If it redirects you to UK site just click the "Based on your location you have been directed to audible.co.uk. Do you want to go to audible.com ?" banner at the top of the screen to go back to US and you should see the offer, if not follow the link again and it should stick this time.
You should see a big banner for it on the 1st screen.
Follow through and you can buy it for $0.00
I logged in with my normal amazon account and it seems to have worked.

The promo code is: SHADOWS
Try entering that on checkout. It worked for me
Worked OK by redirection then signing in using UK account. Using the Audible web cloud player to listen rather than messing up my UK Audible player settings.

Hi
I got notification that I had 'purchased' the audio book but I think to be able to listen you have to complete the transaction i.e sign-up for the 30 day trial.
So great if anybody was able to find a way of listening.
Maybe they could upload to youtube.

That link did it (rather than the icon deal link): thanks very much; some browser gives you this message, some not and stay in audible.co.uk, so just have to try various device browser, If it redirects you to UK site just click the "Based on your location you have been directed to audible.co.uk. Do you want to go to audible.com ?"

Looks like this adds it to your Audible.com account and your Audible.co.uk won't see the item. The only way I can listen to it is via the site and going to the Audible.com site rather than .co.uk.

Same here, to be expected, I suppose, proper promotions are different in countries and copyright law kicks in

Might be able to add it from the US store to apple devices via iTunes and keep all your UK content via the app, I;ll try later

Downloaded it with Audible Download Manager fine (after faffing to make it open the download link), it shows up in iTunes, added to iPod to sync, uploads to iPod, doesn't show on the first sync but does on the second (as is often the case with iTunes), and plays just fine. So you can use your app for UK account and the iBooks app for US/Other. Not sure if there'd be equivalent method for android. Enjoy!

Used a credit on this and it's extremely good, closer to the old Star Wars radio adaptation than the typical overacting found in some full-cast performances. Excellent as a sci-fi thriller in its own right and fits far better into the Alien universe than Resurrection or Prometheus

Worked for me. Got onto Audible.Com website (had to tell browser to go to that site instead of UK site), logged into site using my Audible.co.uk login and password, put audible book in basket, added SHADOWS to discount code box, price dropped to $0, added my UK address when asked, it had already picked up my UK credit card details, it confirmed cost was $0 so no charge to card, and just got email saying it is available for download. I guess only minor issue might be if they decide it is an error they could charge my credit card. However I did not put any false info in e.g. false USA address and it is owned by Amazon who have been pretty good in the past with me on things like this e.g. price errors. I suspect this may not work if you do not have a UK audible account in the first place.

Audible have horrible DRM. I'm not paying for anything unless I can put it on any device I want and play it with any player that I want, I'm not even claiming any freebies unless I can do the same with them.
The funny thing is, as is always the case with DRM it doesn't help them out at all, it's already been pirated. Meanwhile, people who might otherwise pay for it are being put off by the DRM.

IIRC you can legitimately burn audible files to Audio CD-R in iTunes a limited number of times. If you recompress again there'll be a generational loss unless you use flac, not ideal but at least you can back that up and use anywhere you'd like.

Has anyone been able to download a version which is 44.1KHz rather than 22KHz? I've selected the enhanced quality download, but it's still low quality. I downloaded directly as I'm using a mac, does anyone know if the download manager pulls a better quality one? Cheers.

If it's like the iOS app sign out in the app and make sure you have the correct market selected, ie audible.com rather than audible.co.uk then when you log in you'll be able to see the US content. The option is at the bottom in very small print on the iOS app.

iTunes in itself is DRM and requires Windows or Mac OS. It's also a lot of hassle to go through in order to play a file on a portable audio player, Linux etc. I shouldn't have to do things like that when I'm wanting to give a company money (yes, I realise this one is gratis until 2nd November).
Since I don't own anything running Windows, Mac OS or any similar malware or own anything to play a CD, In order to do that I'm assuming I'd have to do something like this...download a copy of Windows and install it in a virtual machine, install Audible's client, install itunes, find a CD-R from somewhere, burn it, rip it, copy it to my device and finally I can listen to it. Not worth it.
Compare this to piracy, what would I have to do in that situation? Click the link to download then either open the audio file in my media player or copy it to a device of my choice and play it.
My point is, DRM harms and inconveniences legitimate users but it does not harm, inconvenience or stop people who pirate things and obtain pirated versions.
Audible need to have a look at how GOG do things. In fact, every digital content provider needs to have a look at how GOG does things.

I don't recall indicating that I was an advocate of DRM. I agree, especially looking at gog's model. My suggestion would be simpler (though still a lot of faff) for the majority who use Windows or Mac on their desktop/laptop PCs - Unfortunately linux support isn't where it should be with Audible.
I've just been victim of the Sainsburys Entertainment On Demand Closure, losing access to a Film I'd bought, fortunately I've had a refund and can re-purchase the film elsewhere, though I think I'll be buying a physical disc of it next time! At least the books are being transferred to Kobo (but they are ePubs anyway), and the music is unencumbered MP3. So I certainly have no love for DRM either.

If you have the audible app on your phone you need to log out and then login again with amazon.com as your market. Once downloaded you should be able to log back into the Amazon.co.uk market and listen without problems
Opening post
Follow the link http://www.audible.com/alien
If it redirects you to UK site just click the "Based on your location you have been directed to audible.co.uk. Do you want to go to audible.com ?" banner at the top of the screen to go back to US and you should see the offer, if not follow the link again and it should stick this time.
