They don't 'insist'; the loading at boot time is easily turned off in the options.

I play Far Cry and Assassins Creed through it. The interface is clean, much better than Origin.

I went on the Uplay Client and it says get "The Crew for free on September 14th" ? Maybe it has something to do with that?

It was already posted. It isn't as if this is a thing that is a couple years old, the deal was posted within the month about the free monthly game, you can't keep posting it within that month.
