I needed a SIM with data so that I coIlay Pokemon Go and my family recommended me this SIM, and the best thing about this SIM is that it's absolutely free of charge! Also it gives you 200MB free every month. I tried it out and it gave me a pretty fast internet connection. Definitely would recommend this SIM. All you have to do is go to the link and fill in the form. The SIM will be ordered to your home within a couple of weeks max. EDIT: I don't know why but the link is glitching out. just go to the link and click on sim. There should be an option that says "get a free sim"
And somewhere else, found that there is a limit of 5 per household, so if you bagged 5 and rotated them, you could do a GB per month

Freedompop also do a 200mb a month free data sim with no strings attached. They're owned by Three so coverage is identical. I've been using it for half a year as a 2nd sim card in my phone and it's great in a pinch. 200mb is plenty for me. I would imagine this sim works in almost the same way, so here have some heat.

R.e. using this sim to make calls, is it definitely on the 3.2.1. call charge rate? Any idea how long the credit lays for if you don't use it?
I'm looking at something for my father, he just needs a sim that will work without typing up every month, so that we can get hold of him and, very occasionally he might make the occasional call. I don't really want to mess apps with sim only, monthly contracts and was thinking payg, so this looks handy.

Yes mine works without topping up. Handy for when I go on holiday to the States later in the year. Thanks OP, great find.
Just got this error by clicking the link. I thought that had been fixed but don't know why I thought it.

Have you actually looked at that page? There is absolutely no mention of the free 200mb of free data that I asked about, so why post that link?

Okay, it looks like my firefox browser hops from the given link to http://www.three.co.uk/store?id=DGB03 for some reason! Just tried the link in another browser and the page opens with the info there -- thanks.

Just before I order one, I just want to make sure.
I can put this into my phone as a normal sim and just use Internet?
I do not need to pay anything or activate anything with money or a card?
And lastly, I do not have to put in a cc to pay Incase I go over the 200mb limit?
Thnaks!

Excellent, I can put this in my other sim slot in my dual mobile in case I can't get EE coverage any time :-)

Owned by Three? Never knew that, thought they were an American company starting to retail over here? They piggy back on the Three network.

How do they know I'm tethering? And how can they block it?

They inspect the header data of your data packets. Your web browser/router/modem all add on bits of identification information when you are requesting data from a server, which looks completely different to what a mobile phone sends out to identify itself.
When they detect that, say for example you are trying to load the Wikipedia homepage, instead of sending the Wikipedia homepage to your web browser, they intercept it and they'll send you a html page that says "hey you can't tether using this SIM card"

Not only do they know... you will get a warning to cease & desist of have your data cut altogether.

correct link for all you guys not seeing free 200mb sim. scroll down half way through the page and you will be able to order your free sim.
I just ordered mine. awesome deal
The big advantage of this deal over FreedomPop (if I'm understanding it right) is that there is no credit card attached to this, and so no risk of running up charges due to going over the free quota.

If I'm not mistaken doesn't the Three reward sim require a top-up or chargeable event (text) at least once every 6 months? Freedompop don't require that. I've also used my entire Freedompop limit before and it simply means you don't get any more data. I have zero concerns that they are ever going to charge me for anything.
It seems they've changed the activation process slightly. Now you need to make an upfront payment of £0.99. I'd say it's well worth it.
Make sure to cancel the trials they automatically put you on for their premium services. I remember I had to do that when I got mine. It's easy to do though and it's made very clear to me on their website that my service is 100% free.

You are mistaken  whilst true of a voice SIM this only needs you to use a bit of the data within the six month window.

Sounds pretty good then. I just remember ordering one a while back out of curiosity and seeing something like that in the small print
While I agree that it is possible to turn auto-topup off and thus avoid further charges, I would always prefer to have no payment details registered with a company offering me something free like this - there are still reports of people being charged at times; while it may be possible to get this refunded, it's a bit of a pain.
If this SIM does indeed turn out to be 200mb a month for free with no top-up or card required, I'll put my FreedomPop SIM in a drawer until such time as this offer is withdrawn
Incidentally, is it possible to use FreedomPop's free data without installing that hideous messaging app that tries to take over the whole phone even though the service is beyond useless for calls? I'm tempted to uninstall it completely as I seem to recall the data starts working as soon as you insert the SIM even without the app, but does it keep working?

The problem is I don't think 3 ever published definitive small print relating specifically to this sim, what you end up with is a mix of details for the 1Gb plus free 200Mb sim and 321 voice sim dependant on which path you follow, both of which rely on top ups.
From memory, it does say in very simple terms how it works on the card the sim comes in but it does have a too good to be true ring to it which would lead you to believe there's a catch but there is no more specific detail.
Suffice to say you don't need to add any payment details to activate the sim so auto top ups would be a non issue anyway despite some people on here wanting it to be a problem.
With regard to the freedompop offering, from personal experience it may be using 3's network but reception is awful compared proper 3 like this one. Where I live freedompop is totally unusable other than over wifi which completely negates the point of it, this on the other hand works very well. Plus, if you want to make voice calls this will use normal 2G like other sims whereas freedompop relies on a perfect 3G signal to do anything. Yes, it costs a few pence with this one but given the choice of working perfectly against unlikely to work at all it's not a difficult choice.

Actually my cousin manages to use tethering with this SIM and he doesn't have any problems with it. Sure, it drains his data but the tethering works fine.

In my area, the 2G fallback for Three is now non-existent, so it's 3G or nothing. With more MVNOs using Three, it's rendered my older dual-SIM phones (with only one 3G slot) effectively obsolete.
One extra advantage of FreedomPop is that tethering is explicitly allowed.
