I have one of these and I had the same question about the mysterious slot on top. I believe, after loads of searching, that these 'Polaroid' TV's are made for Asda by Vestel, who make TV's for Europe, nothing to do with the U.S. Camera company. This is where the slot comes in, our European neighbours have Pay Per View (PPV) TV programs that require a Conditional Access Module (CAM) to watch these pay channels and the slot is called a Common Interface (CI) Slot for the CAM cards. Hope this is correct but I would like to know if this is wrong, cheers, Mike.

I bought one of these TVs about 2 years ago for use in the caravan. It was great ,slim, lightweight etc however now the small feed cable from the plug to the jack plug has broken very close to the plug so it is U/S now.
Contacted the free ASDA helpline tele.no and they referred me to PARTMASTER who state they have millions of spare parts for everything but they cannot find a replacement for me.
Tried to trace POLAROID tele.no to see if I can get one direct form them but cannot find a no. to contact them so not sure where to go from here as I have a TV with no power source ????????

I wouldn't recommend a polaroid screen, there cheap for a reason. Mine worked well for about 2 years then suddenly died :disappointed:.

Had been watching this one for motorhome use, so ordered on Saturday & arrived today.
Hers some infor that may help others with the same idea.
There is a separate PSU, rated [email protected] - measured output 13.4V - so it should run straight off a car battery.
Power consumption is a mere 15W - but standby is a bit disappointing at 6W.
If you pull the power plug and reconnect, the TV goes into standby, switching it on returns it to the last input state (useful if you always use an external A/V source).
TV with stand weighs about 1.5kg.
It does have HDMI Component & composite inputs - but no VGA in.
Contrary to the description, it does not have a USB socket for playback.
Thanks to the op.

I have been lucky, I took the loop aerial from my old portable CRT and made a stand for it out of a block of wood.
My new Freeview LCD works great with it.

I'm not very technical but if I want this for the kitchen, do I have to run arial cables through the house or can you still use those portable ariels that you just pop into back of tv? Sorry if this is an obvious question. Great price. Heat added.

Yes you can, but it's a bit hit and miss with portable arials, they either work or they don't there tends to be no middle ground, do some research before buying one, and check out your postcode on the freeview website to see how strong your signal is in your area.

Probably the same thing as the Digihome 16" I posted, which had a built in DVD player for an extra fiver from Comet. Probably no warranty, though, as I think it's a Comet own-brand, so yer pays yer money and yer takes yer choice...
