Very good charger. However, did not charge my completely discharged battery (as they claim it will).

How long did you wait? Sometimes takes 2-3 days.

It needs a minimum charge to start working. Connect your battery to another one and charge it for a few minutes using your car to porwer it up.
Disconnect your old battery and quickly connect to this charger.

Yes you need to leave it a while, although I think I've had one complete failure but that was due to battery being well beyond recovery and absolutely dead and beyond hope.

Do these work on all car batteries?

Good charger, but couldn't charge my Dad's battery which had dropped to 6 or 7 Volts.

If your car battery is reading 6V, the best place for it is a skip :stuck_out_tongue:

This might sound complicated but if you connect another charged battery to your dad's with jump leads you can get the charge started & then you can disconnect the second battery.
I swear by my charger which I have had for several years & which I use for both car \7 leisure batteries.

you have to trick it into charging fully discharged batteries by connecting a decent one in parallel until it gets the voltage up. Also may need to charge for a few days. These are excellent bits of kit!
