IMO yes, the first town etc is a bit slow but you get introduced to some very important characters. Seem to recall there's a lot of foreshadowing...

amazing game was so glad when it went backwards compatible but now it's free! definitely worth a try if you you like final fantasy type games

You don't need Gold for this - it's for everyone, as you've seen.

I don't have gold and I got it. 22gb on xb1. I'm assuming it doesn't mean you can only play it during the free period.

Wow this game is boring so far! Played it for a couple of hours and it is rather tedious. Does it get better?

People sell their 360 and then who knows few years down the line Microsoft will re release a 360 model with built in games and then everyone will go crazy for it lol

I don't get it. Why don't people just play them on 360? They sit around for years saying "I wish this was backwards compatible", "make this backwards compatible", and then when they do, they act like it's the best thing that's ever happened, when they could have been playing it on 360 all that time.

I can confirm it works without Xbox Live Gold. Just need to sign on to your Microsoft account, add a credit card for payment of nothing, then once "purchased", remove the card if you want. It's an Xbox 360 game but backward compatible on Xbox One. 22.43Gb download. Quite hefty. Still waiting for it to download and install, 10% completed.... :disappointed:

A must (it's free, so I mean as a time investment) for anyone who liked the PS1/PS2 & Sakaguchi era of Final Fantasy. I've always considered it the 12th and final (heh) "real" Final Fantasy under a different name. Superb game. If you're an emotional sort, there will be tears at those dream sequences.

Nice but also noticed Minecraft story mode is also FREE

A great game - really engaging story and characters that aren't one-dimensional. If you have the time to sink into it you won't be disappointed (despite a bit of grinding)!

Great game make sure you read all of the flash back stories from his life, some of them are well written for a jrpg, one of the best RPGs I've played.

I am very happy about this - I recently got an Xbox One and this is the one 360 exclusive game that I still wanted to play that wasn't on the backwards compatibility list. I did buy it back in the day but was never able to finish it due to a scratched disc. I remember I got it because it was directed by the guy who directed Final Fantasy IV, a personal favourite of mine, and the graphics just blew my mind (it was one of my first 360 games). So I can't wait to be able to (re)play it on Xbox One - and therefore PC, via streaming.

Thanks! Got it on disc but it's more convenient to play as a digital version. Really good game, serious lack of decent J-RPG games recently.

Handy, I sold the physical copy a couple of weeks ago before a house move...hopefully didn't delete my disc 3 save file! oO

Are there any decent deals on any games on the xbox store atm? I've still got that compensatory 'make good' credit from the Halo Fan Bundle cock up. Think I've got about £100 of it to spend in the next few days. Wanted to save it for Red Dead, or buy PES with it, but neither seem to be on there :neutral_face:

Can't believe how long its been since I completed this. Excellent game, especially on Xbox One back-compat as it has a significantly smoother framerate, compared to the X360.

I seem to be using my XB360 more than my my PS4 these days with all the cheap and now free games!

Bought Assassins Creed 2 for 54p, yesterday I picked up Gears Of War 2 for 75p and now this for free!!
Beats paying £40 for a new game so gives me something to play whilst waiting for PS4 games to drop in price.

I was prepared to buy this as never got the chance to play it first time around so thank you Microsoft for making it free during the holiday season! Blue Dragon has also been added to the backwards compatibility but not free. I was just reading...
