Weird, the 'go to deal' works on my iphone... (In the hotuk app)

Typical of how some links work on HUKD - if you right click and 'open in new tab' it'll work fine but when left clicking HUKD seems to check and direct via their affiliate links (I suspect) which is fair enough as they have to earn some money by providing us this site. Often it takes a while for the linking to work properly and some never seem to work properly.

Good price if you want surround and your receiver won't accept HDMI - otherwise a cheap graphics card makes more sense.

Yeah, that's my setup... I have an old amp without hdmi...

Just put an xfx hd 6450 in there and sound through hdmi works fine to my tv... I just need to get 5.1 to my amp :smiley:

Reading some professional reviews it seems the output is not the best for headphones but I guess optical should be fine?
I have an N40L so currently using a 6450 too and my sound is currently stereo via hdmi out to the tv and back to the home cinema unit.
The alternative would be a £25 Asus sound card with much better overall sound quality and support.

The Asus Xonar low profile is a great match for the microserver, had to sacrifice mine as I need a TV tuner and graphics card (and only 2 PCI-e slots). Got a generic USB sound card off ebay and it works fine with Windows 7. Couldn't get ot to work at all with WHS, so maybe worth checking compatibility if you have the microserver/WHS combination.

What happens if I buy this soundcard and try it on oh I dunno let's say a laptop and it works on that, where do we go from there?

I would like to get the sound in my Yamaha 667 from my mucroserver but when I plug the hdmu into the amo from the server I get nothing picture or sound, searched the web but cannot find a solution any ideas?

was going to get this but didn't find anyone getting it to work with a HP Microserver running WHS, should work with other OS's but if you have home sever on your microserver might be worth a quick google before ordering.

for people who need sound in a microserver, I use the Ricco P26 usb soundbar, excellent sound quality, fits (loose) in the top.

So what you're saying since we've only just met is that I can't interface my USB soundcard with your equipment? I wouldn't mind but I've just bought you a drink.

Mine came today, this was a nightmare to install to get 5.1 on my HP microserver WINDOWS 7 64bit....Sorry!!! hope I don't cause many people too much stress.....
but its now working with 5.1 and DTS using plex... the problem was that it wouldn't detect the device when installing the drivers.

I found this info on an amazon us review... which I followed and it worked. I didn't get to step 5, it worked after step 4....

IMPORTANT: if you are on a 64 bit version of Vista, 7, or 8, you will need to disable signed driver enforcement. If you don't do this, your system will act like it cannot see the hardware anymore because it will not be able to load the driver.
if you need to do this...
Open a command prompt as an admin and type
bcdedit -set loadoptions DISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS
bcdedit -set TESTSIGNING ON
restart your PC

1)Get the software called "Universal Extractor". Install it and then use it to extract the installer.
2)Use it on data1.cab file that was extracted from the installer.
3)Plug your Advantage Micro II in now. I assume that it is installing as a generic USB sound device, like mine. From the device manager, do properties on the generic sound card. Update the driver, have the process do a manual install, and select the driver from your computer. Point it at the directory that you extracted the installer to. You will get a warning that the driver cannot be verified as working with your hardware. Accept it and continue. You will likely need to reboot at this point.
4)At this point, you should have PCM audio coming out, just like before, but in the device manager, you will now see "Audio Advantage Micro Device".
5)I couldn't get SPDIF to work at this point even. The final step I did(and I'm iffy on this is what made it work or not) was in the extracted files directory I ran "AudioAdvantageCpl.exe". On the speakers tab(which should be the default tab), select the "Output Configuration" pane. There should be a single drop down, that says either "headphones" or "Two Speaker", with an S/PDIF option. Once I set this to S/PDIF, the pass through settings on the codecs I am using(Media Player Classic HC) seemed to take, and my receiver started getting a bitstream.
