Prison shouldn’t be funny. Should it? If you’ve ever wondered what it's like inside one, maybe visited one, worked in one, or even been banged up in one, then this darkly comic novel will have you in stitches.

In Dead Reckoning you’ll step into the polished boots of Mr B, an institutionalised prison officer with control issues and deteriorating mental health. Told 'in the moment', this novel takes you on an alcohol-fuelled struggle to rid the prison of drugs, with exactly the opposite result: there’s more heroin in the prison than there is on the surrounding streets. So much so, that it can only be down to corrupt staff – a fact which Mr B finds impossible to ignore, especially when he inadvertently becomes one of them!

If you’re the sort of person who is offended by violence, drug smuggling, prostitution and corruption then maybe you ought to buy something from the romance section. But if you have an edgy sense of humour and like unconventional fiction, this gritty novel will teach you a riotous lesson about morality.

About the Author:

Paul Graduated from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) as an actor before serving as a Prison Officer for over 10 years at four of the most notorious prisons in the country. He recently graduated his Master’s Degree with merit from the Department of Criminology at Leicester University. Paul decided to publish this novel having suffered a subarachnoid haemorrhage after an anurysm ruptured in his brain. You almost didn't read this.
