The books are offered for free a month before they go on general sale, generally from an "up and coming" author. They tell you what genre each book is so just see what what books you might be interested in and check the reviews which start to appear once others have "bought" it and reviewed it. When they first go up nobody will know if any of them are any good as nobody has had a chance to read them yet.
