The link does not seem to explain how this reward work.
I understand you will get 200 mb data each month just be registering your existing or newly purchased simcard, right ??

Does it work with PAYG Simcard or it will need to be contract ??
I have a data only sim which valid for 24 months to be used mainly for free at home in EU countries.

Could people who knows please explain how this reward work ?
Correct link to the rewards system will be very mcuha apreaciated
Thanks

I still can not understand how this rewards work.

Can you put like 5 sims in one mobile and register them all and just keep changing them around ?

Thats because they have added an affiliate link so they can make money from your find :-)

Nope data would work like it does in the UK when you go aboard as long as it's in a phone or a mifi that had both 3g and 2g enabled or 4G  you don't need to top up

You activate your sim at website on the packaging and it is valid for life that's it as I have had mine a year and never toped up at all  it's pay as you go

If you have an old iphone lying around, you can put the sim in and leave it hidden in your car, works great as a GPS tracker when linked with FindMyiPhone.

Is there a way to use these data Sims if you are contracted to a different provider?

Check if your phone is unlocked, normally your phone comes unlocked to any network, and when the first sim is insrted, it gets locked to that network, but it dosn't hurt to test it out.

In the past some people have had trouble registering the cards. They may have sorted this out otherwise;

Put sim in device. Turn on mobile data. Turn off wifi.

Change your apn manually to;

3internet

go to three.co.uk/fre…ata

It should now let you register.

(My understanding is it works like a payg 321 sim but without any voicemail service to discourage its use. You can top up online with almost any amount by buying international credit in the mythree topup page and then have additional internet at 1p a mb if you use up your 200mb in a month)

Just went on chat with them - confirmed that you cannot port your old 3 number, nor can you have this allowance added to an existing 321 sim, but he confirmed that they are 321 sims.

14 Feb 17 #24
Can you port a non-3 number? I thought that porting would not be allowed as these are "Data SIMs"

Corrsxt. So if you're already on Three you have to port out to another network then port back in to your Three data SIM. It's no big deal.

Registered my "Data Reward Sim" on line and followed instructions but no free data.
Spoke to a guy on Three chat who insisted I needed to purchase an add-on before free data would be added. Are you guys really getting the 200MB without making any payment? If so, what am I doing wrong?
den169
14 Feb 17 #29
Did you go to three.co.uk/fre…ata while sim was in phone i had same problem and chat told me the same needs a top up,But i tried the sim in a newer phone and it went to the above addy and registered and then worked.
MLD9
14 Feb 17 #30
I received a Sim today. Even though I wasn't on Wifi it said to refresh the page but it didn't show the registration form.

I went into airplane mode a couple of times but that didn't help.

I restarted the tablet and tried again to three.co.uk/fre…ata

Form was shown, registered & done the survey.

Clicked on the link in confirmation email (using phone).

Went into airplane mode one last time & back onto data.

Navigated to a page on data & now loaded fine with the 200mb :sunglasses:

Definitely don't need a top up & probably don't need to use web chat, just a bit of persistence.

Many thanks for details of full procedure. I will try again later. Glad I did not make the £10 top-up that chat was insisting was necessary! 200MB is plenty as a backup in my spare phone.
fablanta
14 Feb 17 #34
If you don't do an initial top up can you still use the SIM for voice and text or does talk & text only come out of a paid-in credit balance? My thinking is that 200MB of data is the equivalent of £2 credit which would be enough for up to 66m 40s per month talk or 100 texts, enough for ultra low usage/emergency use.

Alternatively would Whatsapp (using data) be a viable solution using around 0.75p per minute instead of 3p for talk.
MLD9

No I believe this is data only unless you top up.
Duelling.Duck
14 Feb 17 #37
In summary in case anybody else is confused

What's Free: 200mb data free per month
Can I call and text? Yes, if you top up with the minimum of £2 it's 3p a minute to any network or landline, texts are 2p and data if you run out is 1p per megabyte.

I turn on mobile data when I'm out and use it for Whatsapp and have never come anywhere near to using up the 200mb even using voice calls.

Anyone with activated voicemail on these cards?
Got one of these for a year now, using it as a secondary phone but I can't turn on the voicemail. When I call 123 it says to put my PIN but I never set one and the default (1212) is not working. I called support and ask them to turn my voicemail ON, they said they will but still no voicemail. Before I talk to them, when I called my number when phone is off, it just hanged up, now after they said my voicemail will work, it says that you are unable to leave voicemail.

I would think it has to be on 3s network.

17 Feb 17 #53
I spoke with support again about voicemail. They confirmed that it can NOT be activated on these cards. Even worse, the agent told me that because it is a data SIM, if I continue using the card in a phone, it could cut my voice calls at any time. I just ported my number from another network and now I may have to do it again if they block the calls :disappointed:
den169
18 Feb 17 #54
Why would they block calls that make them money.Iv'e had one of these sims in a phone with credit for about 8 months.I wouldn't take what an agent says as correct,When i couldn't register one of these sims last week online chat told me it wouldn't work till i topped up with £10.That was rubbish tried the sim in a different phone and it registered and worked fine.
luv_a_deal
18 Feb 17 #55
If you have this in a phone do you need to purchase an add on to get 'feel at home'? The three site suggests you do for PAYG, but it sounds like some of you don't and it still works...
Toonah
18 Feb 17 #56
Yay mine arrived! Not used it yet... will report back with any problems (if there are any)
blahster
18 Feb 17 #57
I'm saying what he told me. Obviously Three prefer to give you standard 321 card because you will have to pay 1p/MB and 200MB are actually 2 Pounds potential profit. I've also been using the card for about a year without problems but only receiving messages and calls until recently when I topped it up. The agent seemed not to know about data reward cards and I didn't tell him. He left me on wait and spoke with 'technical staff' and then he explained what I have already post. He suggested at least two times that I should get new 321 card if I use it with phone and they will transfer the credit I have.
The best thing about these cards for me is not the free internet, I have another Three phone with more than I-can-eat data. I like the flexible top up amounts and 2 pounds minimal voucher that is not available for usual 321sim

Has anyone tried using one of these SIMs with another standard Three 3-2-1 PAYG SIM in a dual-SIM phone? I have a Doogee X5 Pro which I have been using with a TalkMobile SIM and a Three 3-2-1 SIM without any problems. I decided to swap out the TalkMobile SIM for this Data Reward SIM, but with the two Three SIMs in there I have a problem: only the SIM specified to be used for mobile data gets a signal - the other SIM registers 0 signal and you can't use it. Have tried swapping the SIMs around but still the same. I was wondering if this problem was specific to my Doogee or if it happens with other dual-SIM phones. Very annoying...
pengwyn
19 Feb 17 #63
Three havent had an underlying 2g signal for years and the second sim slot is only 2g so no joy any three sim in their if you get 321 on the data reward sim I can't see the point in doing this anyway. Just put the data reward sim in slot 1 and an sd card instead.

Received my sim yesterday which was posted out on the 14th from what the address sticker on the front says. Used it in a Moto E 2nd gen, registered via the phone browser and the PC browser and all seems to be running fine...used whatsapp no problems  ordered a second one under the missus' name, will give it to our daughter to use on her travels to and from school :stuck_out_tongue:

19 Feb 17 #65
I presume your post was in response to mine.

I'm pretty sure Three has never had a 2G signal (hence their name), and I'm pretty certain that both SIM slots in my Doogee actually support 4G. As I said, whichever SIM card I specify as preferred for data (without physically swapping them over) is the only one which gets a signal, so it would not appear to be a SIM-slot specific problem.

Has anyone tried using these in a Mifi or something similar? Unless I'm very much mistaken, these should be fine to use overseas and I'd like to take a couple with me to set up a personal wifi network so I can use my tablet - I don't suppose anyone's had any experiences with this kind of setup? Wrong, three used o2 2g network to start with whilst they built their network otherwise nobody would have used them. They then switched to orange before finally taking the executive decision to cut 2g when the network was complete which was foolish as they got poor coverage in buildings. They now released the clear call bs to Allay fears but I would always correction just have chosen ee and abandoned three because of 2g underlying. In the lakes in the hills I can take my ee data sim out of my osprey and put it in my Chinese lighter phone I mentioned this to my mother and it gives her peace of mind.
Are you sure one slot is not only 2g as one slot not accepting either sim points to this.

Bah, bit of a headache that I've only ever had with Three... I put in the sim in my phone, and tried to log in/register... took a while to get the settings to install, not a worry... but when I went to Three's site, I wanted to update my details, like email and password. The password link kept giving me a message that it didn't work and to try again later. I'm a Three customer, and have had this issue before. Had to log in to contact them, and get them to process a temp password to me so I could log in and change to my password. Worked though, so happy now  Thankies!

I have four dual-sim devices, and all of them force one slot to be 2g. The better ones allow the 3g/4g slot to be selected in software (i.e. no need to manually swap), so I guess it must be an Android restriction as both slots are clearly capable of the higher speed.

The most infuriating thing is that sales pages for dual sim devices never specify this fact.

Moving out of Wi-Fi range shouldn't stop you enjoying your tablet. On your new Data Reward plan, we'll give you a cheeky free 200MB of data each month. All you need to do is register.

First, make sure you're connected to our network. Then we can check that you've got a compatible SIM and get you online. Just turn off Wi-Fi in your device settings and then refresh this page.

Sylvia, now you can try to register your free data from the website but it still brings me back to the above wifi message!
Do I have to top up the simcard to enable me to register for the freedata? Sorry to sound so ignorant but I thought I had read this was not necessary!

At a guess (no pun intended), your mobile phone isn't accessing the internet using the SIM's mobile data servce (ie, you might be connecting using wi-fi via your internet router or the other SIM in your phone if you have 2). I would try switching off wi-fi on your handset, ensure that mobile data is not disabled and remove any other SIMs - at least until you have the Three SIM registered..

Register the sim using browser on a PC, not using the sim itself. You'll then get the 200mb credit, the Sim will then be usable.
I've done half a dozen or so this way as I only use the sims in my Android car stereo so have no text message facility

Go to three website, click register, use the phone number on the SIM card packaging to create an account. fill in your details. Sometimes the three website won't allow you to complete all details and the age times out. If it does this go to help section and contact webchat, they will help you complete registration.

Sorry to be a nuisance folks but Uridium, I did just as you say but not on the /freedata extension as it would not allow me to do anything at this point it was just locked. I tried webchat and they helped me to complete the initial registration but said I then needed to go online and register for the free data, it was just showing up on my device plan as payasyougo mobile. I tried webchat again and this time I was told that I needed to top up my simcard and then go to the three.co.uk/fre…ata page and it would automatically update my account but only once I had credited this simcard.
The webchat operator said they could not complete the freedata registration as they had no access to this facility!

25 Apr 17 #102
sorry don't know why you are having issues. As i said I simply registered my sim via the PC, put it in my car stereo, opened the three app and my 200mb data was there.

I did have an issue with one of my sims not getting the 200mb data the following month but again i spoke to webchat who resolved (eventually)

three webchat advisors are pretty awful so you may need to try a few times until you get someone useful who can help

But still, it's been around for a few months already now? (and not just via this Thread, I mean via another similar Thread to this before it!, so ... )

All good things come to an end?, unfortunately!, hehehe. :-(

Thanx for the heads up though ...

Mine proved a life saver for me a few months back!, gonna get me a few more of these sharpish! (there be LOADS of friends and family members out there that need to be spoilt via this too I reckon?). :-)

SIMs ahoy ... lol.

Yo...where'd you hear that? Gutted if so... I sodding hate the EE packs you buy. Never seem to last more than a day when you buy the £1 one. Bah!
amour3k
14 May 17 #111
Nice one, thanx. :-)

14 May 17 #112
Hehehe, I believe they meant as in, you'll be able to ONLY still get these 200MB per month SIM Freebies upto that particular date etc?, and after that, then nothing at all again like? (I could be wrong?).

But that the SIM Cards would work beyond that date regardless? (that's how I read that comment anyway?). :-)

But clarification from the one who Posted said comment would obviously be best? (as I'm curious also of where that info was also derived?), lol.

How gutted would we be! I'm doubting it will but if I doubt it too much it's bound to happen so I'm trying to stay positive with my negativity! :-D

14 May 17 #114
3 are stopping their 150mb free on the 123 normal sim , and I think that's where the date above is coming from. The text I had from them only confirmed that particular freebie was ending.
Also I have just ordered the 200mb sim and the order has been accepted, which would maybe be a little strange if it was ending in a few days.
Daytrader
14 May 17 #115
Ah, sorry guys, was on another thread that it was ending, i guess it was the 150mb deal that was ending, my bad.

Guys, if i am on EE PAYG at the moment, can i just use this sim for free 200mb by just swapping sim out, will this mess phone settings up each time i do this, cheers
Uridium
14 May 17 #117
Won't mess phone up but you'll likely get an annoying set of sms messages each time you swap networks with new settings etc...can just be deleted though.

Just pick up a dual sim phone like the amazingly brilliant for £200 Lenovo P2

Thx for reply, yeh have had thouse txts before, easy to delete, would like a dual mobile, may look into it when i next update.

Hi Sorry to be a pain but can anyone please confirm if this Sim can only be used in a tablet or dongle type device please? The last time I spoke to 3 about my problem I thought I was getting somewhere when the operator told me I could only use this sim in a tablet, dongle, Mifi or other such device, not a mobile phone!? Thank you.
Uridium
15 May 17 #121
Can be used in anything. I use them in an Android Car stereo
beansybabe
15 May 17 #122
I don't understand it, as the last time I got a really helpful person on the online chat and everything was looking good until he told me to put it in my Mifi device. When told him I was planning to use it in my mobile he said it was not possible to do so?! So sadly, I was still not able to complete my registration! :disappointed:
amour3k
16 May 17 #123
I agree, I use mine in an Android Phone ... (and no problem whatsoever!) :-)
Toonah
16 May 17 #124
Should work ok, I think they get silly as you're not meant to use it for phone calls. Not 100% what it charges you then... or if you use it for calls as well if it still works as free internet. It will work...but is meant for data only so possibly using it for calls will mean it uses a different service which takes off the free data. Could be wrong here. If you only use it for data, no calls (incoming or outgoing) on a mobile then no problem.

I'm using my card in a phone. The only problem with these cards is lack of voicemail. I spoke with three support a few months ago about this and they didn't know they have this type of cards so they had to ask their tech support about it.
After consulting with their guys the operator told me that voicemail can't be turned on on this SIM and they are meant to be used only in dongles etc. I told him that I'm using it in my phone and he said that at any point the system can decide to cancel the card for that reason. I'm not using it often(it's my secondary number), topped up with 2 pounds(the best thing about these IMHO) long time ago and don't use the free internet also so not sure if I start using it on regular basis as a phone what will happen.

I don't know why Three don't just offer 200MB free data each month on their 3-2-1 PAYG SIMs. Would make everything so much simpler and would probably attract a LOT of customers...
amour3k
17 May 17 #128
Amen to that?!.

And would also prevent people (myself included!), from having to palm off soooooo many different/seperate Pay & Go SIM Cards of there's, instead of just having the 1 SIM Card of there's to milk off of instead?, who knows ...
Chinchinabulation
20 May 17 #129
There is another thread on HUKD discussing this same SIM.

Can anyone state definitively if voicemail works or not? I'm seeing a diffferent reports between this thread and that thread. Has anyone been able to set it up, leave a voicemail, and listen to it?

10 Jun 17 #133
Did this and finally received it thank you

2 questions

Is there a way to disable it when it reaches the 200mb? I'm giving this to my mum but she's worried she might accidentally use more than that and get charged extra

Second to transfer her old Three sim number to this one I just have to call them up for the PAC code for the old one then switch it to this right?

Thanks
amour3k
11 Jun 17 #134
When you hit your 200mb for the Month they automatically text message you to tell you such? (then they disable any further Data Access, until you either pay to Top-Up, and/or 1 round of at least an extra 30+ Days has passed until your next Data Allowance?), so .....

As for your PAC question, it's yes basically. :-)
amour3k
11 Jun 17 #135
Something is wrong then?.

I've ordered a few of these over x-months (eg. multiple times, over a period of time, etc?).

And they're come within a 1.5 week window? (or only 1 week sometimes?).

Refer back to your emails inbox/spam folder, to see as to what's going on/wrong, or whatever? (as your scenario makes no sense ... )

And/or call Three Customer Services/physically turn up at a Three Store, and get them to send one/some out to you, etc? (the fact that you've gotten nowt so far anyway, what have you got to lose exactly?). :-)
eloo
11 Jun 17 #136
Oh right thanks! So they will automatically cut off internet access when it reaches the 200mb correct? That's good if so then she doesn't have to worry of going over accidentally even after the text which she doesn't read much and awesome thanks again
gwapenut
11 Jun 17 #137
No they don't cut off internet access. They only stop you if you have no credit left. The texts saying you've run out come pretty early, rather than too late, though. Often you've a dribble of data left when you get the final text.
However, you only need to top up £2 so the worst case is not that worst case really.
