This is my first post and wasn't sure if it was a voucher or a deal, its both depending on whether you prefer the IKEA restaurant or the store.
I was in IKEA Nottingham today (no idea if nationwide or not) the offer is whatever money you spend in the IKEA restaurant until April 21st, entitles you to get your money back against your store spend if you spend over £30.
Basically anything you spend on food in the cafe you get the same amount back at the checkout in store.
So if you want something from IKEA, why not go and splurge massively in the cafe, they sell things that could easily be taken home like sweets and drinks.
It's also not really noted anywhere, couldn't see it on the website or signage in store. It was pointed out to me by the cashier and is on the receipt.
Minimum spend on furniture is £30
- daturastorm
Minimum spend (£30.00) is on anything in Ikea.
1. goto Ikea Restaurant
2. Ask cashier if Furniture offer is running
3. If it is then collect as much food as you can.
4. Pay cashier & collect voucher for same amount.
5 Go round shop & pick anything above £30.00
6. Pay at till & redeem your voucher for the total food bill from step 4
7. This must be done on the same day.

Just left the leeds store. We took an empty suitcase and bought all the cartons and bottles of drink and all the ready made sandwiches and cakes. Came to £94. Got voucher back to spend in store and dropped everything off at the local homeless shelter on the way home. Excellent. HOT. Going again in the morning.

Not that many people go to Ikea window shopping and probably not that many people go just for the gourment experience so on the assumption that most people are going to Ikea with the intent of buying something and just grab a quick bite while they are there then this is a very good deal.
Can you use the voucher in the food department ?

It makes sense to me. They've done this before.
Spend say £15.82 in the cafe. You pay for your meal, they then give you a voucher for £15.82 that you can spend in the store that day.

So suppose you're planning on buying a £500 sofa. You could walk into Ikea and basically get £500 of food for free? By buying the £500 food first then using it to discount the sofa which was the real reason you walked into Ikea for.
Great deal for anyone planning to buy furniture for more than £30 from Ikea anyway.

Not confusing Try These simple steps -
Minimum spend (£30.00) is on anything in Ikea.
1. Goto Ikea Restaurant
2. Ask cashier if Furniture offer is running
3. If it is then collect as much food as you can.
4. Pay cashier & collect voucher for same amount.
5. Go round shop & pick anything above £30.00
6. Pay at till & redeem your voucher for the total food bill from step 4
7. This must be done on the same day.
Example - £25 on food £50 spent in store =Total £25.00
£30 on food £30 in store = ** FREE **

yes it is a very confusing deal......
.....spend money on food in cafe......
...receive voucher of same value back.....
....buy items over £30 in store......
.....use voucher to save the money from total spent.......
very confusing,
im also guessing the offside rule gives you a lot of headaches and how they get the egg inside of the scotch on scotch eggs??
rorymullan
12 Apr 13#168
Thanks. Get it now.
So I can spend what I want and recieve a voucher, but the minimum spend on furniture is £30.
Is it furniture only or can it be spent elsewhere in IKEA, like on lots of glasses, candles, etc?

Even if you do not want to eat from the cafe surely if your going to ikea and buying something anyway its worth going in and buying sandwiches juice etc and doing like someone else has and drop it into a local homeless unit. wont cost you a thing and going to a good cause
harrisonwayne
12 Apr 132#172
im now taking offence as i was just trying to help you with your confusion as i imagine it will of been playing on your mind at how to get free fish and chips for years and now a deal comes up and your not sure how to get it! just for reference did you ever wonder about the scotch egg?

Having spoken to Ikea customer services, it seems they've not updated their central system (ie the details of the offer hasn't yet been published on each individual store's webpage.)
Perhaps the best way to do this for now is to call your local branch http://www.ikea.com/ms/en_GB/ikny_splash.html or call through to Ikea customer services and once you have details on whether or not your store is active in this promotion, update the thread. I'm sure cozzy15 won't mind you editing the status of each store into the opening post.

Great offer if people don't take the P*SS otherwise they will stop doing it in more and more places till it is obsolete as many more branches were doing it last time!!
As lovely as it is taking food to a homeless shelter I still think it is fair to leave some behind for other people / families , not everyone is greedy and just out for a freebie and we all have to furnish our homes somehow .....Great offer , hope they don't stop it completely & hope they bring it back to Croydon IF there is a ''next time''!

I have a feeling they won't do this deal again , ever :disappointed:
They were always pretty shady about which stores it was on at and for which dates , but this time it was not clear at all and they have not exactly promoted it anywhere , so on at just one store but pretty hush hush when it used to be at quite a few stores ... Think it is the last of ''all the furniture you can eat'' now I reckon ( unless we all write to them and ask them to run the promotion again at other stores because we want to buy lots of stuff from them! ) :smirk:

If you read the Ikea terms and conditions the deal only appears to be valid for meals eaten after 16:30 but no one has mentioned this as a restriction. Is this restriction being enforced?
"All the furniture you can eat
Enjoy a weeknight meal in the IKEA Restaurant & Café and we’ll take the total cost of your meal off any purchase you make in store.
"Valid Monday - Friday after 4.30pm between 20th March and 14th April. "
Opening post

Can you use the voucher in the food department ?
Spend say £15.82 in the cafe. You pay for your meal, they then give you a voucher for £15.82 that you can spend in the store that day.
You have to spend a min of £30
Anyone checked if this is in the Gateshead one

And do I need a Family Card?
horse horse horse
Will the below work???
I go and eat the meal (after paying for it), go and buy the stuff which I give the meal vouchers that I used for. Then, I return the stuff, saying that I dont want it, and the money is credited back to my card.
A voucher payment would be refunded as a voucher.
Do this to the whole store = free bedroom kitted out
Well done on helping to prove both.
Ah wait, I forgot to include the obligatory smiley, so I can claim that I was just joking and not being obnoxious. :man:
With my voucher
I got sofas', wardrobes, rugs, pictures, plant pots, cutlery, china, storage boxes, curtains, pots and pans, towels, light fittings, dining table, coffee table, chairs, dressing table, chest's of drawers, office desk, office chair, mugs, candles, lamps, tea towels, and packets of three different sized scissors.
Pick up voucher, walk around store,
See a nice sofabed you want
Throw up all over the arm rest
Hid around the corner
Wait for them to clean it up, and then reduce to £50, and place in the soiled section
Come out of the corner
Purchase sofabed
Buy a throw to cover stain
Result
Still have £50 to spend if you wish to through up on some curtains, bedding, etc
Get £300 off a sofa
If so i'll buy all the food
Great deal for anyone planning to buy furniture for more than £30 from Ikea anyway.
Thanks OP, I wasn't aware of this deal, and need to go to ikea. This will make me get off my **** and go! Needed to go to buy stuff over £30 so a free lunch is a bonus

What an unfortunate combination incontinence and Alzheimers is.
IKEA must be trying to cushion the soft Southerns from the economic state that those very same soft southerners created for us northern workers.
Either that or your maths is wrong, which ironically is where the this whole economic debacle started, by greedy Southerners who can't add up!
Round up all the local homeless, do a good deed
They will help you lift that sofabed into your car.

'Sadly IKEA has confirmed to AOL that the deal is only on in the Nottingham store, and will not be rolled out nationwide.'
Hmm.....
Fab deal

:sunglasses:
They were always pretty shady about which stores it was on at and for which dates , but this time it was not clear at all and they have not exactly promoted it anywhere , so on at just one store but pretty hush hush when it used to be at quite a few stores ... Think it is the last of ''all the furniture you can eat'' now I reckon ( unless we all write to them and ask them to run the promotion again at other stores because we want to buy lots of stuff from them! ) :smirk:
I only wanted 15 quids worth to split with my daughter but looks like its not happening at all for us now!! xx
Didn't know about the poo cakes. That's a new one.
If you could show us your receipt / voucher that would be good...and expose IKEA as fibbers, and we could do the same as you............................................
The guy said they did something similar before Christmas but that they definitely are not running the promotion at the moment.
She bought some food and didn't get a voucher so it wasn't a case of staff not knowing.
I hope that saves someone a wasted trip!
