Totally agree. We have an old one and a new one in our household. The oled is richer to the point of being over saturated if anything, the lcd is slightly sharper but the actual difference between the 2 screens is minimal and to be honest you're not going to notice a difference when gaming. I'd say the slim if anything is a slightly better option as it's lighter, slimmer with better battery life and charges over micro usb.

I got one of these for my son from Amazon.de just before Christmas and paid £86. it's a fantastic price and purchase and I would recommend. You just need to buy an English plug which are available on Amazon for a couple of pounds. Otherwise no different from what you would buy in shops here. Only minor downside is the 8gb memory card can't hold all 10 free games. But my son wasn't bothered!

I'd rather have the new model. Looked at them dogs by side and the oled is slightly richer but it makes zero difference. Add the beget battery life, easier and more comfortable makes the new a step forwards not backwards as some Internet geeks would have us believe

Where? When I scroll down I see:
PS Vita ist mit einem besonders leistungsstarken LCD-Display ausgestattet, das eine brillante Bildwidergabe in nahezu HD-Auflösung bietet. Der Bildschirm mit 12,7 cm Bilddiagonale ermöglicht komplette Multitouch-Funktionalitä
In the product description they use some images of the original, but the boxart, main image and the description are definitely for the slim version. You can distinguish the slim from the original by the circular start/select buttons as opposed to the oval shaped ones in the original. Also the edges are more rounded in the slim whereas the original has sharper edges. Comparison pic (top is slim)

This one? It's out of stock and I doubt it'll come back in stock. There's 2 different Vita models (well kinda 3 since the original Vita has a wifi only and 3G version). The one in that game bundle was the older Vita though. The one that's in this Amazon deal is the slim. You asked earlier what the 2004 meant. I forgot to say the 2000 part means it's the slim version and that 1000 would mean the original models. Original version has an OLED screen which is better than the LCD used in the slim. Some consider the original version to be superior because of that, hence why someone said earlier to not bother if it's the new version.

The Vita will be discontinued soon, I wouldn't bother.
dreadzone101 to slannmage
21 Feb 15#37
Soon? The PSP was discontinued last year after almost 10 years since it's initial release. Vita is currently 3years old. Still a lot of life left, I'd say. Knowing Sony, they'll probably release another iteration of the vita in future. They tend to do that with their devices. Original PS3, PS3 Slim, PS3 Super slim. PSP, PSP Slim and Lite, PSP Go etc. Won't be surprised if a PS4 Slim is coming in the next few years too.

The 2004 means it's EU version. The Japanese version is 2000, my UK vita slim says 2003 on the box. Here's a link to model number differences. Scroll down a bit and you'll see a small table with the different number suffixes and what region they are related to.

That should do for now. I'm playing Persona 4 at the moment (many would agree it's the best game on the Vita) so can't give a full recommendation. Quite a few popular games that I didn't like might take your fancy (Uncharted Golden Abyss, Soul Sacrifice, Unit 13, Dokuro, Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus, Disgaea 3). Also quite a few that I haven't played yet but I'm looking forward to trying, like Killzone Mercenaries, Touch My Katamari, Super Stardust Delta, Dragon's Crown, Fez, Metrico, Danganronpa, Stealth Inc, Sly Cooper and a few collected classics (Ratchet and Clank, Jak and Daxter, God of War). There are also a huge heap of PSP/PS1 games that you can play on the Vita. I've only played a couple (Resident Evil 2 + 3, Crash Team Racing and Silent Hill) so can't say they're all faithfully ported, but those certainly play well and are a real nostalgic treat. Not only that but you can remote play PS4 games!
All in all, the Vita is a gem. Criminally under-appreciated and misunderstood. To be fair Sony have failed to market it effectively in the west and just make no effort to raise awareness of all the great games available to play natively on it. I hope it doesn't die a premature death as some seem to think it will, but if it does, it will have certainly have given me a good run for my money.
Hope that helps.
Mine just says no info available and they will email when they know.
Thought so. People shouldn't really be put off by the european adaptor
Is it ok it says that in my address for United Kingdom?
Currently have a 'phat' but have been after a slim since using one, find it my comfortable to use and the longer lasting battery is a huge plus. Cheers
The United Kingdom address part of my address is in german, is that ok for getting posted here?

In the product description they use some images of the original, but the boxart, main image and the description are definitely for the slim version. You can distinguish the slim from the original by the circular start/select buttons as opposed to the oval shaped ones in the original. Also the edges are more rounded in the slim whereas the original has sharper edges. Comparison pic (top is slim)
This one? It's out of stock and I doubt it'll come back in stock. There's 2 different Vita models
