I was thinking of the town centre when I said pedestrianised area, not the seafront, although that too is a badly signed mess.

Just be careful, as you make your way around Hastings, of all the idiots on bikes who don't understand what a pedestrianised area means, oh and on the pavements to.

I think you will find that the area you are referring to is actually a cycle lane one side and a path the other. Is more likely than pedestrians are in the wrong lane than cyclists but then out of towners are expected to not know this
