spotted this today but was doing in last night too
Festive chippy offers free food for the needy over Christmas weekend
Chips may not be traditional festive fare but the British favourite is on the menu at a fish bar which is opening on Christmas Day to feed the needy and homeless.
The Market Fish Bar 5 Salop St, Wolverhampton WV3 0RX Wolverhampton city centre for Christmas day.
As well as chips, the restaurant will be serving up curry, chilli, samosas, pakoras and beans at the Salop Street restaurant. So as not to exclude anyone, all the food will be vegetarian. They will also make hot drinks and sandwiches.
The chippie will be open between 11am and 1pm on Christmas Day

I know this is a forum for deals but if you are online you cannot be that needy. Hope people pass on the info to the NEEDY not the GREEDY.

The amount of money swilling around in this country we should all be ashamed that anybody is sleeping on the streets on any day of the year.

It's in Wolverhampton, they're needy.
No one's going to drive there for free fish and chips!
I live in Peterborough. So recognise a place that isn't worth traveling to ... Even for free chips!

Absolute nonsense. Someone sleeping in a shop doorway doesn't stop being needy because they have internet access, or are you suggesting they'd better sell their smartphone for £50 before they deserve any help?
Never mind all of the libraries, shelters, charities etc that might provide free internet access.
Such a lovely thing to do for those less fortunate ❤❤❤

Well not people who can afford to go online for sure - I would think this is aimed at those living rough or those who cannot afford a hot dinner today not those trawling websites for deals.

Not for people that can afford to go online? How about people that can afford to spend the equivalent amount on alcohol each month?

Very presumptuous, how do you not know someone is not sacrificing hot food and living off sandwiches so they can afford internet access to find a better job.

Sorry OP but imo I'm not sure this should have been posted. Some people will be sure to take advantage and it might ruin it for those who it was aimed at helping. I just don't think this should have been shared with a wider audience, it just wasn't that kind of 'deal'.

Needy and the homeless. Not hot deal scroungers, like myself. And anyway if I made the trip I wouldn't be back in time to eat my nearly out of date reduced sainsburys turkey I bought yesterday.

This is the third deal of this type I've seen so far. Great idea and well done to those people who are doing this they deserve all the praise and respect they get.
For some reason thou I don't really think that this is the correct place for this type of deal. Surely this has been advertised locally within the areas concerned to the very people they are aiming such an idea at already ,not sure what sharing nationally achieves. Perhaps a new community of local section may be in order for such ideas

There shouldn't be anyone on the streets in the first place especially with the benefits in this country and nothing should be free people should pay

I think this is a lovely gesture and I think the NONE NEEDY should go to the fish bar and maybe donate a bit of cash £1 or £2 to help the shop owner with the costs. If I wash nearer I would do that. Something for people to think about

Good on e people who are working Christmas Day for a start and helping others...commendable
I agree this should not need to happen but there are a lot of homeless out there...
As we eat our Christmas lunches and open our expensive presents we should be thinking of them and if we can donating to Shelter

So it is vegetarian only to be inclusive? They could be more inclusive by doing both vegetarian and meat-based dishes. Why not admit it is veggie just to keep costs down.

Not sure this site is best place for this to be promoted, but then that's the problem with t'internet...just because you can, doesn't mean you should.
Hopefully there are similar offers in other parts of the country that are being advised to just those who will benefit most, and who won't be judged on the quality of their Sally Army handout clothes, or the perceived value of their PAYG phones
God knows why/how we've ended up with such a large group of spiteful, cynical, thoughtless, inconsiderate buffons - there but for the Grace of God, especially at this time of year
Merry Christmas everyone, God Bless you All

Nothing really out of the ordaniary. Sikh temples have been open 365 days a year for the past 400 years giving free food.
These great people have just adapted their store in order to do their "seva" as Sikhs

Your spending your time looking for freebies, when you obviously don't need them and looking down on the people, who might actually need the freebies.Seems a bit ironic.
