There's a glitch with the drive controllers that maxes out disk activity. This causes the whole PC to slow down and then start up again. Not sure what causes it but the issue is directly related to the anniversary update.

Ah my bad! It didn't show the whole quoted conversation! I thought it meant it was a quicker way to upgrade to anniversary edition. Sorry :stuck_out_tongue:

Of course it worked, they asked how to find out what version they on. Winver shows that

Why are they forcing you to have that absolute garbage AU update , It has broken two laptops of mine which i had to completely reinstall windows 8.1 on
And made my gaming rig completely unusable with the random freezes.
There is no way i am going to the AU Update . I have Deferred updates and completely blocked the windows update service from running .
Shame really as i wouldn't mind trying Halo out to be fair

Strange, I have updated my laptop, nuc, gaming pc, work pc, work laptop. The only problem I have seen so far (in the last month or so) is that my pptp tunnel doesn't let me select connect or disconnect every time and I have to close and re-open it.
Gaming, and general use has worked fine since, along with steam in home streaming and nvidia streaming to my shield.
I have had no worries about suggesting that family and friends update to it.

That update has worked sweet on all my systems, I don't see what the problem is?

could be a stupid question but the store page is very unspecific - is forge just the level editor, or can you actually play those levels online against people without owning a copy of halo 5 ?

shame the pc port is a bit sucky...
also you should all look at Halo Online. its a free standalone halo game getting frequent updates. all it needs is more players!

If you don’t receive the Anniversary Update automatically go to Start > Settings > Update & security > Windows Update, and then click Check for updates. This should force the Anniversary Update for your PC

This didn't work for me (I wanted to play forza 6 apex, which also needs it). You will know immediately if you don't have the update as I didn't as it flat out refuses to let you download the game (the button is greyed out) if you don't have it (way to force your updates on us MS). On the game page it gives you a link to follow to download the update installer manually, it isn't displaying anymore on mine since I installed it but I just downloaded the installer and ran it, following the steps. It takes over an hour so don't do it when you need to use the PC.
In my case no matter how many times I checked for updates it kept reporting none available, so I had to force the update this way. Microsoft must be incredibly slow at sending these updates out as my other PC hasn't received it either, you would really think they would be more on the ball with it when such high profile games in the store require it to even install!

Your pc will randomly freeze, Menu`s will become unresponsive,Games will lag and some will be forced to only use 60FPS even though the PC is capable of running the game at 10 times as many.
Some hard drives will appear to have failed but they have not thats is just the operating system bugging out as when you revert (roll back ) your drives suddenly work again.
Seriously stay well away from the AU update . it is beyond awful,How they can release it is completely crazy , Certainly not fit for purpose .

If showing as "unavailable", manually launch the MS store and search for "Halo Forge Bundle"
You will need the Windows-10 Anniversary Update:
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/p/?LinkId=821403
Make sure you have DirectX12 installed also and that your graphics card supports Direct X Feature Level 12
You may also need to set your Region and Language settings to USA (through Windows-10)

Click on "Update Now". That will tell you if an update needs to be applied.
Even quicker way:
Windows keys -> type "winver" -> press enter -> Anniversary update is version 1607
