Spotted this while setting up Microsoft Teams (Slack competitor).
You can sign up for a Microsoft Office 365 developer account free for 1 year, which gives you access to full Microsoft Office (including app downloads) for up to 25 users, with 5 app installs per user, Skype for Business, Sharepoint and Exchange email.
Obviously if you want to continue after a year there is a cost (£5.10 per user per month) but there's no cheaper way to get Office for a year... plus the tools to develop for things like Teams (my interest).

Yeah it does. I've just signed up and checked the "Storage Metrics" section of the OneDrive account I set up in the Developer Program and it displays 1024 GB :smiley:

Interesting offer. I have a personal 365 account paid until 2018 (with Office products) and an essential business account (with email but no Office products). Does the developer account include Project? If so, it might be worth me signing up to it. Otherwise, I don't really have a need unfortunately.

I think they've foreseen the possibility it gets seen as "free office for a year" hence putting a limit on codes for developers. I think this is expired personally.

Guess it depends if you want to pay or have something for free. Look at Linux, ubuntu, completely free so small in size compared to Windows, far more stable. My last PC was on its last legs or so it seemed, crashed every 20mins with windows, format, clean install, up to date, still crashed, yet when i used ubuntu, not a single crash. Can be a bit more complicated to get certain things you want on there but the community is so helpful, you'll find answers in no time. Back on Windows now with a new PC, if i could get my adobe programs or something as good as on ubuntu id stay on that

So out of interest; what's the big advantage of using this instead of say Libre Office and occasionally Google Docs and drive if you need access on the go?
I mean for the average user, is it worth eventually paying out for a service like this?
Just found this interesting article about open source alternatives to 365.
Knowing that instead of just being able to open files, they will definitely be compatible and behave the same way. I've tried many office alternatives and they all like doing something funky with complex excel sheets.

Update on November 11 2016: Developer subscriptions are temporarily unavailable. Sign up will appear to succeed, but the activation email will not be sent. Normal service will resume soon.
