NOT SURE why O2 was mentioned here. I thought it was with EE?. I would be happy if it was on O2 as I could then use my GiffGaff SIM. Can anyone clarify please. If its locked to EE is the phone double locked (like tesco) or easy to unlock?

I ordered two used the voucher code as stated but it said not acepted, but in final payment it shows the discount -£0.90 hopefully they still honour it.
I think you also need a Z3X serial port box to use this method. This seems to be the next best method although there is some debate about whether the handset needs to have been registered for 6 months.

raj75 to MrJinxy
28 Mar 151#49
As long as you make a call every 3 months, SIM will be active. If you keep it active, then you can receive calls. A 1 min call will cost less than 30p, therefore £4 credit should be sufficient for long time.
Once you put the SIM in, send a 'STOP PACK' text to 150 and it will not automatically use the credit for packs.

Despite these being locked to EE, they are highly likely to also work with EE-based MVNOs like ASDA, Virgin, Delight and Vectone.
Delight have pretty good rates at the moment and are mirroring Three's 321 tariff. 3p per minute, 2p per text and 1p per MB of data. (Not that you can use data on this, though.)
As far as I remember Delight have a 'make a chargeable event every 180 days to avoid disconnection' rule like most of the PAYG networks.

3 Apr 15#190
How bizarre.
It would seem then that they appear to have locked these in the same way that Virgin/Tesco lock their handsets, i.e. they are based on EE/O2 but won't work with their parent network SIMs. It seems like EE have locked these to only be used by the main MNO, rather than an MVNO that piggybacks off their network.

Did anyone who bought this phone manage to unlock from EE?

I bought this phone and got the EE pack with the offer but BEFORE I activated the sim I was told tat EE wont work in my home location very well. I use the Samsung as a little radio and worth the small cost just for that. I want to now use the sim pack I got to try and unlock a EE phone a friend had. I think I heard you can use that credit as part of the unlock cost. Wont put the sim in the other phone until I know what to do.. Look forward to good advise please. THANKS IN ANTICIPATION

It is locked as I put a Lyca sim in and it asks for a network lock control key
I got it delivered to my dad's work and he says it was there before he got there and it was Royal mail

I'll label the phones so u know which one I'm using!
the same,,, code doesn' t work
Once you put the SIM in, send a 'STOP PACK' text to 150 and it will not automatically use the credit for packs.
Good question ... Any other option to unlock ?
HOT!!!
Shame would have liked it on o2
Hot for price
Thats laughable
However - The code DID work when you see the payment confirmation, saving 90p. Two phones for a total of £5.08.
Bargain.

All EE locked phones work fine with EE, T-Mobile, Orange, Virgin, Asda, Delight, TPO, Vectone.

Tried 2 other purchases yesterday, without the TCB and neither worked with todays [MARCHSALEDAY4] 15% off code OR the 10% off one, this may be payment or browser based issues, but looks like you cannot have both discounts today!
Thanks OP.
where did u you get your codes from? might need 1
Great idea hafizpatel!
YOU GREEDY HOT DEALERS .
Nevertheless it's a deal
Thank you for making this promotion a phenomenal success. Due to the amzing response we have sold just over 3K phones. As you can imagine this is a lot of phones to pack and dispatch. We will endevour to get all phones out as soon as possible but there may be some delay in dispatch. Please note that I will be marking all orders as dispatched on Monday as I need to know where i've got to in regards new orders for next week.
Thank you in advice for your patience in this matter
Regards Paul
Will contact them in a week, to see what the situation is.
Because that means we will still get them after those 100s of sales

I'd also like to unlock but not sure about the forum site mentioned. Has anybody tried another company that shares the same network ass EE ? I was wondering if an Asda sim card would work as they use EE network.
Sorry just got a text to confirm I got £5.00. Thanks for the tip.
I did send AL to 150. Dunno if that makes a difference.

Is this phone locked to EE only? I was under the impression that EE was only for 4G services?!
The displayed network for the Delight sim was T-Mobile UK - unfortunately a visiting relative liked the look of that phone and took it home with them!
Earlier in the this thread it was said that a Delight sim, (along with many others) should have been okay with the E1270. I am disappointed but at £3 I cannot complain.
What did you expect for £3?
However my TPO (The People's Operator) SIM does work.
It will be interesting to see whether or not Virgin and ASDA SIMs are accepted...
Out of curiosity, you're not related to mboora are you?
The good news is that, although it's locked, my old Orange SIM works fine in it, so have ordered a Delight SIM (which apparently also piggybacks on the EE network) and will give that a try when it arrives... fingers crossed.
