Diana Rigg (Mrs. Peel) was my childhood feminist icon. I adored The Avengers' witty eccentric guest actors and the sublime scripts they had to deliver. Laurie Johnson's score is my all-time favourite TV show theme tune. His incidental music provided a thrilling backdrop to the action.
I considered myself a very lucky boy at 9/10 years as Ms. Rigg's mother lived just up the road from me in Oakwood Avenue and Diana, her mother and I chatted quite often. Trevor Preston (Wrote The Sweeny and produced The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, lived a few doors down from us. To top it Peter Cook would sometimes drop in for a gossip as he lived on Scotts Lane just around the corner from home.
Sadly, kids have suffered a couple generations of untalented and brainless "celebrities" thrust upon them by misogynist TV producers and Media Magnates who believe the only thing marketable or worthy about women are their surgically altered chests.

Good one Boz, a lot to get through there. Noticed Laurel & Hardy on This is Your Life. All a bit before my time of course  but will enjoy getting through it.

Thank you so much, I just had a great time watching the first episode of the Beverly Hillbillies. Still funny, and I remember it from when it first aired, along with many of these shows. Brilliant find.
