Been playing this game since launch and it still has a massive community behind it, the base game came out near on two years ago now. we have had three expansions since then with another massive one due in September.
Destiny is one of the best shooters I've ever played, and that's why i keep coming back to it, the six player raids are unlike anything I've ever played in any other game. There's nothing like that feeling when your all working together to take down a massive boss.

DESTINY: DIGITAL PURCHASE AVAILABILITY FOR BASE GAME
ALL PLATFORMS
The original Destiny adventure may appear to be free on some digital console marketplaces.
While players may download the Destiny base game, they will only be granted access to the Destiny Trial Mode for free. If players wish to progress through the original Destiny adventure via digital download, they will be required to purchase Destiny - The Collection to gain access to this content.

Believe me, you wouldn't want to see Destiny on the 360.

Definitely not worth grabbing. The game is awful even for free.

No idea how you've come to that conclusion. Huge amount of content for nothing, should not be sniffed at.

so basically it's a demo then?

You'd probably get about 10-15 hours out of the base game, but as soon as you hit the level cap (20) you'll start to hit paywalls because a lot of the end game content will be locked to level 40.

I've just started playing and it's quite fun, picked it up for something stupid like £3 so if it's free now it's worth it even for a blast through the campaign. I'm not playing that heavily but i hit level 20 after a week.
It's only a grind if you are one of those people who MUST have all the best items, with the best level and stats and are obsessed with the PVP part.
I can't see the point of online only games but as it was cheap i gave it a go, played through the campaign mostly solo and would say it was good if you get it less that £10, i can see why it would be disappointing at full price though!

But its not all of the content for free, read first comment, looks like a trial, which will then ask you to purchase the DLC packs to continue.

Only a trial :disappointed:

Perhaps. Im not sure what the trial mode entials but if it is vanilla destiny, thats a huge amount of content. Even if its not, its still free! Some of the best gunplay mechanics ever made imo

I owned on release was dissapointed with the grind redoing same levels rebought a couple weeks ago and loving it now such a completer difference from when first released
So its not free? Its just the same as the trial version? Already have ttk on PS4 but might have been willing to give it a try on XB1 if it was the actual vanilla game.

This game needs to die. Locking out Xbone players for 2 years yet it costs the same price. Get stuffed Bungie, I hope Destiny 2 bankrupts the company

24 Aug 16#25
Locking you out of what exactly? If you're talking about the PlayStation exclusive stuff, that's a tiny portion of the game as it's only a few average items (bar Hawkmoon in Y1) a **** map and strike. That's the same as all games though that have console exclusive content.

Huge Bungie fan. Was super excited for Destiny. Game was dead within a few days. Even for free I doubt I would jump back in. Awful game.

thats rubbish, a completely uninformed opinion, I never have a problem getting in strikes, old or new and deathmatches ever, there's no shortage of players

24 Aug 16#24
Maybe I didn't word that correctly. For me, the game was dead within a few days. I play Halo with a group and we were all stoked for Destiny. 2-3 days in people started dropping out. A week or 2 in and nobody was playing it.
There was very little content and the content that was there got boring fast. I normally enjoy grindy games and love shooters so this game ticked all the right boxes. It just failed to deliver.
It's cool that you like it and are still enjoying it but there was a lot of people let down and that is evident from the comments on social media, articles etc. I guess it was just overhyped. Just my opinion.

Great game. Loads to do and if you into it easter eggs. So much fun with friends. Not been into a game as much as this in ages.

Have you tried The Taken King? Vanilla Destiny was pretty poor from a content point of view and I dropped off before the first paid DLC but a year later I caved and ended up getting TTK and couldn't have been happier! It was a really really impressive improvement, loads more content to burn through, loads! It was basically how the game should have released.

TTK is amazing, spend a lot of my gaming life on it, just waiting for Rise Of Iron now, which also looks amazing.

I didn't play any of the DLC. I felt so robbed buying the base game I didn't want to give them any more money. I think if Bungie didn't move to Activision the game could have been way better. I have a feeling that Activision made them split the game up the way they did. Obviously for money reasons. So I didn't want to pay them any more.

If you're able to get a cheap pre-order on Rise of Iron I 100% would. I was incredibly annoyed with the launch of Destiny and how they handled the DLC structure but for me they redeemed themselves with TTK and I hope they follow suit with ROI. Either way, you're able to get the collection for (based on a quick search) £38.85 on shop to, this includes the base game + 2 initial DLCs, TTK and ROI, you'll get tons of content!

Can't stand these online multi player games. Prefer first person story driven. First to star wars kotor games were great then they ruined the 3rd being online. Was hoping for so much more from destiny.

The Old Republic isn't a sequel to the KOTOR games, just shares the universe. And from what I've heard, you can play it single player (but connected online) and the story missions are as close to the KOTOR games as you can get until a real sequel arrives.

See the problem I have now is that I have too many games and not enough time to play (I have kids). So just can't jump back in. If they had me from the beginning I may still be playing. Once bitten twice shy and all that.

I don't understand people that moan about the price of the updates but are fine with buying a rehashed Fifa or Cod year after year. for the amount of hours I've spent on this game over two years its been out it owes me a lot lot less then any other game I've ever bought inc buying two copy's for both consoles and some silver
Raids, nightfalls, trials,Iron banner,SRL,Strikes,COO all with monthly/weekly resets ect how much content do you want?

Agreed, this game is huge now, yes, it was lacking at the beginning, but there is so much to do now, and I'm afraid no other first person shooter even comes close the the way the guns feel in Destiny. I feel fine spending what I have on this game, probably £100 now with expansions in total, but the time I have spent on it validates that cost. So, if you're on Xbox one, need a fire team for RoI, feel free to add "TheVicinity", and search "SuicideSyndicate" clan on Bungie and come and join 100 other like-minded guardians.
