UPDATE 22/6/15 - it's back on! Titanium Grey version only

Link

http://www.idmobile.co.uk/shop/pay-monthly/Huawei-P8-Titanium-Grey?tid=IDWIC129

Not posted a deal for a while so apologies if I've cocked up. Seems like a cracking deal to me. The phone seems to be selling for £350-£400 on its own so £258 over 12mths with calls, texts and dat thrown in makes it a bit of a no-brainer if you were looking at the P8 anyway.

It's on CPW's new iD Mobile service (runs on Three) and, unusually for a contract, is just for 12 months.

5.2" 1080p screen with gorilla glass 3
Quad core 2ghz processor
Dual sim
3gb ram
13mp camera with dual led and 8mp front camera

Beware of going over allowance 40p per min and 10p Mb (£100 per Gb)

Some of you bunch of moaning, greedy and ungrateful bleeps!

You Moan about the slightest things wrong with the phone, saying its not as good as a £550 Samsung or iPhone, but then some of you still have the cheek to sell them on eBay for in-excess of £350!

The phone is practically free, you moan the networks not right, customer service is poor. You are paying £21 for a top of the range phone over 12 months, with a price plan that could easily be paying the same for over 24 months!

This website makes me want to scream at times, with the amount of ignorant people on here, who expect the best for nothing!

Just spoken to CPW customer service, apparently the mystic champagne model is solid 9ct gold, has 100 gb internal memory and is triple sim, mine is being delivered tomorrow by a nun on a donkey, can't wait.

I've had mine for a couple of days, was a bit worried coming from Cyanogenmod 11 on an SGS2, there wasn't really any need to be.

I unlocked the bootloader, flashed CWM, rooted, installed busybox and then installed apex launcher.

After that, I removed all the useless apps, set a data limit (Install Activity Launcher from Play Store > Settings > Data Usage and set the limit) make sure to change the cycle to start on the first day of your billing period. If you long press on Data Usage you can add a shortcut to the homescreen.

Applied a dark theme (http://www.huaweithemes.cf/2015/04/ota-black-all-dark-theme-for-emui-30.html) and it's pretty much there.

There's a chance P8 owners will get a 3 year warranty with 24 hour turnaround. You will need to register it quick, though...

Seems like a great deal, I have been looking at this phone at around £310 from one of the Amazon Europe sites. I was then planning on pairing with a Three unlimited data sim.

Although this is only 1gb it works out a good deal cheaper, it's just a shame the plans only offer up to 2gb as I would like at least 4gb! Seems bizzare to pay for this contract on top of Three but I might end up doing that.

I think there's also £10 Quidco that can be had with this.

Would love to try one of these phones out before buying but may pre-order this and if I don't like it return within 14 days.

I'm going to jump on this if Three will get their back sides in gear and send my bleeding PAC code across. 30minutes of arguing that this is an upgrade and better deal than what they offer me now and the guy just had none of it.

Edit: Finally managed to process the order through. Now on to finding a case for it.

If I'm reading it right online, this will be the 64gb model wont it? Everywhere says the white and black are premium colours and offer 64gb rather than the standard 16 of the grey and gold. Hopefully they honour this. I've taken a print screen of the deal anyway for the inevitable argument that will happen at the end of 12months when they turn around and say the deal was 24months if I don't take it.

Taken from iD Mobile website:

"Memory
Internal Memory: 16/64 GB, 3 GB RAM
Expandable memory: microSD, up to 128"

I wouldn't count on it being 64gb... but worst case you can return it within 14 days of receipt free of charge.

thanks, gone for this.

Needed something to replace my galaxy note 1, was going to go for the p7000 but too many unanswered questions and the size of the p8 is a little easier on the pocket.

Was paying £10 / month with giffgaff for a similar allowance, so great price for the phone @ £11.50 for 12 months.

If it comes with 64gb then a huge bonus, but 16gb should be sufficient.

I don't want to get all your hopes up but I spoke to carphone warehouse and they said it's definitely 64gb. Also not dual sim and also for all those like me who may want to increase data and minutes later down the line it is very expensive. To increase data by 1gb it was something like £4-5 and to increase minutes £4-£8 depending on how many more minutes you want. So I took out the 25.50 one as well and I will cancel the one I don't need.

6 Jun 15 #60
After much consideration, I took the plunge for the White / 16GB (Mystic Champagne). I didn't want to freeroll for 64GB/Kirin 935 (picking Black), as I really like it in white, and I think what ID/CPW call black is not the Carbon Black / 64GB / Kirin 935 variant, but actually the Titanium Grey / 16GB / Kirin 930 (with black front). If it is proven that Black is indeed Carbon Black, I think I will reconsider, +200MHz of processing power and +48GB storage are not to be sniffed at

6 Jun 15 #61
This looks like a misprice that should be 24 months, not 12, particularly looking at prices of other plans for this phone. Then again their Facebook page does have a picture of the deal with 12 months in it and caption says it's limited to first 500 offers so I've taken a punt!
alxdenisov
6 Jun 15 #62
It clearly says in the cpw page that it is dual sim, 16 gb storage, octa core 64 bit processor kirin 930. Also the contract is for 3g data not 4g?
chemeng to alxdenisov
6 Jun 15 #68
Well it clearly says 131 x 72.4 x 10.2 mm as well, which is MASSIVELY inaccurate.144.9 x 71.8 x 6.4mm being the correct dimensions. So you can't really trust specs on retailer sites.

Chances are that White = Mystic Champagne, Black = Titanium Grey, both 16GB / Kirin 930, and they are Single SIM + microSD card slot.
hooligan001
6 Jun 15 #63
16GB storage and 64GB processor?!

6 Jun 15 #65
Fingers crossed when it arrives it will be dual sim as I'm quite looking forward to this being my first dual sim phone. Shame it's not the more premium 64gb model but otherwise it's just what the doctor ordered.

As a side note the 8 core thing is not exactly what it says on the tin as this phone like several others is 4+4. Meaning it's got 4 cores clocked at 2.0GHz and 4 other cores clocked at up to 1.5GHz. The phone uses the higher clocked cores when you push it and the lower clocked ones when it's idle or doing slow time activities.

For anyone looking for the CPW page it's here

CM7 was Android 2.3 back in 2012 - they're on CM12 or 13 now.
I had a Nexus 5 stock android - hated it. By the time I'd added the apps and features I wanted it became clunky and buggy. I installed CM11 on my LG G2 only to see if it could sort a screen fault - and very quickly went back to the stock LG rom. A few years ago custom roms were all about removing bloatware and because the manufacturers didn't put enough development into their sorftware. I've spent lots of hours rooting and installing custom roms, but after my last 2 phones it seems manufacturers are producing decent software nowadays.

Thanks OP for this excellent deal! My only concern is the development support for this amongst the community, i've had my S3 for three years now and it's still a brilliant phone thanks to the support it receives from developers (Currently running Lollipop on it), i like to hang onto my phones for quite some time and long after the manufacturer has ditched support the community can keep a phone upto date with the latest Android updates, also Quidco tracked at £25, if that goes through then i'll only be paying 11 months! Good stuff.

One of my fears before I posted the deal was whether CPW actually are selling the P8 Lite version and not the full P8 but it's been on the site too long now given the fact that they must have had many orders overnight which would have been flagged up in the back office and it's not been taken down. What SD card does this take? Got a 32 SanDisk class 10 in my moto 4g and that doesn't work with it and no idea what one will. Want 32gb storage so any help for this and moto g if anyone knows be great thanks

that card should work with your moto g, my guess is that the card's a dudd. refund time me if you got it from a reputable supplier. if you didn't then you probably will next time. it's just impossible to tell a fake sd card rip off so you just have to get them new and from a reputable supplier.

Ordered mine through ID at 4am this morning. Got a mail saying thats it OOS but will be dispatched in a few days. Does anyone know if there's a way of putting a limit on the texts, data and calls so you dont go over, gonna use this for my daughter for the year, just dont want her to go over though

Only the 'shockproof' iD tariffs allow capping AFAIK. I use Bill Angel app (which is actually made by CPW) and set alarms.

According to one of the mobile comparison sites I was trying do a comparison against this deal ID do caps under the term shockproof. http://www.broadbandchoices.co.uk/mobile/phone-networks/id/16/

I'm tempted by this as my G3 just zapped itself on holiday but again I have a nice unlimited plan with three on sim only I've had years which I don't want to give up... Decisions decisions... Great deal!

Data can be limited through android settings itself, you can configure a warning at a certain amount of data usage and impose a limit as well, for texts and calls I think you'll have to use a 3rd party app but I'm sure there are several

CPW sent me an email asking me to call them back. I phoned them up and they said I can't have this deal because iD mobile have set up a restriction on me which means I can only have a tariff of upto £15.99 per month. Went back and forth but had no luck. Ridiculous way to not honour the deal.

I had an email to say the credit check has failed and order cancelled which is very strange. Ordered through CPWH.

Called IDmobile, they said there are no issues at all, and they are just waiting for stock. Order still going through fine.

I received a similar email and have since re-ordered.

Only thing I can think of is that I've moved banks recently so obviously for the Q "Time with bank?" my answer was <1yr. Never been rejected for phones etc. before due to credit so a bit confused at the minute. Will give them a ring if I get a similar email about the second order.

6 Jun 15 #158
In all honesty I'm going into this expecting a non dual sim 16GB version. Anything above is a bonus, most resellers like CPW simply copy and paste specs and the up and coming Chinese manufacturers can get confusing with their models numbers for the same product. People can try and contact CPW/ID but they would most likely be reading same copied and pasted spec sheets that we are seeing so everyone will know for sure when handsets get delivered. They do have a 14 day cancellation period like most carriers so returns should be easy enough if people are expecting dual sim.

Could this just be their experience (review link) ? So, not necessarily apply to all P8s:

"The Huawei P8 has excellent design and build for a price lower than other flagship rivals. On the whole hardware is decent too, particularly in the photography department. However, poor performance and buggy software taint the experience to frustrating level which make it very difficult to recommend."

Own a P6 (got for £96 last year), & happy with it for the time being.

Cancelled due to not passing a credit check for both my girlfriend and myself. It's quite strange, as we both have excellent credit history and have had no problems getting a contract for anything, even of much higher value or mortgage.

Anyone know what mobile phone has an "Alarm" clock that will still Go-off, when the phone is switched-off in the night (to save battery).
My old LG Cookie did, but haven`t come across another make the does?
Seems daft to waste the battery by needing to leave it switched on all night.
And in my job I sleep over at work, and I don`t want the extra need to have a separate (non-mobile phone) Alarm Clock!

Hey, considering buying either this, or a G3 for £235. Which one would you guys suggest? Tempted to go for the G3 due to the better screen (larger, and much higher PPI). However the specs of the P8 in regards to performance seem to be superior. Which would you suggest?

I'm in on this and have placed an order but expect there has been a bollux-up so fully expect a cancellation.

I reckon CPW have confused the Huawei P8Lite with the high(er)-end P8. Their description clearly describes the full-fat P8 but the pricing seems more likely to be for the Lite version without the goodies such as the top-end camera and so forth.

Fingers-crossed they will accept the orders, but I'm not expecting too much. Would be a pity as I fancy a phone with a good camera.

Unfortunately 3rd party launchers won't fixed baked-in issues with features like Knuckle Tap. Lots of long term reviewers (1 week+) reporting that the phone is frequently, and wrongly taking screenshots and screen crops when they're just trying to use the phone or play games. Knuckle tap can't currently be disabled.

I'm still voting hot tho. I'd like to think Huawei will release an update to fix these bugs fairly quickly.

Also, does anybody happen to know iD's policy on buying out your contract? I can't find anything online. At this price I'd think it'd be more sensible to buy out your contract and sell the phone, rather than return it if you don't like it? Assuming the buy out is simply 12x your monthly payment.

Well that seems to be their regular charge for any call, voicemail is included in your minutes allowance:

"Calls to voicemail are included in your monthly calls allowance. Any calls you make to voicemail once you've used your monthly allowance will be charged at rate mentioned on the Call Charges page."

Since I found that I got the worst possible call agent clearly not hitting his targets. Tried every trick in the book to convince me that that no where does 12month contracts, then that this is a downgrade from the Nexus 4 that the contract started with and finally that they had a much better deal on a HTC M8 for £25 a month with similar usage to this deal but over 24months. Eventually had to get more stern to get him to finally send to me cancellations.

Doesn't beat the last time I had to cancel with 3. Took me over 90minutes of being passed around constantly with

1 - Speak to agent
2 - try to convince me that I didn't want to cancel
3 - They not feel like accepting that it was my decision
4 - Told to hang on and I'll be put through to cancellations
5 - Get put in a queue only to find out the oik has put me back in the customer service queue so have to hold again before starting anew.

This happened 5 times over the course of 90minutes and each time me getting more and more sure of wanting to leave and demanding to go to cancellations.

Wow. It's mind-boggling how varied customer service can be at different phone companies, and within the same companies. I've had some pretty shoddy service over the years from Vodafone, and then the other week when I said I was leaving, I told them what deal I was switching to , and they offered to beat it. Wasn't expecting that at all.

I spoke with a CPW team member online right now and she said these devices (black and white) have 16gb internal memory, so they are grey and champaign. It also means they include Kirin 930 instead of 935. Otherwise this is a really good deal.

Most reviews I've read suggest it will get through a full day of heavy use and a day and a half of moderate use. Not bad for a phone that is just 6.4mm thin. But battery life is something the manufacturers of these flagship devices really do need to improve, I agree.

I've given this a bash, would have been tempted had it been a 24 month contract never mind 12! Will be over the moon if it's honoured but I'm sceptical! :smirk:

I requested my PAC from O2 today and I can't fault them at all, they were really helpful and didn't bombard me with crap although having been an O2 customer for over 10 years I'm a bit hurt that they didn't at least make an effort (£23 ppm contract obviously not worth it). :disappointed:
Going to work out saving a fair bit of money either way as O2 upgrade deals are pretty poor.

Should probably have looked at this before buying but are these dimensions from the CPW right?

131 x 72.4 x 10.2 mm

Surely it's not a centimetre thick?
Doesn't look it in any pictures I've seen.

8 Jun 15 #283
Hot from me - ordered one for my wife. I was going to get a SIM only deal and buy her a new handset as she complained about the slow-down of her current one but rather than spend £16.50 p/m and then have the handset cost on top this deal ticks both boxes and it looks like a good handset, too.
hukdlr
8 Jun 15 #284
I re-ordered on Saturday evening after being accepted to be given a tariff of upto £15.99 only which obviously didn't cover this deal and they cancelled my order. For the second order I didn't hear anything until 12pm today apart from the usual order acknowledgment email straight after placing my second order.

So I phoned up CPW to enquire about my order. The lady said there is a £50 deposit that I need to pay but she wasn't sure why and put me through to iD mobile. The lady at iD mobile said their systems were down and would contact me soon. Two minutes after that conversation with iD mobile I received an email to contact CPW because they need more information from me. So I phoned up CPW and now the story was changed to the same as my first order i.e. I can only have a tariff of upto £15.99 per month so now I have cancelled my second order as well.

As I mentioned before my credit credit score is way up in the 900's with 4.5 start rating so not sure what's going on here. Ridiculous excuse for not honouring the deal to be honest. Good luck to all those who have ordered and well done to those who have been accepted :-)

Still on there website so no excuses to cancel orders as they are well aware of the popularity of this deal. I ordered on Saturday and had confirmation pending a credit check with a note saying 'thanks for your order (xxxxxx).
The product you ordered is currently out of stock, but don?t worry ? we?re expecting it shortly, so it should be with you within the next few days. In the meantime we're going to prepare your order by running your credit check and taking payment (but only if your order requires it).'

On the 3rd call they confirmed my credit check had gone through fine (I have a poor credit rating) and they confirmed the phone would be delivered with the deal I had asked for...........The lady said it should be delivered next day but I may have missed the cut off so it might not be tomorrow and it may be Wednesday.

So don't know what to do now. Some people say dual sim another single sim.
I know dual sim P8 has box with 3 barcodes .

example :

dual sim

Good spot, probably standard with all dual-sim phones?

I'll sit tight and wait for it to arrive, if it's not dual-sim it will go back. I have more than enough evidence to suggest its been mis-sold.

Why all the fuss with the specs? - if it's not as advertised you can return it within 14 days - make sure you have a screen grab of the specs.

I wouldn't waste my time with customer support - they clearly haven't a clue - even if they tell you what you want to hear, would you really believe them?

I did read your posts, very informative too.

I just wanted a fail-safe for returning the phone if needed and posted the findings for others to review.

Probably slim chance this is actually 'dual-sim' (as we know it) and it's anyone's best guess what colour will actually be supplied.
kuby5 to chemeng
8 Jun 15 #380
The only post that had substance was 84 and that was just codes until you just a few minutes ago edited to include that the single SIM is destined for the UK. Does the website or source that you obtained the code information from, state that GRA L09 is the UK model and if yes can you kindly post a link.

I think it's really clear from previous posts that the black is actually titanium grey and it's single sim. Even so this is still a bargain unless either issue is a deal-breaker.

Well, as with others on here, I failed the Credit Check despite having a good credit file with no adverse notices attached. Saying that, they did an Enquiry with Experian and an Audit with Equifax, so actually didn't run a credit search as a normal lender/telecoms would so not sure how I failed it...
However, now that we know it's not dual sim, as confirmed by the surplier, I'm not actually bothered and it saves me the hassle of having to return it!

Well, this is a new one on me! Got the failed credit check email and thought fine, as I said the other day. I made no calls to customer services, did not try and reorder, did not go in store to try there and left it at that...Then, this afternoon, I get a bunch of emails with the the last one saying that my phone would be delivered tomorrow to my local store and I can pick it up on Friday!
If it is there, that'll be on the 12 months as originally ordered...Wouldn't mind if I hadn't just pre ordered the Elephone P8000, with my $40 discount code, earlier on today!! One will have to be sold assuming both do materialise...

8 Jun 15 #384
Thankfully, as it is now (and we should protect it), Sale of Goods Act 1979 (as amended on 1.10.2007) entitles you to return the handset on the basis the Champagne gold doesn't quite match your bag. So wrong specification on retailer's site is the least of your worries.

I don't mind HUKDers contacting CPW cs trying to find an answer and updating us on here. Actually it's rather helping and outlines a good sense of community.

I'm just a little bit annoyed by the assault on CPW employees, most of who are indeed under-trained. For a phone currently not in their hands, not in stock, it is expected that they will rely on internal CPW literature, which is obviously wrong.

On a personal note, when I was offered a job from CPW for of a supervisory CS-related post, and was offered 17K, I got a packet of KP out of my pocket, emptied it on the table and said ''I see that and I raise you double.'' I don't get why they called security

They seem to have taken the reference to the phone being dual sim off the CPW website. I've got a screenshot, but it's a bit rubbish - anyone got a decent shot they can post?

I don't need dual sim so long as ID mobile do a not-rip-off add on for data roaming. If they don't and it's not dual sim, it's going back :disappointed:

I love how Huawei themselves have commented on twitter replying that this model is in fact a single sim version and the dual sim is not for uk (as with most dual sim variants)..........yet we here at HUKD still seem to find the need to challenge or disbelieve it. Hmmm. I'm sort of disappointed that the phone doesn't come with dual-sim as I've always thought they were a good idea. On the other hand, my current phone which I bought from China is a dual-sim device and I've only ever had one sim inside of it! Originally planned to use a three sim as the secondary sim but that plan was scuppered due to the lack of 3G support for the second sim.

Even though this phone is apparently just single-sim (should lead to better battery life, BTW), I think it's a great price for this phone, especially if I get the cashback via TCB!

If I don't get on with the phone particularly well, could no doubt sell it at a profit and still have the iD contract in hand.

P8 Max is what it is called in UK with 64G and dual 4G SIM slots. The one we are getting is the bog-standard P8 which has only one SIM slot, this version is UK only. I have an Huwwei Honor X2 which has almost identical spec (hardware and software wise), I love it from bottom of my heart because the battery can last almost 3 days with heavy reading activities. Cracking deal as the retail price for this uni-body phone cost around £320

Yes, just got the confirmation email then the OOS one. CS confirmed the order is fine and credit check passed. It seems if there is a problem with the credit check they will ask you to ring them...

Just about every single review I've seen reports that the phone has a MicroSD slot not to mention I doubt any Chinese manufacturer would release a phone that can't be expanded at this stage.

Just to show that no one can tell their a**e from their elbow at the moment, GSM Arena reporting that it ships with Kirin 935. Once we have the handset in our hands we can determine the correct specs.
Throbbo
9 Jun 15 #414
The dual-sim versions of the phone have 2 slots, the second of which can be used either for a sim or an microSD card. These apparently have the same slots but just one of them is available for a sim. It really makes me wonder if there are actually any hardware differences between these UK phones and the dual-sim ones which will be on sale elsewhere.

Wouldn't surprise me too much if a software hack could restore dual-sim functionality! Not that it is really important for most users.

Still, it is strange how few dual-sim phones are sold here in the UK. It's almost as if the networks don't want users to have an option...

I was told that the contract I was going on (12 month/£21.50 per month) was 'shockproof', meaning it's capped so I won't get any nasty surprises with my monthly bill, bonus! She confirmed delivery will be to my work address on Thursday.

In all honesty contracts are pretty well rounded in this country hence why dual sim functionality isn't that useful over here and just takes up a slot inside a phone chassis that will never be used. Only really useful for people who travel a lot hence why it is very useful and almost expected in South East Asia.

Just got the failed credit check e-mail. This is probably right because I had p**s poor credit a few years ago. Even though the debts are now satisfied I still face 5 years of credit hell.

Is it worth trying again through CPW for the same deal? Has anyone had any luck that way?

For those people saying they have good credit just check with one of the credit companies. I found, amongst the obvious debt, a disputed Vodafone payment from when a contract ended that hadn't been paid. This was my fault but this has caused a lot of unnecessary damage.

Here is some pretty useful information on the P8 from Geek Squad, there is no mention of dual SIM for those interested. It also shows that the two slots are clearly labelled SIM and SD.

For what it's worth, the Anandtech review shows exactly the same sim and memory trays and their review notes the phone is a dual-sim device. As the Kirin 930 chipset used in these phones has dual-sim support integrated, it seems rather perverse that they aren't supporting it in some of the devices! As I mentioned earlier in the thread, it wouldn't surprise me if the hardware is identical between the single and dual-sim devices, but with the software b0rked to remove functionality. :/

On another note, I'm not quite sure what I'm going to do with the iD contract yet. I currently use giffgaff and have been happy enough with the O2 network but was considering trying out EE before this deal came up as there is no 4G in my area from O2.

I've heard less than kind words about coverage of the 3 network which iD piggybacks onto (and they have no 4G in my area either). Can any 3 users give me a comment about the general quality/reliability of coverage of this network around the country? I realise coverage for all networks is better in some areas than others, but it would be interesting to hear a general run-down of people's experiences.
phil001 to Throbbo
10 Jun 15 #484
I've been on 3 for a few years now.
Have very few issues, coverage has been great juat about everywhere I have been. Struggle slightly on a caravan site in the coast but so do other networks.
I have had 3g issues about twice, their twitter team are quite good for things like that and the problems lasted less than a day.

I wouldn't consider moving networks unless there was a stupidly good deal somewhere else!

Yes, its definitely gone now. They accepted me on a lower tariff (£15.99) twice, went into store yesterday but had no luck. They have not even run a credit check on me. I tried a couple of times because I could see they were not running a credit check on my me. I didn't mind trying again and again in a hope someone would do a proper credit check and I would get approved. Oh well,nevermind....

Some CPW stores seem to be getting the black version in today which would coincide with the estimated delivery on the CPW website of "by 11th June". There seems to have been a delay on the white version as no stores seem to have any of them and the website says "by week commencing 29th June".

My phone (black) is being delivered to a store but customer services seem to have no idea when this might be. One person on the online chat said it was sent yesterday (9th June) for delivery today but someone on the phone said it hasn't even been sent out yet. I'm hoping that orders will be available for collection from today for some people though, at least those who ordered the black version.

I'm not sure how this impacts orders made through the ID website though as I ordered through the CPW website.

I went into CPW this morning and explained the deal and the fiasco with failed credit checks. The very helpful chap got the deal up on his tablet and we went through the ordering process. It all looked good until......he turned the screen and showed me.
The credit check was a pass (17 points) but ID accept 19 as a minumum for this deal. I was offered the obligitory £15.99 max contract deal or a SIM only deal. He told me they use Equifax for their credit checks.
So that's that. I'll hold out for a cheap LG G3 deal in the coming months (currently still priced the same as a G4) or risk the OPO.

Thanks to the OP for the highlighting the deal and everyones input throughout.

I ordered black around 6.30pm on Friday from CPW. Asked via online chat yesterday (twice) my order status and was told they are waiting for stock, and they don't know when it will be available.

I don't think they will cancel our orders as they would have probably pulled the deal before now if they received more orders than anticipated. I think we will just have to wait patiently until stock arrives, and bear the confusion emanating from CPW.

- confirmation of order being prepared for shipping

This would then be followed up by a text from DPD that delivery is due to be made on the morning of the delivery day.

A few reasons firstly the phone will be retailing for at least £350 we are getting it for £250 with 1gb, mins etc. Secondly it's one of the newest phones out and like a lot of the people who bought the phone I'm a technology enthusiast who likes the newest phone out (I know It's sad). The phones you listed LG g3 is nothing special I'm using it now, laggy (has improved greatly with lollipop and by changing some settings) and poor battery life. Nexus 5 good phone poor battery life. One plus one good phone, good battery but it's nearly a year old and it doesn't support 4g for all.

Mine has arrived today and to be honest it's not the best quality, it'll certainly do the job but I think I'll end up replacing it as the case has no closing mechanism unless it somehow magnetises itself to the phone!
Inside of the cover has another of those great mottos that foreign companies seem to come up with.

Got a text from CPW to say the phone should be available for collection tomorrow.

Throbbo to OptimusPrimeval

I wouldn't expect too much performance-wise from the P8. Ignore the high figures in Antutu as it is pretty rubbish as a benchmark. The phone will be slower in operation in comparison to high-end phones with faster Cortex-A57 cores such as the Snapdragon 805/810 (and the 801s with Krait cores) or the newer Exynos chips. Unless you're using massively multithreaded software (of which very little exists), these will greatly outperform the A53s in the P8's Kirin chip. Unfortunately, the weakest part of the Kirin 930 is the GPU (which is actually 2 generations old) and this is why in the linked benchmarks, the P8 lite actually outperforms the P8 itself in GFXBench!

However, the P8 should still be more than fast enough for anyone who isn't interested in higher-end mobile gaming and the decent screen and good camera make it a great buy on this deal.

Incidentally, regarding the screen, it seems you can get excellent colour reproduction by setting the display software to the 'warmest' colour temperature settings. For more information, read Anandtech's review:

Comment I went into store today and tried to swap my White p8 which I ordered for a black one, the salesman told me that they can't do anything with web orders and that I would need to call cpw web team to change the order.... I kind of understand your reasoning about damaging an expensive phone, but not in the situation where you fall off a motorbike .. If that happened the last thing on my mind would be... I cannot believe everyone had the OOS email. Surley if there was demand then atleast the first few customers should have received their phone on both colours. It said in stock which was a blatent lie otherwise at least one person on this thread would of have their phone by at least Tuesday.

From here mate: http://www.elephone.cc/elephone-p8000.html
Like I said, I'll not be counting on anything until it materialises in my hand post 20th July.
Until then, I'll give the P8 a go...again if it actually materialises later this week!

Preferance would be the Vowney, version B, but I'll wait on that until it is actually released (20th June but not holding my breath) and Win 10 compatibility confirmed.

Thanks for posting this review, it's made me decide against this phone. I'm returning it as it is going to be a big disappointment. I'm just going to keep my G3 and wait for the s6 edge prices to hopefully come crashing down. The only thing it is better than the g3 is camera which I don't use much anyway. Just a shame I didn't read this earlier, if would have saved me a lot of time messing around on this forum  Thanks op as well.

I'd carefully check if the p8000 has the frequency band you need, this was discussed on the p7000 thread and that seemed to be the major difference between the two phones, that and the p8000 larger battery. The suggestion was that the p8000 is aimed at the Asian market.

Well what contract is worth to you is to do with your usage needs but I'd argue it's worth a little more more than a fiver a month, in fact with 1GB of data even something like GiffGaff would set you back £10 a month albeit with more minutes. Even if you value it at £7.50 a month the phone already works out £168 so that's a bargain in itself for a brand new phone which is just getting released.

All those handsets are great and prove excellent value for money right now, no one would go wrong buying either or this but you just have to look at what exactly you want from your phone. Looking at all reviews this appears to have the best build quality hands down which is an important thing for some people as after all this is something that you will hold in your hand a lot, of course not so important if you're putting a case on it.

Camera seems to be excellent as well, only marginally lagging behind the current flagships which is a very important feature to me. If I didn't want a better one I'd still have my HTC One M7 and wouldn't want to go from my current Note 3 (which takes excellent daytime photos but dips as soon as good light disappears). This brings me to the power front as again I was more than happy with those two in terms of performance so I'm not looking for flagship killer and don't play any games on my phones.

In case of One Plus One it lacks a MicroSD slot and also has the issue of not supporting certain 4G providers due to its bands. For me this works out a perfect package, sufficient performance coupled with excellent camera and fantastic build and all for a bargain price. If this was a 24 months contract like now I'd think twice and most likely wouldn't get it but looks like I got lucky.

I've currently got a Nexus 5 and that review got me thinking this might not be the phone for me. Weak GPU and questionable battery life being two things that might bug me. The camera might not be great on the Nexus 5 but it's still a brilliant phone and vanilla Android trumps all the vendor specific OS skins.

Mine should be arriving today......decisions decisions......

I have a N5 at the moment, I flashed Android M and the batter still barely lasts a half day, so decided to sell if on ebay tomorrow for a quick 100 quid. Sorry I'd love my little red N5 however I just can't live with its battery, so it has to go. ............ P8 is still selling around £310 on Huawei's offical website.

Still no news of my ID order placed last Saturday. There doesn't seem to be any way to contact ID directly unless one has one's ID mobile number which obviously I don't have. Tried going through the CPW route but their computers are down until 13.00 so they can't help either. Shambles.

I am keen to know as have good a delivery date for the phone and i was after a dual sim phone.

I'd certainly recommend reading the Anandtech review. It's not overly complimentary about the Kirin 930 chipset but do bear in mind that it is approaching the review with the idea that this is a flagship device meant to compete with other high-end phones such as the Galaxy S6, LG G4, Xperia Z3(+) and the like and it really doesn't have the performance to compare to these devices.

If, on the other hand, you've picked up this phone as cheaply as we have in this thread, it is an absolute bargain. Great build quality, good screen (hopefully!), very good camera, expandable memory and decent performance at a very low price.

Just a pity it isn't dual-sim as well.

That reminds me, I bought some NFC tags for an older phone not used for over a year. I'll have to see if I can dig them out of my draw and then try to find a good use for them!

Not really impressed with their email communications, they're very contradictory.

"Products ordered and processed successfully before 5pm will be delivered the next day and will be available for pick up the following day. Orders requested to be delivered to a Carphone store in Northern Ireland can take up to 3 working days. The following link provides more information:
<>"

Doesn't mention anything about notification yet if you follow the link it says -

"If your order is being delivered by Carphone Warehouse you will not get a tracking number but the store will notify you when it is ready for collection."

Then a few lines later -

"What Time Can I Pick My Order Up?

We receive deliveries throughout the day, but to avoid a wasted journey please call your chosen store before you visit to make sure that your delivery has arrived. The latest time items are delivered is 6pm, but check your local store's opening times to make sure it's open."
