Looks a good price indeed, my old Samsung monitor has been a quality piece of kit. It would be great to see one of these alongside an IPS panel to see if I could tell the difference as I am tempted by the Iiyama Prolite X2377HDS that are knocking around various sellers for about £15 more than this, although 1" less. Anyone care to comment on the 2 screens' picture quality?

The Iiyama gets disappointing reviews, if you are dead set on an IPS then go for an LG model.
In regards to the difference, the IPS would look better but for gaming, best to stick with a TN panel such as this.

It doesn't appear to take a VESA back mount? (Even if you don't need one now, that situation could change in the lifetime of a monitor...)

Wall mount a 24" monitor? No thanks!

Who said anything about a wall mount??
I'm with 'Grrr...' on this. I have a Omnimount stand attached to my desk which allows me to move it around and gives me the option to swing the monitor out of the way when not in use.
All these monitors around seem to be going for the size, rather then allowing for convenience

Nothing special? I think it is only 23.6", just like all the other ones, and 1920x1080. I got one with CCFL backlight for under 100 - not a Samsung, but it does the job.

The U2312HM, but take in mind it uses an E-IPS panel, so there's other options if you want to save money... like the LG IPS235V.

I have one if these and I've been very happy with it, nice and bright, decent viewing angles, good size. Quite nice looking too.
Downsides as said above are no vesa mount, no height adjustment (does tilt a few degrees), and no HDMI (u use dvi to HDMI cable which works fine.
