Okay so this may have been posted before but not many people know about it!
If you live in SCOTLAND and your child goes to primary/secondary school they are entitled to use the free Microsoft office software pre loaded onto their glow account.
If your child does not know their glow username/password then ask their school to give it to you, they are entitled to it and it's FREE!
May come in handy if santa is planning on bringing a laptop/computer for school work and may save you buying an expensive Microsoft office package!
also works for students in Northern Ireland within the C2k system

So why not commend the Scottish Government for free prescriptions / uni places / Microsoft Office, and lobby your own uncaring government down there, who are only interested in looking after the privileged few. The only reason I can think some of you are shouting us Scots down is pure jealousy. What else can it be?

The EU bureaucrats you're probably referring to are actually elected you know. Maybe not directly by us but I don't recall Theresa May and her cabinet being directly elected by us either...
And for the record, human trafficking is the trade of humans usually against their will and for horrible things. Please don't belittle it for such petty arguments.

Don't belittle the open border policy set forth by the EU my friend because the crime and rape statistics resulting from it are appalling. Hardly a petty argument.

Because we've not had to deal with austerity like the rest of the UK?
It'll probably get worse as I suspect next year the snp will increase income tax, and the councils will be allowed to increase council tax.

Silly, childish comment. Especially considering the fact Scotland and its people have subsidised the UK for generations. Directly through taxes and indirectly by taking on a greater portion of running the country as a whole.
How we spend our taxes, feeding, educating and looking after people (all people) should be an example to England. However, the English would rather pretend they still have an empire. While giving up the right to a good education and health care.
The education system in England has been so far behind ours for so long it has allowed the mentality that has led to Farage and that blonde idiot winning votes.

Haha. Political and racial arguments on a post about kids getting free m$ office. Why is it some people find any excuse to vent their anger at their neighbour and not the people who actually take from them?

As you will hopefully see in a post that's being moderated! I swear theres nothing bad in my post! Your deal isn't political from my perspective. I think an only Scots deal has English people that come on and say we're being subsided and then Scottish people or people living in Scotland try to defend our policies. Again, I am truly sorry. :-)

So the person that's fulfilled your amazon delivery living in a tent in Dunfermline is in the same position as the investment banker with his swanky pad in central London. The government should pay for these drugs and ensure that any pharmaceutical company that takes advantage is penalised/fined etc as per a recent story on the governments website, I mean BBC.
To an extent the SNP are a disaster but they are genuinely the ONLY PARTY THAT CARES FOR SCOTLAND.
Labour and the Tories have their whole 'UK' party to think about. I would be more UK supportive if all the individual countries had more of an equal say but as it is, England ultimately calls the shots over everyone else.
I will not be commenting further. As I said earlier I'm sorry for reacting. The Scots aren't freeloaders, I don't dislike the rest of the UK etc but as things stand everything about the UK is broken. Take care cousins.....

I find it really demoralising that some people are voting this cold and leaving nasty political comments.
Ultimately this deal is to help children's education by giving them the tools necessary to succeed, not everyone can afford a Microsoft office package on top of a new laptop/pc.
I'm sorry if your area doesn't offer something like this but this thread was started to make those eligible aware that it is there for use.

""why should anyone have to pay for drugs that make a difference?""
so there is more money available to buy and develop better drugs... are you against the nhs having more money. paying £8.40 for drugs is nothing yet when the government takes on the small payment on behalf of everyone it becomes a massive burden.. it's why Scotland is running a 9% spending deficit. the interest on this wipes out a massive chunk of the budget and it's getting worse. soon Scotland will have to go through austerity.
I love Scotland. my family are from edinbane on the Isle of skye. the snp are a disaster.

Do you know what? Our free prescriptions policy isn't as hard as I would like it but why should anyone have to pay for drugs that make a difference? Now I'm sure you're all now going to start giving examples of drugs that cost lots of money for little impact but the general stance still stands.
I'd also like to see the more wealthy pay more towards care, not get free buses etc but then the cost of initiating and running this would outweigh any savings.
Ultimately I'd like to see a citizens grant that everyone would be entitled to. It would cover all your basic needs so it would then be up to you to work, be a lazy so and so or help in your community to make a difference.

Devolution means different areas will make different spending choices. The same happens to a lesser degree with local authorities - one pays for different things than another.

It would be xenophobia.
It's not though... stating the until Scotland, Wales and/or Northern Ireland have independence and are not part of Great Britain it should be fair to expect that all children get the same benefits, that universities should charge the same and prescriptions should cost the same. Especially when thI country that pays the highest tax per head average gets the least spend per head.
Either way don't pull the racism card if you mean xenophobic.

It's actually quite refreshing to have Scottish availability highlighted, and then learn in the comments section that it's "also available in England and Wales". It's so often the other way about.

As a Scottish teacher, teaching in Scotland, I took up this offer earlier in the year. It was a deal that Microsoft agreed on with the Scottish government. What a terribly ignorant comment to make, suggesting that those down south are the ones subsiding this fantastic offer??? We all subsidise it by being tax payers?!
Its a fantastic deal and be sure to snap it up before the contract ends!!

Sorry to break up the hand bag fights at dawn fights but I live in England and received this deal last year. My children are at Secondary school in County Durham.
