"PC" actually refers to a machine build by IBM. All others are just compatibles. I've never seen an IBM PC sold with any of the operating systems you list other than Windows.
I've used DOS OS/2 and been using Linux since 1993 but I'd never have any doubt over what anybody in 2016 meant if they asked if it was only for PC.
I think you just need to chill out a bit, fredoaf isn't ignorant he just isn't OCD.

Looking forward to this, great to see it's finally getting a proper release. Though it isn't made clear on the site but looking at the reviewers comments it seems to be multiplayer only? I know the great multiplayer modes were a huge part of Goldeneye but I loved the single player missions as well, especially with the difficulty based objectives and the cool unlockable extras and cheat codes.
Was really hoping this would be a recreation of the whole game rather than just the multiplayer side, though still impressive of course...

It is absolutely multiplayer only - no "campaign" mode with missions or objectives. The best they offer are AI bots to play against, but it's not a single player game.

This was originally released in 2009 as a modification for Half-Life 2, and has always been free.
The latest news is around the release of version 5.0 (Edit: 2 years in development since 4.0) - which I have to admit does look pretty spectactular!

No it's not, it's like saying "This game is only available on console" when in reality it's only available on Xbox (Same scummy company too, what an appropriate analogy).
"PC" refers to the hardware, there are many operating systems available for that hardware, Linux, Unix, BSD, Mac OS even Chrome OS and Android now....oh yes, there's Windows too. Also a handful of other more obscure operating systems which I doubt games marketed as being "For PC" will run on.
So really, when you say something is for PC you just sound like an idiot, we'd already assumed it wouldn't run on a mainframe but we would like to know which operating system it does run on. I'd expect it from Windows users but someone wanting to run this on Linux really should know better.
Haha clearly not what I meant. Although quite appropriate since there can't be equality when running Windows and other proprietary software so Windows absolutely isn't PC.

Thank you - and for your information Im a computer engineer with Microsoft Qualifications in WINDOWS from my previous job, I use a Mac at home and in my current job I use Linux, so yeah, i'm just not a Linux nerd.

Weird because I was sure those true IBM ones ran DOS and there were a few other operating systems available for them, none of which were Windows...until later but that was mostly "IBM Compatible"? I've certainly never seen a true IBM PC running Windows 10, 11, 666 or whatever they're up to this week. To anyone that doesn't have undying loyalty to an evil corporation like IBM, in 2016 it at the very least it means "IBM Compatible PC" ie, not a mainframe.

There are different types of screwdrivers and other tools, you need to refer to the one that you actually need not just the general category of the item.
No, the version of the Source Engine SDK that it uses is much older than the current one and pre-dates Linux support. You might be able to use Wine but that's not native Linux and doesn't count

Thankyou for providing me with information. So we've established that Micro$oft gave you a certificate to show that you can click through their wizards, how great you are. The majority of people with Microsoft certifications that I've dealt with are clueless, especially about anything to do with real computing (ie not a Microsoft product).

Sort of surprised at that to be honest, given the amount of emulator/ROM hosting sites. Who knows, Nintendo and the creators might work something out.

Installed this game, played it for 3 minutes, uninstalled again. Not a fan. Multiplayer games have come a long way.

It didn't give a choice of install path at all.
c: is the system drive, never a good idea to install anything on it...aside from performance compromises, it's a ball ache if the uninstaller is broken, like this one is.

This should run on non-gaming PC's without a problem, it runs on the Source gaming engine (hence the name), which is about 11 years old.

You don't need Half Life 2, you need Source SDK Base 2007 installed. It's free on Steam, to get it you go to Library > Tools, scroll down to Source SDK Base 2007 and install it. Then install the GoldenEye Setup .exe file, and you're good to go. The game will appear in your normal Steam library just like your other Steam games.
