so should not also be charged an ETC.
alxdenisov
15 May 16#1426
I called them today so 30 days from now is 14th of June which is the contract end date as shown on their app. I said I want to keep the number and so they generated a PAC code straight away and gave to me. They said no other cancellation request is required and transferring the number to other provider would cancel the contract. They did not mention about any additional charges though I asked them thrice, only said a final bill will be generated. Also said contract cancellation request is not generated if you ask for a PAC code, its "either/or" which is strange. Hope it ends well!!!
All, please keep posted your experiences.

bellboys
12 May 16#1418
I just hope everyone who took up this deal on here remembers to cancel the contract when it's up because the 12 month duration is what made this deal such a sweet one. Less than 260 quid in total (including a half decent contract) for a phone that cost almost 400 spondoolics at the time and still goes for decent money 12 months on. Some super cheap SIM Only deals out there at present...

Just thought i'd add a quick note here about the Huawei VIP replacement service.
My phone was resetting periodically, so was going to see if i could get it checked/repaired/replaced.
checked here: https://www.huaweivipservice.co.uk/ and was surprised to see the device was eligible.
New device received next day, old device taken by delivery driver.
That's it really!
They do make a £150 pre-authorisation on your credit card in case the returned device is out of warranty, but mine had a bump in the bezel where i dropped it and it didn't affect anything.
Now I have a shiny new looking P8 (maybe refurbished i guess?), considering selling it and upgrading anyway though

i called in twice to cancel. First time was when there were 32 days remaining. So when i asked which date it would end i would've lost 2 days service. No mention of early termination charge. So i opted to cancel the 30 days notice & called back 2 days later to get the full 12 months service. No additional fee mentioned at all.
So if anyone calls back too early they may try to hit u with early termination fee & you will lose out on potentially days of service you have paid for as part of 12 months contract.
winchman
10 May 16#1408
Perhaps as its written down for people to read they are more guarded, and don't try it on. According to the T&C's they say to give them written notice if you wish to cancel. They then say, https://www.idmobile.co.uk/legal/terms-and-conditions
To terminate:
8.1.1 you by giving us 30 days written notice in accordance with Clause 8.5 below. Unless you have ended the Agreement in accordance with Clause 8.2 or Clause 8.5 below, you must immediately pay us the Charges including any monthly (or other periodic) line rental charges for any remaining Minimum Period. You must pay the Charges during the notice period.
8.8 If you wish to terminate this Agreement, please call our customer services on 03330037777 and we will advise you of what you have to do. Alternatively, you may email us at http://www.idmobile.co.uk/contactus or write to us at the address set out in Clause 16.1.1. In all instances, you must state your name, address, mobile phone number and account number.
There should be no 'early termination charge' if you complete the contract. http://stakeholders.ofcom.org.uk/consultations/addcharges/pes_statement

FYI
I asked ID about all this on twitter earlier and they were much more helpful than the call centre.
+ They said to get in touch again if I have any problems with the final bill etc
winchman
9 May 16#1406
I gave 30 days notice as not worried about the number, I presume they said the same thing to you about the extra early termination charge. I just keep repeating that i was giving my 30 days notice and the contract would be completed so there was no reason to add the charge to my bill. They said it happens automatically as I am still within contract. There should be an OFCOM rule that stops them doing this in the last month, the same as they do for energy contracts in the last 60 days i think it is.
winchman
9 May 161#1405
If you want to keep your number, phone up and ask for your PAC(lasts 30 days) in 2 or 3 days, you can then complete the full 12 months and will have a few days after to transfer your number with your PAC. If you ask for your PAC now, you won't have any days beyond the end of the 12 months to use it as it only lasts 30 days. You need to leave a few days left on the PAC after the end of your 12 months as you might not get the number transferred precisely on the day you want.
kng138g
9 May 16#1404
I called and gave 30 days notice. Was told I could wait 30 days and callback if I want a pac no. Not fussed about keeping the same no so I just continued with cancellation as il probably forget to callback in 30 days.

Your 12th bill will be published now and payed by the end of this month, so that includes the last line rental.
Any charges outside your contract will be taken next month on your 13th and final bill once the contract is finished, but should not include any more line rental.
There is a £5 a month sim only via uswitch 250mins 1.5gb.

9 May 16#1402
I spoke to them yesterday, they said that I should phone them when there is less than a month to go and request a PAC code and then use this on the day of the end of my contract. I asked why I could not just give them notice that I wanted to leave but they did not seem to have the facility to do this without incurring the penalty you mentioned. Could not be bothered to argue - will most likely get the PAC code and switch a few days before my contract comes to an end.

I did, it all seems incredibly vague though, no confirmation email/text from them regarding cancellation, they tried to tell me there would be a £22 early termination fee (which i argued and they backed out of eventually), couldn't give me my final bill date (should be this months i guess as it is the 12th bill?)

No. I updated to B162 a couple of weeks ago I think. Just read the change log for the B170 and looking forward to the double tap to wake functionality.
It's a shame they've removed the touch plus functionality though. Don't understand why the touch plus screen protectors weren't more widely available. I was still kinda hoping they'd release more and make them a little cheaper.
Astec123 to cegueira
18 Aug 15#1352
No, I didn't even get told of the update before that one. I only noticed it in error when I went looking at the version numbers. On the plus side I finally have working SMS which was not working at all on the version before.
What? That's a real pain, as I fancied picking one up in the coming few months to try it out as I dislike the on screen ones taking up screen space just to function as 3 buttons.
Check your battery usage chart and see what's draining it. I find this happens when an app goes rogue and doesn't kill itself. The Huawei power usage alerts are quite useful for that very reason as I've had a few apps on my old Nexus 4 and 5 did this and took away half the battery as a result because I'd not taken the phone out of my pocket for a couple of hours.

I can get 4-5 hours screen time on my phone and the battery is more than good enough for me during working hours.
Like you, the signal for ID mobile (and 3) is woeful for me and I struggle getting a signal indoors. When I had the ID mobile sim in my phone "Mobile standby" was consuming the most battery. This was probably due to the rubbish signal.
Since I put my Vodafone sim in the phone "Mobile standby" has fallen down the list as I get a good consistent 4G signal (even indoors).
I see you're getting rubbish battery life with an EE sim in your phone which leads me to think you must have a faulty battery in your phone. I've had the same issue with a Samsung and Motorola phone in the past. You should take it back to Carphone Warehouse and see if they replace the phone for you or at least fix it.

Well they could have encrypted the data! They seem to be shifting the responsibility onto us when it's their fault, a very hefty fine should be going their way from the ICO, and any financial repercussions for the users should be covered by them, whether this will happen is anyones guess.

To be honest, id do a full factory reset.
Then don't install any apps at all.
See how your battery is like that.
Then if it is OK, install apps one at a time, maybe then you will notice which (if any) is causing your problems.

you can scroll down on the notifications shortcuts, and right at the bottom there's an edit button.
Not sure about the video screen thing, guess it depends on where you are playing it from

I'll check the honor 6 tonight, it's the emui phone management app, can't remember what it's called.
Infiltrator to Infiltrator
30 Jul 15#1324
The emui app is called phone manager, there's a battery saving option and once in there if you swipe the screen to the left it takes you to all the apps that use power in the background. Even the different battery saving options are quite useful.
I am assuming the phone manager on the honor 6 is on the P8, they're both using emui 3.
Gavin01
30 Jul 15#1321
The only thing I can see is to force stop
Infiltrator
30 Jul 15#1320
Not force stop, my honor 6 (emui 3) allowed you to control which apps were running in the background - I found the battery management features in emui 3 really good, the honor 6 is a 2 day battery phone that can easily be stretched to 3 days.

28 Jul 15#1311
I'm not familiar with signal boosters, to upgrade I downloaded this: http://android-host.de/HUAWEI/P8/B132/B132.zip unzipped and placed in dload folder on root of sdcard. Then run emui updater app > Menu > local update. The phone will reboot and then install the update. I didn't lose any data through the update process but it's always worth backing up anything important. After the update you should either delete or rename the dload folder.
Before you do that it's worth checking whether there's an official update available through the app.

27 Jul 15#1309
If you click on Android System do you get a further breakdown of what's using what? I upgraded to the latest emui version, which apparently solved the android system battery reporting issue. Been doing a lot of travelling today, about 100 mins of 720p videos and I'm on 49%.

I was doing anything different to my last phone, I would check the battery section to see if something's using it. If you're rooted betterbatterystats will help you.
I think that Android OS battery usage is reported incorrectly in the stock P8 software version, the culprit may be Settings > Wi-Fi > Advanced settings > scanning always available.

"I feel that I have not been listened to and treated very badly by iD & CPW with nobody taking responsibility and nobody returning calls. With constant emails & calls nothing was done, this includes an email to the director who promised to be in contact personally as soon as possible. If I hadn't spotted the deal on your website again I would still be waiting for a phone. I feel that I should be compensated by bettering my tariff or some other way."
I should note that I ordered the white (mystic champagne) originally and tried to change to the black but they said it wasn't possible. In the end I just ordered the black one as the same tariff was showing up again. Hope this helps.

spent an hour and half in the store returning mine... a young guy (he is the manager) said it is not possible to return online order in store... but he was not pretending anything, he was new. I asked him to call their CS for authorization and he had to do that 3 times.... first time a bafoon CSE said he needs to speak to ID to cancel the contract... then he called ID and they were clueless, and luckily his third call went to someone sensible in cs who guided him through the system. For anyone who is willing to return in store for contract change to 24 months, if you face the same problem returning in store, tell them that no authorization code is required to return at store, they just need to use your phone number when asked for (that's what the guy said he did).

looks like cpw sold 100's of 12 months contract and starting to realize the problem (loosing money). So they will be trying to do everything to change contract for 24 months. One delay with white one, then txt about exchange and again delay. I am sure they have white one in the warehouse but do not want to send it out for customers. CPW thinks people will be cancelling contract cause of waiting time. I know my mates living in Germany and in Poland they have P8 white over 2 weeks now from local mobile provider (24 months upgrade contract). So they are available. There is no stock issue at all.

The phone has arrived it looks great, but they have changed me to a 24 month contract. I have emailed to say it is an unfair contract change as I clearly signed up to a 12 month deal, and that if they try to change my 12 month contract to a 24 month contract I shall cancel my contract on the basis that you are allowed to cancel a contract if the operator makes an unfair change.
I do not want to return the phone and am happy with the 12 month contract I signed up to so I will not return it. Legally they might be committing fraud by changing my contract to the massive detriment of me without informing me. It may just be a big mistake that they will rectify asap, but it looks like a sneaky deceptive con. I have a close relative who is a solicitor so I will give them a couple of days to rectify the situation before asking him for advice.

The case is described as "Original AIXUAN Brand Frosted Matte Glossy Shield Hard Plastic Case Shell Cover + Film Gift"! Sold by a seller called 3C on-Line. I paid about £5 including postage to the UK. Placed the order on 10th June to be sent by bog-standard Chinapost and it arrived on Monday so just a little over 2 weeks delivery.
The Nillkin case was purchased on Amazon from a seller called AceTech. It's the Nillkin Super Frosted Shield Case though they don't actually mention the brand on the River. About 7 quid for that one. Either is pretty sturdy but just a rear hard case as I don't like flip cases. I'd say the Nillkin is a bit better for a grip but the Aixuan has a nicer finish. Both pretty decent.

30 Jun 15#1155
TCB paid for me as well. A pity it was reduced down to £10.50 instead of the original £25 or so!
My Aixuan case has arrived from China as well. Nicely made with an interesting soft-touch texture to the hard case. I think I read somewhere that the finish is similar to the texture of a OnePlusOne phone but I've never handled one of those so can't comment if this is the case or not.
It will be interesting to see how it holds up to wear and tear though it should be noted that I don't put anything in the same pocket as my phone! As I also have the sturdy Nillkin case which I know will last a year or more without wear (based on experience with one on my last phone), I won't be too worried if it degrades at all as I have a handy replacement ready.
Must say I'm enjoying using this phone. By far the highest build quality I've had and the only real pain in the neck is the lack of proper notifications for Google apps. Hopefully this will be resolved in a software update - can't be bothered to download and install the one from the German site at the moment!
How are people rooting this phone, by the way? Is it straightforward enough should I need to root?

They try to refuse to take phones back because it has a negative impact on their in store sales figures and I would guess their bonus, stupid system, not the shops fault if you bought online.
I downloaded it to my PC, unzipped it and transferred it to dload/ on the root of my external SD. I had to flash the original recovery, then run the updater app and use the menu to install a local update. I lost root so had to re-root afterwards.
The update has fixed some problems with notifications, I think this will fix the problems with android wear devices, however I don't have any to test this.

26 Jun 151#1145
Don't expect much. I made complaint via email. It was a simple concept, I ordered 12 months contract, they changed color as I agreed but I specifically stated I was on 12 months and asked them to ensure I get the same with black/grey. Exchanged at least 10 emails. No solution but being told to return the phone. Sent them my order number, screenshot of the confirmation email, quoted this thread. None of it seemed to be helpful, they just wouldn't switch it back to 12 months. Ended up returning the phone to a store. The store staff was also not helpful. They said the store was too small and I had to go to a bigger one. WTF!? Argued with them, gently. Eventually processed in two minutes. Overall, this was the worst shopping experience ever.

''Hi xxx, unfortunately due to continuing Huawei nationwide stock issues, your new Huawei White P8 will now be delivered on 14th July. So it is the 14th of July... till the next postponement.

In my case it's simply a matter of preference. Voicemail is active on my work phone, I don't like it on my private one. No other reasons.
Though if you are likely to reach the limit of your monthly allowance you might consider disabling it to avoid the hefty rates of this ID contract.
Does voicemail come out of the 300 inclusive minutes allowance on this ID tariff, or is there a separate charge for listening to voicemails?
usernamenotavailable to kng138g
24 Jun 15#1130
AFAIK it uses minutes from your allowance until you've used it up, then goes on the extra tariff. And I think it counts twice: one for the time taken by your caller to record the message (the call to your mobile it technically forwarded to another number from your phone, and therefore it counts as call from YOUR phone from that moment), then again for you to listen to the message.
Also if you're on holiday abroad and the voicemail is active, if you don't answer or you're busy on another call and the incoming call is forwarded to your voicemail, that is charged at international roaming tariff (happened to me).
This is actually a second reason why I always disable voicemail on my private phone.
winchman
24 Jun 15#1129
I always disable voicemail because if some wants me they can text or if its so important they will call back anyway. Don't want to pay to hear some random company try and sell me something. Different if it was for business.

Not a special number, just an incomplete number, so when it tries to go to voice mail it fails. If you go to the phone dialpad then settings then to voicemail settings, it gives a list of diverts and the number it goes to, I changed all 3 of them to +4477 and now when you dial the phone number, it now says 'number not recognised'.

I've ordered the Nillkin Super Frosted Shield hard case from AceTech on Amazon. I've got one for my older phone, the Coolpad F1, and have been pleased with it. Slim, well-made, and adding useful 'grip' to the back of the slick phone without much extra bulk or weight. This case is due to arrive tomorrow - only ported my number today so I need a case quickly. This doesn't have a flap, however. I also ordered a hardcase from an Aliexpress seller earlier this month, manufactured by a company called Aixuan which apparently has a softish finish. Only cost me a few quid so I'll have to see how that is and will then pick the best one out of the Nillkin and the Aixuan for me.
The AceTech seller on Amazon seems to have a range of flip cases, most produced by Nillkin, so they ought to be decent enough, providing the cases themselves aren't fakes! Never used this seller before, but their feedback is pretty good so they ought to be OK.

Anyone found a good quality case for this phone yet? I'd like a flip cover type one of possible.
The problem with these cheaper Chinese brands you've never really heard of (such as Zeaplus) is that continued support or a non-buggy OS isn't guaranteed. A couple of years ago, I ordered a phone called the FAEA F1 which was well-built and had a good screen at a great price. FAEA promised an update to Android 4.2 when it was first released but what we actually got was a buggy Android 4.1 device for which some fixes were found by the community (FAEA nowhere to be seen after the F2 was released), but it never worked correctly.
At the other end of the scale, my next phone was the Coolpad F1 which was and still is an excellent device. Coolpad produce regular updates in China which various enthusiasts then use to port various other ROMs (I used MIUI) and it has been probably the most stable Android phone I've ever owned - and I've had a few! I believe a Lollipop release is scheduled for the phone during the next couple of months. If I hadn't wanted a really good camera on my phone, I'd probably have kept the F1 for another year.
The Zeaplus may well turn out to be a very good device, but there is always a risk and don't expect much in the way of software support. At the other end of the scale, you can usually get software updates (often thanks to the enthusiast community) on phones produced by companies such as Coolpad, Lenovo, Xiaomi and even ZTE.
From what I've read, Huawei isn't perfect at producing updates but they are better than many smaller Chinese companies. You're not likely to find a phone as well-built as the P8 at the price available in this iD mobile deal.

It seems CPW have been rejecting cashback for pending orders (white) and reverting cashback to £10 for completed orders (black) till it gets paid in 4weeks4days time from time of tracking (on average, according to TCB retailer stats, so around the 10th July)

Yeah it's iD signal to be clear not the phone itself, house is a complete dead spot just about everywhere and poor signal in few other places I frequent. When it works it certainly works, clocked as high as 76mbps in certain places on 4G, just now the places where I need it!
neoboy
19 Jun 15#1074
Returned mine today due to the signal issues, from all the benchmarks that I've run on it is indeed the GPU that lets it down the most and single thread CPU performance was around 10% to 15% slower than my Snapdragon 800 equipped Note 3. It scored higher on multi-threading naturally being octa-core but didn't seem to translate into real world usage as not many apps use all those cores. Still a solid mid-range performance and low light performance slapped the Note all over the place, sad to see it go but poor signal killed the deal for me.

Three has bad signals in certain areas. As paymonthly customer of Three, you would be able to ask them for a device to be sent to you to boost signal at your house. Not sure if ID would do the same, worth asking though.
Frankly, I think the phone's signal is not bad at all. P8 seems to have stronger signal than my previous phones (I was on Three).

Oppo phones are very well-produced devices but are also usually very expensive!
It looks as though this one is a little cheaper (though still a few hundred quid!) but you end up with a mid-range chipset to reach this price point.
As a comparison, the Kirin 930 in the P8 clocks it's Cortex-A53 clusters at 2GHz and 1.5GHz. The Oppo clocks at 1.5Ghz/1GHz though it will have faster graphics.
Previews indicate the Oppo is pretty good, however.

It is the screen size that is drawing me to the huawei p8 max actually as actually want something that does both which mean I can sell my current tab s 10.5 and not need to carry a phone and tablet all night. When you're having the hiss problems are you making sure that the phone audio output is set to 100%?
I've had a bit of time with the phone too and there are a few downsides, some covered in reviews and others not mentioned but have bothered me:
Lack of 5ghz WiFi we knew about, but an odd cost saving choice not to include.
Poor Bluetooth connectivity - someone else mentioned this, but when using the phone with Bluetooth speakers (FLAC audio via Plex) there's the odd drop-out, then after a few minutes it will drop out continuously until you disconnect/reconnect. Really annoying, hopefully there'll be a fix.
Slight bleed in the corners of the screen, but nothing too bad.
For some reason calls will sometimes go to answerphone rather than ring through. I'm not sure if this is an iD issue or what.
Other than that it's very good and hopefully they'll be able to fix some of these issues in firmware updates.

Had this phone since thursday, been pleased with it so far(great for price) but a few things bothering me.
When using camera phone gets hot very quickly.
Tried loudspeaker in a conversation and every word spoken by other person finished with a bit of a screech.
When i connected phone by aux cable in car there is a very loud hissing background noise(like its a poor recorded cassette), but it works fine when plugging in earphones! .Tried 2 different cables so not those and my nexus 5 and cheapo alcatel doesnt have this problem, cant find anything in sound settings either.

Bluetooth is fine, but there is a widespread mention in most reviews that this doesn't work well with Android Wear due to the Emotion UI. Some even speculate it's because Huawei wants people to buy their watches but could just be poor design of their Android iteration.

So I received my P8 and I really really like this phone.... yes I was gutted its not Dual Sim as it would have been great to ditch my work iPhone and have just one device.

I am an android wear user and the phone connects to my watch fine, but as soon as the screen goes to sleep the phone drops connection to the watch.... is anyone else seeing this problem?
I also had problem connecting to my car handfree system.

I suppose it depends on how they write their contracts.
In theory, you get your phone for free when you sign up to the contract. The contract charge of £21.50 per month will include VAT for the service they provide. If you cancel the contract, you're surely going to be charged for the pre-VAT amount of £17.91 each month but how can they charge you VAT for a service you haven't received? I suppose they might well mention a further penalty charge of £43.00 in the contract for early cancellation to ensure they got the extra money.

Only the two year contracts allow you to use your minutes, texts and data in the 22 countries - like Three does. The 12 month ones charge you at a roaming rate.

The company will also leverage Three's arrangements with networks in countries around the world to offer no roaming charges in 22 countries, which Carphone Warehouse says is more than any other network - including Three UK which offers free roaming to UK customers in 18 countries.
Carphone Warehouse has not revealed which countries specifically it is offering the service in yet.
Even more confusing.....would be lovely to use it abroad and just use the allowance. If there are no additional charges why do they list the charges and not say once you've used allowance up etc etc

However, anyone else find it gets uber hot though? Felt like holding a freshly poured cup of tea earlier.

Got mine now, too - nice build quality, and a lot nicer to use than my lumia 520 (as it should be - it's 3 times the price).
Anyone figure out how to take screenshots on this. Pushing the power and volume down buttons works about 1 time in 10, but not reliably for some reason.
How do people find the sound quality through the speakers, at high volume? Mine goes plenty loud, but above about 50% it really distorts - badly enough that Elastica sound like they have a man singing :disappointed:

Double tap the screen with your knuckle, draw (again with a knuckle) a rectangle and you'll take a screenshot of that area.

The TouchPlus screen protector sounds like a clever idea. Adds capacitive buttons to the bottom and top of the phone including and integrates with the OS. Here's a review of the equivalent one running on the Honor 6:
Getting one in the UK might be a bit of a problem, however. I've just had a quick search and can't find any mention of the thing from retailers over here. Price is likely to be £25 or so, I'd have thought.
I've actually ordered a case from a Chinese seller on Aliexpress. In theory should take a few weeks to arrive but lightweight items can sometimes get to the UK a bit quicker. The brand is Aixuan and I've read good things about the equivalent case for the OnePlusOne.
If that isn't up to much, I'll just get a Nillkin Frosted Shield case. I've been pretty happy with the one I'm using on my current Chinese phone.
Just picked up my P8 from the store and need to play around with it for a bit to be certain I'll keep it. Looks well-built, however.
Hopefully the various minor problems mentioned in the reviews will be fixed with software updates in the coming months. An Android 5.1 upgrade would be nice. As would Android M, for that matter!

Recharging time is my main gripe with the phone (the other one being the sometimes stuttering performance). It took 3 hours from 30% to 100%, that's too long especially considering it's only on a 2.600mAh battery. My previous phone, a mid-tier Xperia SP with slightly lower capacity, did the same in less than 90min on the standard charger.
I have noticed something odd that could be possibly related? The first day I had the phone I didn't put the sim card in. I connected it to wifi but left everything untouched (no settings changed, no accounts registered, no software downloaded). I left the phone on charge overnight and in the morning I checked the battery usage (within the settings). It looks like the phone went 'awake' in the middle of the night and stayed solid awake for 6 hours. I have no explanation for this, and it didn't happen again (phone recharged three times so far), but could that be a reason for abnormal consumption, or slow recharging?

Hi Gavin.I ordered the white one and have has nothing since the oos message and we will run a credit check I the meantime. I decided to phone and don't hold out much hope. They've no confirmation their side even though I received an email from their system. I asked about the status of the credit check to which they couldn't find anything as it was pending. How can it be pending if no order on their system *rolls eyes*.I then got transferred to carphone warehouse sale who know nothing about the 12 month contract phone, only the same deal but 24 months. They apparently replaced my order - for what monthly contract I have no clue. So in summary, I am none the wiser. I wish I'd not bothered but my Honor 6 has to go in for repair and I'm not sure what the outcome will be. The only thing they did make clear was the white was available from the 03/07 and I wouldn't know if the credit check had been approved or not until after this date, if the phone had not arrived by then.

Whilst this is always talked about, in practice I have never had a problem getting an unlocked device fixed under warranty. One phone even went back with cyanogenmod on it.
There is a possibility that you could have warranty problems however I don't really know where you stand legally as you just email them and don't have to read reams of legalese and tick a box. Any problems and I will plead ignorance and if that doesn't work I'll ask them for proof of any agreement that I made to forfeit my warranty.

Be careful, apparently doing this will invalidate the phone's warranty, note the following in the instructions: -

Well had the phone since Thursday and I like it more and more. The camera is great both using the Huawei app and the official Google one. Signal for me has been spot on too, with a VOIP connection being flawless on a train journey that I used to get drop outs on.
I had to reorder on the phone last Tuesday as I had heard nothing back by then. When I finally spoke to someone after much complaining, I was told they could not see why my order had not gone through but it was cancelled. So I reordered back on the 12 month deal and all was good, interestingly they sent me an email yesterday saying I had failed the credit check for the first order :stuck_out_tongue: despite being told by the CEO office it had passed and they would just place the order based on that credit check.
I requested my number be ported on Friday as soon as I got the phone on Thursday and it moved across without any warning and without any noticeable down time on Friday.
All in all very happy.

"Samsung S4 and HTC M7 level components"
Probably should have phrased it better, I never used S4 myself just meant the components in that and HTC are same level as my current Note 3 that I'm using as a stopgap. Only exception is 3GB which is same as Huawei has and while it has scored slightly higher in AnTuTu than the Note, it only done so in multitasking benchmarks which didn't reflect well in real life usage. Note is definitely faster in regular apps and far superior in anything I tested when GPU is also involved. Ran a quick GFXBench and it was more than twice as fast in most benchmarks but those tests only reflect in more demanding games which I rarely play myself and this was for test purposes.
Coming from Honor 6 you should definitely see a good upgrade, the processor is Kirin 930 instead of 920 here. It feels good in your hand (unless you have shovels like me and like chunkier Note ergonomics ) and looks wise wouldn't look out of place next to any flagships. Although my unit does get quite warm when I use it and on a hot side if I'm using it on charge.

Has keeping difficulty keeping up with the S4? That's a laugh, I've ordered it to replace an S4 - what a pile of junk our S4 is - unless you want to use it as a hand warmer. I've an honor 6 just now, fantastic bit of kit, I'm hoping the p8 is as good except thinner, battery might not be as good as the honor 6 but the S4 is hopeless so can't be anywhere as bad as that. Can't comment on the HTC as I've never owned one.

Unfortunately I changed the color last week after the offer was over, and when I called today they confirmed the contract has been changed to 24 months. 14 Jun 15#903
For that price it puts it up against different level of competition though and makes it less of a deal, for my needs anyway. As I said previously nothing will touch it build quality wise even at £250 and camera is great, I'm sure they can fix the white balance/colours with an update and auto brightness issue but it's the performance that ultimately disappoints. Has trouble keeping up with the Samsung S4 and HTC M7 level components that are inside my Note that are two years old now. It's smooth when you're in the ecosystem but inside apps it's a bit of a different story.
Ultimately is the signal part that kills it for me as that makes the phone around £250 price point, which is where I'd rather spend a little extra or go for alternatives and sacrifice things like build quality.

What I also advise that anybody got the same issue of 12-24 months change, don't cancel the order before it arrives... but afterwards. Play with the phone a few days and then throw back on them within cooling period so that their warehouse gets full of customer returned phones. That will be a perfect lesson for them.

It's still a bargain alright, I just got a little too used to higher end devices it seems and it's still a fantastic phone in its on right. The phone is practically free, you moan the networks not right, customer service is poor. You are paying £21 for a top of the range phone over 12 months, with a price plan that could easily be paying the same for over 24 months!

neoboy
14 Jun 153#893
Well after having this for 24 hours I think I will ultimately be returning it under the 14 days policy. Some of it has to do with the kind of phones I am used to, niggles in this one and one that's definitely hard to live with, poor signal in my area.
Build quality on this phone is great and wouldn't look amiss amongst flagships although for such a thin phone it also manages to sound quite hollow on the back. Also this is a personal preference but I don't find it comfortable to hold, actually to do with the thin construction of it and I had the same problem with the Z3 with its rectangular construction shape and flat back. That and seems since I had the Note, anything smaller just seems tiny in my giant gorilla hands :P
Screen seems fine, not far from the AMOLED of my Note 3 although there appears to be a little backlight bleed around the edges that's only really noticeable at night and when looking. I tried using the warm colour temperature as noted in the Anandtech review but it just makes the whites way too yellow. Another strange niggle is that when using auto backlight and manually increasing brightness there's almost no change in the first 3 quarters and then jumps up quite high and hard to adjust due to very steep gradient at that point. I ended up setting it relatively bright and battery barely made it to 4 hours OST. Then again competing against a Note phone on battery life this was never going to win.
Also find the iPhone way of having a back button on screen and no home button on the front hard to get used to and one of the biggest reasons I haven't bought the Apple offering. Rest of the ergonomics are great though and it has the same design as a dual sim phone, one of the ports is just permanently used as a MicroSD slot not sure if that's done at hardware or software level for the UK version.
Performance wise it's also more disappointing than I expected too and I expected mid-range performance. My Note 3 with the Snapdragon 800 which is now 2 generations behind is a lot smoother in general use and far ahead in anything involving GPU use. AnTuTu benchmark and others only tell partial story, this for example gets a rather high score of 45k but when you look closer in real life that means very little. It does score highly on multitasking due to the octa core CPU but bearing in mind that not all the apps are optimised for it, doesn't particularly translate as better performance in everyday usage. It's far behind on Note 3 on the GPU tests and also outperformed between 30% to 40% single thread performance too which is probably why things are smoother on the Note. It does score higher on the RAM tests but again overall it doesn't add much to the bigger picture.
Moving onto the camera it utterly destroys the Note in poor light and dawn/dusk conditions. At night when there's a lot of streetlights Note catches up, but still this has the upper edge even if colours get a little on a cold side. In perfect light or overcast days I'm finding it hard to find a difference quality wise, however, as noted in reviews this produces rather cold colours, too cold for my liking. Playing with the white balance helps in certain situations and makes dusk photographs extra vibrant but on overcast days like today it produces a yellow tinge that just looks unnatural. Do like the camera app though, it's very simple yet has everything you need. Video is average but again something picked up on the reviews and frankly I very rarely made any on my phones.
Also something I didn't realise is that this doesn't have quick charging technology and compared to the Note seems very slow to charge so with the battery being less and slower charging, may not keep up in certain situations for me.
Ultimately what killed it for me though is that I've been inside a few different houses and places in a 15 mile radius and signal, both phone and date is poor. Data seems not much quicker than 3G GiffGaff goodybag I been on, from previous experience of O2 and EE offer great signal and strong 4G in my area.

Since I am in the market for a new phone, I have decided to sell my samsung tab s 10.5" and look toward a phablet or LTE tablet with phone and messaging capabilities instead of carrying two devices around. The two products I can't decide on are samsung tabs LTE 8.4" or huawei p8 max 6.8". I know they are big devices but that's not a problem as can control both with headphones or smart watch when taking or making calls. My only question specification wise, is that, which is better out of the huawei p8 max 6.8" and tab s LTE 8.4".
For quick comparison the huawei p8 max I imagine has better camara with its 13 / 8 mega pixel camera compare to the 8 / 2 mega pixel on the Samsung tab s LTE. The screen on the Samsung tab s LTE is super amoled 2k screen compare to only 1080p screen on the huawei p8 max. I guess it's a choice between taking better pictures or watching video on a better screen. Can't decide guys. Help !!!!!

I was told the exact same thing. Double checked the 12 month bit with the guy on the phone yet it did change to 24 months. And then I was told they couldn't sort it and I had to make a complaint online.
Decided just to cancel the whole thing and get a Lenovo K3 Note as it's Dual Sim.

12 Jun 15#799
Carphone Warehouse and ID are a joke. My sim hasn't been activated and I've been passed back and forth for over an hour after waiting 24 hours for a response.
Now CPW tell me I need to return the phone for a return and resale. I said essentially then I would need a new contract and the 12 month offer is no longer available so it would be 24 months.
What can I do? If I don't go in will I be charged full price for the handset?
dobo to dobo
14 Jun 15#872
Don't suppose anyone has any ideas about this? I can either draft a complaint letter/e-mail or just hold on to the phone and see what happens. I don't fancy being charged the full sim-free price (£379.99...) quoted on their website if it doesn't go back within the 14 days.

Picked mine up today, haven't had a proper play yet but the camera does blow my Note 3 out the water in even slightly lower light situations, can provide a few comparison shots if anyone is interested. Only issue I found with the camera is the the default auto white balance is way off and colours come out very cold. Changing it helps massively but would be appreciated if it worked better on auto settings, hopefully something to look at in the updates just have to see how good Huawei is with those.

I didn't change because I was not sure. Will you be able to update on Monday about the paperwork u got says 12 or 24 months

He offered me to change the colour to black and get it delivered by Monday, then I read the comments where changing colour changed the contract terms to 24 months so I said no.

I called about my order this morning, guy on the phone said he can't give a rough date of when the white will be available. He also said there was a similar situation with the coral M4 where people have ordered on the 27th of last month and still haven't received their phone yet because that colour hasn't come in stock.
I decided to change to the black one, and it is still on the 12 month contract. I'll be getting the phone on Monday.

Quality 64GB micro SD cards can be had for £20-ish, which makes the total for the phone circa £190. It's a bargain whichever way you look at it. All the reviews online (the vast majority of them are very positive) are based on a phone price of circa £350. Says it all really.

Yes this is the 16gb version (but can add 64gb for 15 quid). Yes it's grey (but looks great). I personally was not expecting the 64gb version, and that is how i approached this deal.
For £258 on 12 month contract this was an amazing deal for a real quality phone.
The cameras on this kill my wifes Z1 compact.
The screen kills my G2 with fantastic viewing angles and vibrant (but not amoled) detailed colours.
I view this as a top tier phone with a mid tier chipset.

13 Jun 153#832
Summing up post of the year for me. Anyone who genuinely expected a 64gb flagship, aluminium-bodied mobile for (effectively) £170 is frankly deluded. Keep it or return it.
The only options are titanium grey or mystic champagne, both are 16 gb, and are single sim (with an SD card slot alongside).
A couple of folk have said they've received a black phone or a gold phone but I think you'll find in these cases black is really titanium grey and gold is mystic champagne.
CPW/ID won't have lots of different models available, clearly they've screwed up the specs on their website and their customer service folks are as confused as we were.
If anyone had received anything other than 16 gb titanium grey or mystic champagne then please post some pics of the phone and box labels so we can kill of all this different model nonsense.

Spoke to CPW CS today, said to take it in store as both my nearest stores were showing stock of Black. Went in store to exchange, to find the Black is actually Titanium Gray and they have now changed the website to reflect the Titanium specs, but still listing it as Black. Was told if I had screenshots of the tech specs (in particular the fact the Black had 64GB listed, thus was advertised on their website as the Carbon Black model), they would order in and replace the Titanium with the Black as described.
Anyone able to assist? I took screenshots, pasted into Paint...forgot to save them and now found the kids closed Paint without saving!

Anyway I went to return the phone, the first store said we can't do online returns, I called CS they were really annoyed and reported that store I went back in and they changed the story to "the system is down" , second store said system down but being me I didn't give up and went to a third store. The assistant manager told me that the manager was not in and couldn't authorise the refund so I called CS again  got a really sweet lady called Nicola she was fuming that the A. It came in quite a fancy box for a phone case, I had high hopes. I'm sure some will think it's more than adequate but it's the closing mechanism more than anything that is annoying me. Sit your phone down face up and it sits slightly open most of the time.
The case is a great fit and will protect the phone(when it stays shut) but it could never be considered PU leather unless every bit of polyurethane is. It's kind of like a hard foam on the front flap and the back is just hard plastic.

Is anyone else struggling massively with this phone?
Received the Grey model today, took me forever to even find the phone number (thanks to the person who commented here saying it's in the email).
Now I can't seem to recieve texts or call when connected to WiFi. Played around with all the settings. Has anyone else had this issue?
Astec123 to nomanuel
11 Jun 15#738
Not having any issues like that with mine. Didn't get on with the Stock launcher myself. I've installed Nova Launcher that I used on my Nexus 5 and back to normality. Well after finally restoring all my apps and data, I never realised I had 15000 texts on my old N5. Also the battery life so far is fantastic. Managed to go from just before 17.00 (56%) until 22.00 (12% charge) with the phone being screen on for a large portion of that time or doing something while the screen was off.
Has anyone found a data limiter like other Huawei models have. I can't find one on this phone in any of the settings. My look through there has found a number of other nifty features however.

After around 8 phone calls since last friday and a visit to a store i was told today that they had changed my contract to a 24 month apparently when i requested a different colour, the advisor did not tell me that they had done this and now their is no way for me to have the deal on a 12 month contract, i kicked up a right fuss and got through to their complaints department, the advisor was very apologetic but couldnt raise a 12 month deal either, he issued me with 40 pounds worth of credit to use instore on anything i want. I would rather them honoring the deal but didnt really need the phone or contract anyway, i just cant help myself with gadgets and bargains, so people, make sure your contracts are 12 months as they are changing things without notice.

I was paying £20 per month on the top-end BT contract. Realised that my minimal usage (on all fronts) was really not worth the cost. Cancelled the contract and now selling my G3. Selling the G3 will bring this down to a good fiver a month or so.
OptimusPrimeval
11 Jun 15#716
Coming from an LG G2 this is a big enough upgrade for me to warrant keeping it.
Brand new phone with all the contract extras (and TCB of £26.50), will let the other half have my G2 so will save on PAYG topups, all for 12 months. Then by that time the LG G4 will be sufficiently reduced to justify a purchase (unless something else takes my fancy or I love the P8 so much I don't want to part with it).
kng138g
11 Jun 15#715
i agree. hopefully TCB pays out, or quidco in my case. i'd be more than happy if i could've offloaded the G2 to someone who needed it. bought it from vodafone for £150 not that long ago. both great phones, but i would definitely choose the P8.

Got a firsthand taste of the systems their staff have to go through just now. Haven't had any confirmation that it was delivered in store but was passing by and of course it was delivered but no one called me to let me know which wasn't a great start. Worst part was that every time they would process it the system would hang up completely and it did that thee times, they called up tech support who said the payment system was down and store now being officially closed for 10 minutes they couldn't give me the phone since they couldn't officially process it.
Long story short come back tomorrow, while not pleased they didn't call me I don't envy them trying to work with those awful systems they appear to have in place. On a bright side had a play with a live model in store and it's certainly a beautiful little thing to behold. I only say little because I'm going to it from a Note 3 phone :P

I'd imagine that the EMUI 3.1 software will have a setting allowing you to cap network data usage. That's what was initially advertised (and this is what dual-sim devices available overseas apparently offer).
However, we've since been told that the UK-spec P8 only has single sim support for some reason or other. If it is dual-sim, the box should show two different IMEI numbers.
That said, the images on the Anandtech review show the second tray as being for microSD without any mention of adding a sim. I wonder if the dual-sim devices come with two different trays for the second slot, one for a sim and one for a microSD card?

"What Time Can I Pick My Order Up?

I'd certainly recommend reading the Anandtech review. It's not overly complimentary about the Kirin 930 chipset but do bear in mind that it is approaching the review with the idea that this is a flagship device meant to compete with other high-end phones such as the Galaxy S6, LG G4, Xperia Z3(+) and the like and it really doesn't have the performance to compare to these devices.
If, on the other hand, you've picked up this phone as cheaply as we have in this thread, it is an absolute bargain. Great build quality, good screen (hopefully!), very good camera, expandable memory and decent performance at a very low price.
Just a pity it isn't dual-sim as well.
That reminds me, I bought some NFC tags for an older phone not used for over a year. I'll have to see if I can dig them out of my draw and then try to find a good use for them!

I have a N5 at the moment, I flashed Android M and the batter still barely lasts a half day, so decided to sell if on ebay tomorrow for a quick 100 quid. Sorry I'd love my little red N5 however I just can't live with its battery, so it has to go. ............ P8 is still selling around £310 on Huawei's offical website.

I've currently got a Nexus 5 and that review got me thinking this might not be the phone for me. Weak GPU and questionable battery life being two things that might bug me. The camera might not be great on the Nexus 5 but it's still a brilliant phone and vanilla Android trumps all the vendor specific OS skins.
Mine should be arriving today......decisions decisions......

I own a same spec Honor X2 from Huawei. What I can say is that Kirin 930 and 935 processors are power friendly but doesn't lose much in game play. I had no issues with long play of COC and GOW.

Well what contract is worth to you is to do with your usage needs but I'd argue it's worth a little more more than a fiver a month, in fact with 1GB of data even something like GiffGaff would set you back £10 a month albeit with more minutes. Even if you value it at £7.50 a month the phone already works out £168 so that's a bargain in itself for a brand new phone which is just getting released.
All those handsets are great and prove excellent value for money right now, no one would go wrong buying either or this but you just have to look at what exactly you want from your phone. Looking at all reviews this appears to have the best build quality hands down which is an important thing for some people as after all this is something that you will hold in your hand a lot, of course not so important if you're putting a case on it.
Camera seems to be excellent as well, only marginally lagging behind the current flagships which is a very important feature to me. If I didn't want a better one I'd still have my HTC One M7 and wouldn't want to go from my current Note 3 (which takes excellent daytime photos but dips as soon as good light disappears). This brings me to the power front as again I was more than happy with those two in terms of performance so I'm not looking for flagship killer and don't play any games on my phones.
In case of One Plus One it lacks a MicroSD slot and also has the issue of not supporting certain 4G providers due to its bands. For me this works out a perfect package, sufficient performance coupled with excellent camera and fantastic build and all for a bargain price. If this was a 24 months contract like now I'd think twice and most likely wouldn't get it but looks like I got lucky.

I'd carefully check if the p8000 has the frequency band you need, this was discussed on the p7000 thread and that seemed to be the major difference between the two phones, that and the p8000 larger battery. The suggestion was that the p8000 is aimed at the Asian market.

I was wondering this myself - is this a better bet than the OnePlusOne for £180? The contract is worth about £60 to me, so the P8 will cost me a similar amount to the OnePlusOne...

Thanks for posting this review, it's made me decide against this phone. I'm returning it as it is going to be a big disappointment. I'm just going to keep my G3 and wait for the s6 edge prices to hopefully come crashing down. The only thing it is better than the g3 is camera which I don't use much anyway. Just a shame I didn't read this earlier, if would have saved me a lot of time messing around on this forum  Thanks op as well.

From here mate: http://www.elephone.cc/elephone-p8000.html
Like I said, I'll not be counting on anything until it materialises in my hand post 20th July.
Until then, I'll give the P8 a go...again if it actually materialises later this week!
Preferance would be the Vowney, version B, but I'll wait on that until it is actually released (20th June but not holding my breath) and Win 10 compatibility confirmed.

10 Jun 15#605
Where did you buy Elephone P8000 from what what's the discount code?
I can't believe they have the balls to even talk about P8000 let alone put them on pre-order having delayed the P7000's which are still on pre-order, especially the black ones.

Throbbo to OptimusPrimeval
10 Jun 152#604
I wouldn't expect too much performance-wise from the P8. Ignore the high figures in Antutu as it is pretty rubbish as a benchmark. The phone will be slower in operation in comparison to high-end phones with faster Cortex-A57 cores such as the Snapdragon 805/810 (and the 801s with Krait cores) or the newer Exynos chips. Unless you're using massively multithreaded software (of which very little exists), these will greatly outperform the A53s in the P8's Kirin chip. Unfortunately, the weakest part of the Kirin 930 is the GPU (which is actually 2 generations old) and this is why in the linked benchmarks, the P8 lite actually outperforms the P8 itself in GFXBench!
However, the P8 should still be more than fast enough for anyone who isn't interested in higher-end mobile gaming and the decent screen and good camera make it a great buy on this deal.
Incidentally, regarding the screen, it seems you can get excellent colour reproduction by setting the display software to the 'warmest' colour temperature settings. For more information, read Anandtech's review:
I cannot believe everyone had the OOS email. Surley if there was demand then atleast the first few customers should have received their phone on both colours. It said in stock which was a blatent lie otherwise at least one person on this thread would of have their phone by at least Tuesday.

I kind of understand your reasoning about damaging an expensive phone, but not in the situation where you fall off a motorbike .. If that happened the last thing on my mind would be... Well, as with others on here, I failed the Credit Check despite having a good credit file with no adverse notices attached. Saying that, they did an Enquiry with Experian and an Audit with Equifax, so actually didn't run a credit search as a normal lender/telecoms would so not sure how I failed it...
However, now that we know it's not dual sim, as confirmed by the surplier, I'm not actually bothered and it saves me the hassle of having to return it!

Well, this is a new one on me! Got the failed credit check email and thought fine, as I said the other day. I made no calls to customer services, did not try and reorder, did not go in store to try there and left it at that...Then, this afternoon, I get a bunch of emails with the the last one saying that my phone would be delivered tomorrow to my local store and I can pick it up on Friday!
If it is there, that'll be on the 12 months as originally ordered...Wouldn't mind if I hadn't just pre ordered the Elephone P8000, with my $40 discount code, earlier on today!! One will have to be sold assuming both do materialise...

Applied a dark theme (http://www.huaweithemes.cf/2015/04/ota-black-all-dark-theme-for-emui-30.html) and it's pretty much there.

The phone is faster, better battery life .
Anyway, my wife's just got the update to EMUI 4.5 through. Anyone gone for it? Recommended?
If you cancelled 40 days before the end of a contract for example, what they should do is charge you 10 days early termination fee, this would then cover the last 10 days of the contract you would not pay.
I also asked for an upgrade and they said I couldn't have one, then I asked to be put on SIM only and they said I'd have to leave the network for atleast 48 hours then rejoin otherwise they couldn't do it, sounds very strange not sure if is true
All, please keep posted your experiences.
i really want a truly unlimited data SIM, so il probably go for Three at £20 a month, 12 month contract.
Everyone should find an extra 500mb auto added to their allowance yesterday.
I've had my May bill, no extra charges on there.
If there are any issues i'll definitely just contact them via twitter, much more helpful
Now I have a shiny new looking P8 (maybe refurbished i guess?), considering selling it and upgrading anyway though
considering the P9, and some of the Chinese devices but obviously they come with some with risks.
Would've really liked the Nexus 6P but was/is too expensive
Descisions descisions
So if anyone calls back too early they may try to hit u with early termination fee & you will lose out on potentially days of service you have paid for as part of 12 months contract.
https://www.idmobile.co.uk/legal/terms-and-conditions
I asked ID about all this on twitter earlier and they were much more helpful than the call centre.
+ They said to get in touch again if I have any problems with the final bill etc
Any charges outside your contract will be taken next month on your 13th and final bill once the contract is finished, but should not include any more line rental.
There is a £5 a month sim only via uswitch 250mins 1.5gb.
I did, it all seems incredibly vague though, no confirmation email/text from them regarding cancellation, they tried to tell me there would be a £22 early termination fee (which i argued and they backed out of eventually), couldn't give me my final bill date (should be this months i guess as it is the 12th bill?)
Glad they aren't my everyday network, not too impressed with CS!

Decent deal though
Anyone else looking to upgrade?
If so what to?
The P9 interests me but its expensive in comparison and I'm not a big photographer.
Bit laggy at times, nor really sure why. Even did a full wipe the other day.
PS how is everyone's battery life ?

It's weird as my dell venue pro has just developed the same problem
But hey if they have upped it to 500 mins lol im happy but looking at my bill i cant see what it is ive been charged for im assuming its data but it just says national charges.
Took around a month to resolve either there system or staff are a bit simple
Would be far better if they could show you the charges immediately like when you get your bill
Hi xxxxx, We have checked your account and can see that the vouchers have been added to the system, you are able to go into any Carphone Warehouse store to use this £10 credit. Your reference number for store is xxxxxxx. Kind regards
I have not been in yet as have not needed anything.
I see now lol
Don't know, guess there's an app for that...
Genuine question
The camera is very good but as soon as i zoom with it, it loses focus?
It's a shame they've removed the touch plus functionality though. Don't understand why the touch plus screen protectors weren't more widely available. I was still kinda hoping they'd release more and make them a little cheaper.
What? That's a real pain, as I fancied picking one up in the coming few months to try it out as I dislike the on screen ones taking up screen space just to function as 3 buttons.
Check your battery usage chart and see what's draining it. I find this happens when an app goes rogue and doesn't kill itself. The Huawei power usage alerts are quite useful for that very reason as I've had a few apps on my old Nexus 4 and 5 did this and took away half the battery as a result because I'd not taken the phone out of my pocket for a couple of hours.
battery seems to be good.
Important message from iD Mobile
Dear Customer,
I am writing to you as a precaution after we discovered on the 5th August that some of our IT systems had been subjected to a sophisticated cyber attack.
We immediately took action to secure these systems and launched a full investigation with a leading cyber security firm to help us understand the impact of this attack. Our investigation is still going on.
At this stage, our investigation indicates that some of the data held on our systems has been accessed and this may include some of your personal details, including your name, address, date of birth and bank details.
We take the security of your data extremely seriously, and we have put in place additional security measures to prevent further attacks. Nevertheless, we felt it was important to let you know as soon as possible.
To reduce the risk of fraudulent activity, we recommend that you consider taking the following steps:
• Notifying your bank and credit card company, so that they can monitor activity on your account
• Checking for suspicious or unexpected online or account activity
• Be careful of anyone calling asking for personal information, bank details or passwords
• You can check your credit rating to make sure no one has taken out loan and credit in your name. You can do this by visiting Experian
Might reset it tomorrow if the battery life continues
Then don't install any apps at all.
See how your battery is like that.
Then if it is OK, install apps one at a time, maybe then you will notice which (if any) is causing your problems.
also why is the screen made a tiny bit smaller when playing games and videos.
Not sure about the video screen thing, guess it depends on where you are playing it from
I am assuming the phone manager on the honor 6 is on the P8, they're both using emui 3.
What battery life are others getting as mine is still poor to be honest
OH and does anyone know of a keyboard where I can move the full stop as ive always used swift key but keep hitting the full stop on this phone.
Here's another one:
http://www.huaweiblog.de/huawei/huawei-p8-firmware-update/ It's the mega link that says GRA-L09 V100R001C900B132
Before you do that it's worth checking whether there's an official update available through the app.
Are you out of signal area a lot? Is it searching for a network regularly?
I reckon with a custom rom this thing will fly
I press in the search bar, it loads the google now page after 1-2 seconds, then quite a few more seconds for the keyboard to pop up to be able to start searching.
Was almost instant on my Nexus 4.
Wonder if installing google launcher will improve it
Very cheap .......
I keep pulling up menus in my pocket, but haven't figured how to get them up myself, this happens when I put the phone in my pocket without putting it to sleep....anyone any tips? I know if I pull up while swipe locked it gives the music player controls, but swipe left/right/down don't appear to do anything?
Would like four hours screen on time and a days use with some actual phone calls as well....
Orher than the settings you mentioned i have changed nothing else....
You need to have a look in the battery section in settings to check what's using up the battery
im getting quite a lot of calls that go screwy......ill be talking and then all of a sudden it goes dead where as my s4 was fine......anyone else?>?>
also i have to have better battery life....
Got zero lemon standard batterys in the s4 and get 24 hour total battery with around 4 hours screen on time....on this im getting around a days use and 2 hours screen on time
All gone quiet here now people have go there phones lol
I think that Android OS battery usage is reported incorrectly in the stock P8 software version, the culprit may be Settings > Wi-Fi > Advanced settings > scanning always available.
anyone know if i can dial a number to check my balance etc?
Cheers

I do not want to return the phone and am happy with the 12 month contract I signed up to so I will not return it. Legally they might be committing fraud by changing my contract to the massive detriment of me without informing me. It may just be a big mistake that they will rectify asap, but it looks like a sneaky deceptive con. I have a close relative who is a solicitor so I will give them a couple of days to rectify the situation before asking him for advice.
Ok thanks, I am in the same situation on deciding whether to exchange or carry on waiting for the white handset. please do let us know if they have changed the contract length to 24 months or kept it at 12 months
Is that the white one or the space grey one?
The Nillkin case was purchased on Amazon from a seller called AceTech. It's the Nillkin Super Frosted Shield Case though they don't actually mention the brand on the River. About 7 quid for that one. Either is pretty sturdy but just a rear hard case as I don't like flip cases. I'd say the Nillkin is a bit better for a grip but the Aixuan has a nicer finish. Both pretty decent.
Was it from Aliexpress?
And which was the Nillkin one?
So many questions lol
Thanks
I have updated the software with no ill effects, so far

I downloaded it to my PC, unzipped it and transferred it to dload/ on the root of my external SD. I had to flash the original recovery, then run the updater app and use the menu to install a local update. I lost root so had to re-root afterwards.
The update has fixed some problems with notifications, I think this will fix the problems with android wear devices, however I don't have any to test this.
''Hi xxx, unfortunately due to continuing Huawei nationwide stock issues, your new Huawei White P8 will now be delivered on 14th July. If you would like to exchange to the Huawei Black P8 which we have in stock, please text EXCHANGE to 80091 and this will be arranged for you and delivered within 3 working days. We apologise for the inconvenience and are adding £5 credit to your account to spend in any store. Thank you for you patience.''
So it is the 14th of July... till the next postponement.
On another note, with all these delays and £5 credit compensations, I may buy it off-contract at some point
I won't bite and text EXCHANGE, not risking the contract reverting to 24m, not to mention I really prefer the white one.
Kudos to CPW though for those texts.
Though if you are likely to reach the limit of your monthly allowance you might consider disabling it to avoid the hefty rates of this ID contract.
Does voicemail come out of the 300 inclusive minutes allowance on this ID tariff, or is there a separate charge for listening to voicemails?
Also if you're on holiday abroad and the voicemail is active, if you don't answer or you're busy on another call and the incoming call is forwarded to your voicemail, that is charged at international roaming tariff (happened to me).
This is actually a second reason why I always disable voicemail on my private phone.
Though if you are likely to reach the limit of your monthly allowance you might consider disabling it to avoid the hefty rates of this ID contract.
BTW: 'Your operator doesn't support disabling call forwarding when your phone is busy/unanswered/unreachable'
Seriously ID? C'mon, what's the point? A few quids you'll get from voicemail calls outside of allowance?
It will then use Hullomail rather than the standard voice mail service
I think if you delete the default number it would disable it.
Any ideas? Also tried ##004# and says 'voicemail erased' but when i call the phone it still goes to voicemail.
The AceTech seller on Amazon seems to have a range of flip cases, most produced by Nillkin, so they ought to be decent enough, providing the cases themselves aren't fakes! Never used this seller before, but their feedback is pretty good so they ought to be OK.

But it's the built quality I am worried about otherwise it's on one plus one level
would not this be a great alternative to P8?

Whenever I attempt to log in, the page endlessly reloads - it's stuck in some kind of loop! Hardly the most encouraging of signs!
I'll have to try and use a different browser, I suppose.
ID failed to port my number over 4 times and now the PAC has expired. They weren't able to upgrade my tariff and ended up quite aggressively telling me that I should have planned my usage when I placed the order.
Lovely phone, but really didn't want to stay with them as a company.
It seems CPW have been rejecting cashback for pending orders (white) and reverting cashback to £10 for completed orders (black) till it gets paid in 4weeks4days time from time of tracking (on average, according to TCB retailer stats, so around the 10th July)
I wonder if the (completed) orders for Black have been confirmed/paid? And has the initially tracked £25 cashback been lowered to £10?
Frankly, I think the phone's signal is not bad at all. P8 seems to have stronger signal than my previous phones (I was on Three).
P.S has anyone heard of oppo r7 plus phablet. Spec seems to be good.

Nobody else having these problems?
Not sure if to return or hope an update will fix these issues
£23 + £3.30p&p, I've seen the video that presents it and it looks like a clever bit, but at that price I'll pass
You'd still be getting the phone cheap.
i take it you don't think much of the p8 either then?
It confused me because my old phone used the volume rocker to zoom.
Would be worth doing before you make a decision.
I haven't had any problems with calls or anything yet but the phone does seem to have less bars than my old O2 phone in the same areas.
I scheduled my PAC transfer for today and it has just gone through no probs.
Does the camera have a zoom btw? I can't see anything obvious, tried to take some pics at the wee ones sports day and couldn't figure it out.
Seriously though I do apologise but how else can I publicly humiliate this genius?
I promise I'll stop!
I apologise for taking it off topic but this guy is a clown that can't even structure a sentence and he's trying to lecture me.
When you've worked for HMRC and someone tries to tell you they know more about it because of a couple of fictional mates it can be quite galling.
I'm sure this eejit tells his Father how to raise kids. The internet is full of misplaced confidence unfortunately, I'd advise anyone to ignore this guys advice on anything, he doesn't have a clue what he's talking about.
Apparently there are no VAT claims for HO's to deal with!
What claims do Higher Officers deal with then?
"Ignorance more frequently begets confidence than does knowledge".
Charles Darwin
Why not continue with each other on PM if you must?
You are an idiot plain and simple, a confident but completely wrong idiot, I worked for HMRC for nearly 10 years.
I don't rely on anecdotal evidence, I KNOW I am right.
"some people like to argue their point no matter what"
BTW the EO post hasn't existed for about 10 years, it's just O!
I'm not sure about diverting though.
I would imaging EE see that you are calling a mobile abroad, and charge you accordingly?
Again, best to ask three really, and i always like to get things in writing so prefer email/webchat
Apparently had I not got in contact I would have ended up with a free phone and no contract, but oh well. Live and learn.
So.it really is as simple as buying a 99p sim card then buying that add on?...also if I diverted my ee number to the new three payg sum number. It would just come out of my EE allowance as three would still supposedly be at home ?
But for me the real deal breaker is that this phone has issues with Bluetooth.
I am an android wear user and the phone connects to my watch fine, but as soon as the screen goes to sleep the phone drops connection to the watch.... is anyone else seeing this problem?
I also had problem connecting to my car handfree system.
I have questions open with Huawei via email and twitter, but no reply yet... i'm hoping it will be a software update that fixes this otherwise I will have to send the phone back to ID / Carephonewarehouse.
I have worked for HMRC in the not too distant past!
AA, AO, O, HO, SO
I'll let you try and figure that out!
He's a 'Higher Officer' VAT tax specialist, so he says anyway!
http://www.hotukdeals.com/misc/does-vat-need-paid-when-paying-off-phone-contract-944423
http://www.hotukdeals.com/misc/terminating-a-contract-termination-fee-vat-1299476
Clear as mud.
The O2 refresh contracts are effectively two separate contracts, a phone contract and a sim contract, it would be interesting to see their justification for not charging you VAT on the phone contract.
There's a lot of 'tax experts' on the internet, I spoke to real one.
I've asked a tax officer about this and it isn't as clear cut as you seem to think it is.
Couldn't they argue that by providing an option to buy out the contract they are still providing a 'service'?
The VAT on the phone would have to be paid regardless of whether they term it free.
It's not a simple tax.
Who fancies reading the small print? :smirk:
You might be right in that you wouldn't have to pay VAT if you're just buying out a phone contract although I think even this is debatable.
You may not have received the services under your contract but you've still got the phone, as far as I'm aware you can't buy phones VAT free (unless you're a business). :smirk:
On the other hand, Virginmedia have refused to provide us a VAT invoice for our broadband at work which is illegal, but they seem to be able to get away with it!
Once you run over your allowance, will it automatically move onto standard rates 10p per 1mb, or do you get cut off like on Three and EE?
I managed to get pre order on a 12 month contract, purely to pay for the phone but not use the contract.
http://support.three.co.uk/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBISAPI.DLL?Command=New,Kb=Mobile,Ts=Mobile,T=Article,varset_cat=internetapps,varset_subcat=3583,Case=obj(3833)
"All-you-can-eat data is part of some of our latest Pay Monthly and SIM plans, as well as some older Pay Monthly plans like the Ultimate Internet Plan and The One Plan. It's also available with our All in One 15 and All in One 25 Add-ons on Pay As You Go and some Talk and Text plans. It gives you all the internet use you need when you're in the UK and up to 25GB of data for internet use when you’re in a Feel At Home destination."
"*If you're on Pay As You Go, all you need to do is convert your credit into an Add-on. You can then use the allowance in any Feel At Home destination."
the add ons are here
http://www.three.co.uk/Support/pay_as_you_go/Phone_tariffs
so unlimited data for 30 days would be £15 (see below, this is actually unlimited in uk and 25GB in a feel at home destination)
You need to be on the 'takeaway' contract to get free roaming, this contract with the P8 is on the 'goto' tariff which does not include free roaming.
Carphone Warehouse has not revealed which countries specifically it is offering the service in yet.
Even more confusing.....would be lovely to use it abroad and just use the allowance. If there are no additional charges why do they list the charges and not say once you've used allowance up etc etc
Unfortunately all of our great 12 month plans have now sold out. But be sure to check out some of our other fantastic GoTo and TakeAway plans below.
However, anyone else find it gets uber hot though? Felt like holding a freshly poured cup of tea earlier.
I ordered a white phone at the same time as ordering a black, so also had todays text. And what can you spend £5 credit on at CW? Assume its only an online spend.
Sound wise the speaker does get distorted near the highest level.
Sound at high volume is not impressive, but I rarely use the speaker so not an issue for me
I have an S2 aswell that I still like but has battery drain, ordered a new battery to see if it makes a difference as I need a spare when this Honor 6 gets sent off.I love the Honor 6, so hope the P8 is as good.
Build quality on the phone is very nice and the grey actually looks nicer than in the pictures.
Amazing phone so far. Camera feels better than my iPhone 6. Sound effect is great too.
''Hi xxxxx, thank you for ordering your Huawei P8 in white. Unfortunately due to stock restraints from Huawei there is a delay in your delivery; your new handset will be with you on Friday 3rd July - DPD will be in touch with your hourly slot. To apologise for the inconvenience we have credited your in-store account with £5. We hope you love your new phone.''
could it be im getting it?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZDuyekKSQXg
Had mine on charge all night, but was only at 50% this morning for some reason.
Not quite sure what went on
Mine charge at the rate 35% per hour
I have noticed something odd that could be possibly related? The first day I had the phone I didn't put the sim card in. I connected it to wifi but left everything untouched (no settings changed, no accounts registered, no software downloaded). I left the phone on charge overnight and in the morning I checked the battery usage (within the settings). It looks like the phone went 'awake' in the middle of the night and stayed solid awake for 6 hours. I have no explanation for this, and it didn't happen again (phone recharged three times so far), but could that be a reason for abnormal consumption, or slow recharging?
Has anyone found a good quality (preferably leather), thin sleeve style case for the phone?
When using camera phone gets hot very quickly.
Tried loudspeaker in a conversation and every word spoken by other person finished with a bit of a screech.
When i connected phone by aux cable in car there is a very loud hissing background noise(like its a poor recorded cassette), but it works fine when plugging in earphones! .Tried 2 different cables so not those and my nexus 5 and cheapo alcatel doesnt have this problem, cant find anything in sound settings either.
BTW what screen on time and voice call time are people getting my s4 only managed about 1 and a half hours of screen on time and 1 hour of talk....
Thanks all!
Sent a complaint email to both iD and CPW yesterday (their internal communications are zilch), and will await a response.
I'll see how i go, been fine up to now, maybe it wasn't plugged in properly or something.
Plus i was using my nexus 4 charger so i'll just keep an eye on things
There is a possibility that you could have warranty problems however I don't really know where you stand legally as you just email them and don't have to read reams of legalese and tick a box. Any problems and I will plead ignorance and if that doesn't work I'll ask them for proof of any agreement that I made to forfeit my warranty.
"WHILE THIS SHOULD WORK, THERE IS NO GUARANTEE THAT IT WILL AND ABSOLUTELY NO WARRANTY IF SOMETHING GOES WRONG! YOU DO THIS ON YOUR OWN RISK, AND IF UNSURE, BETTER NOT DO IT!"
Ok thanks, I ordered the same colour... Still waiting...
I would recommend sending the email to them in the early morning, I sent 2 emails and got a reply from the second one.
You will need a working ADB environment which is not explained in this guide, I already had this, there are loads of guides for that though.
Did you order a white or black p8?
Seems harsh for something that was clearly labelled as a very limited offer, I'm sure they went above 500 but still.
Ultimately is the signal part that kills it for me as that makes the phone around £250 price point, which is where I'd rather spend a little extra or go for alternatives and sacrifice things like build quality.
Are there any official ones available?
I like the dot case, but I think that's only available for the p8 max
no worries. thanks anyway
oh, yeah it was wonky with firefox, tried IE and it worked okay so id say try it.
and on XDA they seem refer to a patch that converts MIUI to emui
i still havnt had any update or anything!!??
Quite shoddy service really from cpw
Thanks
For quick comparison the huawei p8 max I imagine has better camara with its 13 / 8 mega pixel camera compare to the 8 / 2 mega pixel on the Samsung tab s LTE. The screen on the Samsung tab s LTE is super amoled 2k screen compare to only 1080p screen on the huawei p8 max. I guess it's a choice between taking better pictures or watching video on a better screen. Can't decide guys. Help !!!!!
Decided just to cancel the whole thing and get a Lenovo K3 Note as it's Dual Sim.
Now CPW tell me I need to return the phone for a return and resale. I said essentially then I would need a new contract and the 12 month offer is no longer available so it would be 24 months.
What can I do? If I don't go in will I be charged full price for the handset?
no worries. thanks anyway
same here.
i'm just concerned about the smaller battery on the P8 compared to G2
I will goto the O2 store tomorrow to change my existing sim to nano sim, so would be great if someone can confirm.
Thanks
I ordered this one http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/111659571495
I was thinking of ordering a 0.3mm TPU soft case. I wanted the case to be as thin as possible.
who did you order yours from?
btw, i have not rooted
I have tested it and got the warning in the notification area.
well all will be revealed on Monday, I've had the email saying it will be delivered. I specifically went over the 12 month bit with him so not sure what else to tell you, if it's a 24 month contract I'll just cancel the whole thing.
Which is why I decided not to but then a month wait to get the phone you order is just wrong. Why they kept receiving order when they knew they don't have any stock for it.
Applied a dark theme (http://www.huaweithemes.cf/2015/04/ota-black-all-dark-theme-for-emui-30.html) and it's pretty much there.
I didn't change because I was not sure. Will you be able to update on Monday about the paperwork u got says 12 or 24 months
He offered me to change the colour to black and get it delivered by Monday, then I read the comments where changing colour changed the contract terms to 24 months so I said no.
Has anyone went to change the colour and still reeived the phone on 12 months contract?
I decided to change to the black one, and it is still on the 12 month contract. I'll be getting the phone on Monday.
http://www.handtec.co.uk/catalogsearch/result/index/?dir=asc&order=price&q=Huawei+P8
Big thumbs small keyboard, sorry!
Can anyone confirm under the apps setting the total space used by the preinstalled apps on their P8 please?
For £258 on 12 month contract this was an amazing deal for a real quality phone.
The cameras on this kill my wifes Z1 compact.
The screen kills my G2 with fantastic viewing angles and vibrant (but not amoled) detailed colours.
I view this as a top tier phone with a mid tier chipset.
Bargain of the year for me!
Anyone able to assist? I took screenshots, pasted into Paint...forgot to save them and now found the kids closed Paint without saving!
Slightly missing vanilla android...
Wife is with Virgin at the moment - £6 pm for a similar monthly allowance to this contract. She could use the sim and i would use the phone but wondering if its worth the hassle. Decisions.....
sent them an email back with a pick of box.....no reply.
typical
Being delivered Monday
It's a beautiful kit but after reading Anandtech's review I'm considering returning it and getting a Oneplus One instead...
I think everyone who ordered the black P8 got the grey model which is supposed to be a 16gb version
Thanks to OP.
Really pleased
Is yours 64GB (+Kirin 935) or 16GB (+Kirin 930) ?
Anyway I went to return the phone, the first store said we can't do online returns, I called CS they were really annoyed and reported that store I went back in and they changed the story to "the system is down" , second store said system down but being me I didn't give up and went to a third store. The assistant manager told me that the manager was not in and couldn't authorise the refund so I called CS again  got a really sweet lady called Nicola she was fuming that the A. M gave me that response told me to go back in and I passed the phone to him and he got a ****. I got my refund  my advice if the in-store say no, call CS.
Was on nexus 5 before
I will keep the unit, so I can send of my moto G for a repair and use that as back up when i travel....
Shame it is a single sim. called many numbers and spoke to many customer service persons ...
finally the ID cust service advised me to return, then wait for the dual sim in beginning of july...
He couldn't give me a ref of the conversation....I know if I return it, I may be given a 24m contract or another single sim handset or etc ect .. which may mean more trouble than what is worth....
decision decision .. it is a very nice shiny handset!
After taking a look at his system, it says that the white has not come into the warehouse and maybe another 3-4 weeks until it does. I then asked about swapping for the black and he said because the 12 month contract is not on offer any more to not do that as it risks being changed to a 24 month.
Absolutely gorgeous phone BTW. Just about to try to port my number.
I went in to store today as I haven't heard anything past my order acknowledgement but I left empty handed. They told me that I had passed the credit check and everything is correct but they haven't allocated me any stock. I was then told that they are having stock issues, even though they have 34 black P8s in stock. So still waiting ....
I will go in this afternoon after work and see if they actually have it or not... The general communication from CPW has been atrocious. I'm not sure what iD are going to be like when the time actually comes to port my number.
Have tried logging in to my ID account on my pc and on my old iPhone to no avail, guess I will have to keep on trying. Would be interested to hear if anyone else has successfully managed to port (especially from Three).
Has anyone else had any joy with this?
Also, my existing contract was a 30 day rolling contract with Three themselves, does anyone know (for definite) if I can port my number to ID from Three?
Haven't opened my box yet as waiting to find out about porting before deciding weather to return it or not yet
Cheers all
I had a bit of bother using the app and browser on the phone last night, I tried again on my laptop and it seemed to go through OK but I requested the transfer to take place on the 16th so I'll have to wait and see.
The case is a great fit and will protect the phone(when it stays shut) but it could never be considered PU leather unless every bit of polyurethane is. It's kind of like a hard foam on the front flap and the back is just hard plastic.
I bought this one

It's not that great but it will protect the phone for now, I've left a review on Amazon which I don't do very often. :smirk:
Thank You very much for posting the deal !!!

Huawei gives away unlock code upon request.
Changed to Nova Launcher and installed a data monitoring app. I am set.
Thanks for the deal bellboys
I think you are right, this is probably for any new customers who are placing an order for the White P8
"Stock update:
Due to huge demand for the white P8, we're having to get more ordered. Unfortunately this means that we won't be able to deliver orders until around 3rd July. Keep checking back for updates."
I'm coming from a nexus 4 if that makes any difference
Thanks!
Received the Grey model today, took me forever to even find the phone number (thanks to the person who commented here saying it's in the email).
Now I can't seem to recieve texts or call when connected to WiFi. Played around with all the settings. Has anyone else had this issue?
Has anyone found a data limiter like other Huawei models have. I can't find one on this phone in any of the settings. My look through there has found a number of other nifty features however.
I think most people who ordered through ID seem to be having the failed credit check, did they call you or email you to say you failed the credit check?
This was just the feedback from other people who switched colours, they were changed to a 24 month instead of a 12 month
Did you order through ID or Carphone Warehouse website? And did they send an email to say you failed the credit check?
Brand new phone with all the contract extras (and TCB of £26.50), will let the other half have my G2 so will save on PAYG topups, all for 12 months. Then by that time the LG G4 will be sufficiently reduced to justify a purchase (unless something else takes my fancy or I love the P8 so much I don't want to part with it).
I think they must have sold you 2 contracts, one I think is through ID web sales and the other probably through carphone warehouse web sales
Just need it to go through now! :smirk:
what was the id online chat thing for checking my order?
Most of us will have a new phone by then!
It really shouldn't be that difficult. Going to give them a call tomorrow. Hopefully we'll all be entitled to the 3 year warranty promotion they have running
"Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /uk/ on this server."
I always had some really bad preconceptions about CPW and never went near them, it's good to know my assumptions are justified!
I don't mind waiting, it's just a joke how poorly this has all been handled.
Spent 30 mins on hold and my case has been escalated, told I will receive a call tomorrow. Such a farce.
Edit: Found it on the e-invoice they've sent.
Update: Can't port my number though. :smirk:

Sticker on back of phone shows 2 slots, says microsd slots in facing up, SD card slots into adjacent slot facing down.
Guess if I complain to CPW that it is not the 64Gb Black model as advertised, they'll just ask to send it back and cancel the contract as opposed to honouring the deal as stated....
this might be able to be updated with software and the hardware is most likely the same
I got mine today at the earliest time, well chuffed as I was going to get a sim only in the next few weeks with one gig for £11 (3) or £12 (VM) so I now get a P8 for less than £150 over 12 months, what a bargain!!
adc links to the p7......the microsd slot has the micro sd logo behind thewee door

You'd be perfectly entitled to return the phone and cancel the contract I believe but I doubt you'd be allowed to keep the phone!
Just checking sim slots now.
Thanks in advance.
"Products ordered and processed successfully before 5pm will be delivered the next day and will be available for pick up the following day. Orders requested to be delivered to a Carphone store in Northern Ireland can take up to 3 working days. The following link provides more information:
<>"
Doesn't mention anything about notification yet if you follow the link it says -
"If your order is being delivered by Carphone Warehouse you will not get a tracking number but the store will notify you when it is ready for collection."
Then a few lines later -
"What Time Can I Pick My Order Up?
We receive deliveries throughout the day, but to avoid a wasted journey please call your chosen store before you visit to make sure that your delivery has arrived. The latest time items are delivered is 6pm, but check your local store's opening times to make sure it's open."
WTF?
Will you notify me or do I need to phone the shop?
After 2 minutes hold she said their system is down now so suggest me to call them back 2 hours later...
Well I think I best just return it.
Have you called to query it yet?
Colour received is titanium grey
But they still took it back to depot because i wasn't in :disappointed: rubbish
Got to wait until tomorrow now
If, on the other hand, you've picked up this phone as cheaply as we have in this thread, it is an absolute bargain.
Seems pretty smooth, fluid n quick on the net tho, thanks to the 3gb ram.
Any sign of dual-sim
Mine should be arriving today......decisions decisions......
1) ordered on last Friday a couple of hours after this deal was posted
2) OOS email received on Saturday morning
3) Email received for IDMobile account and plan activation
4) Email received for customer service phone pin
5) Email received from CarPhone W item had been dispatched
6) SMS from CarPhone W item should be with me today
Note: I have never received an order confirmation email or alike
same here.
i'm just concerned about the smaller battery on the P8 compared to G2
Am I missing something?
Looking to replace my LG G2 coz need better camera, so would this be a better replacement?
Like I said, I'll not be counting on anything until it materialises in my hand post 20th July.
Until then, I'll give the P8 a go...again if it actually materialises later this week!
Preferance would be the Vowney, version B, but I'll wait on that until it is actually released (20th June but not holding my breath) and Win 10 compatibility confirmed.
I can't believe they have the balls to even talk about P8000 let alone put them on pre-order having delayed the P7000's which are still on pre-order, especially the black ones.
For more information, read Anandtech's review:
http://anandtech.com/show/9260/the-huawei-p8-review/6
As far as I knew it was always a pre-order, with delivery expected 19th June
However, now that we know it's not dual sim, as confirmed by the surplier, I'm not actually bothered and it saves me the hassle of having to return it!
If it is there, that'll be on the 12 months as originally ordered...Wouldn't mind if I hadn't just pre ordered the Elephone P8000, with my $40 discount code, earlier on today!! One will have to be sold assuming both do materialise...
Black.
