Can use the headphone socket to output with a cable or optical.
I have both connected to my soundbar, optical does sound clearer but with the headphone output you can use the TV remote for sound control.

Had my 40H5000 delivered today........ great TV for £299 price matched at John Lewis. Because of the tiny width of the surround bezel, it looks a fair bit smaller than my old 40" Sammy.
No AV output, so I have to get an optical cable to hook up my hi fi system. But the TV sound is surprisingly that good I could easily do without it.

Thanks for the info, John Lewis is out of stock of the 5500 now so they probably wouldn't price match but I will remember to try that if they get it back in stock and Crampton & Moore reduce the price again, mind you knowing my luck Richer Sounds will then be out of stock!

24 Aug 14#49
Got JL to price match Crampton & Moore @ £279, then asked Richer Sounds to price match JL, Richer sounds then beat that price by £5, taking the price to £274. I now think Crampton & Moore's price has gone up to £289 however.
I thought I'd point out that the EH5000 is a 2012 model and the H5000 is a new 2014 model, I price matched JL for the 40 inch version for £299 with 5 year warranty. Cheers!

Strongly advice against this TV. Has **** annoying motion blur. I have the 40' version though but exactly the same model number Samsung UE40H5000. Might be better with the 32' but just giving you guys some forewarning.
There is also a monitor "lottery" with samsung TV's. The panel might not actually be made by Samsung. Sometimes they will outsource is and you'll need to check the developer settings to see if you've got a saumsung panel (which gives the best quality).
Not sure if there's any difference in specs between your EH5000 and this H5000 model........... but I went and had another look at the 40" H5000 in Currys. Had quite a long play around with it with various settings & sources and pretty much liked everything about it.
So I've now ordered the 40" version from John Lewis.

Any where close to plasma performance, looking for a second set for gaming?
The UE32EH5000 32-inch TV is unusual by budget TV standards in that it sacrifices features to focus on delivering better picture quality. So while you do get a Freeview HD tuner and multimedia playback from USB sticks, you only get two HDMIs; you don't get 3D; you don't get Smart TV online features; and you don't get network streaming from DLNA PCs.
Nor do you get one of Samsung's famed skinny designs. In fact, the UE32EH5000 is one of the fattest TVs we've seen.
Its picture quality really is excellent for a sub-£400 32-inch TV, though, delivering better contrast, colour, sharpness and motion handling than you've any right to expect for so little money.

Been pretty happy with my current 40" Sammy, but its almost 5 yrs old now so will be out of RS warranty soon. I already used that warranty a few weeks ago when a fault developed and RS repaired it. So I shall now consign it to the bedroom.
This H5000 is better specced with Freeview HD and 100hrz, looks better with a thinner bezel, is lighter and uses about half the power.
JL have accepted the price match, so it looks like i'll be buying it...... its a great deal for £299, considering my old Sammy cost £485 with 5 yr warranty from RS.

Would this set be suitable for wall mounting, as some of the reviews say it is a bit thicker than normal? I've been given a price match but I don't want to purchase it if it's going to stick out too far from the wall.
