Taking the details from Sky's site, seems to be for new and existing customers.
For the first time in history the opening tee shot of The Open will be aired on television in the UK, and NOW TV is making sure everyone can grab a piece of the action with a free Sky Sports Day Pass to kick off the Championship in style.
On Thursday 14th July, the first day of The 145th Open at Royal Troon, NOW TV is offering 24 hours free access to the new ‘Sky Sports The Open’ channel dedicated to the event, plus the other 6 Sky Sports channels available with a Sky Sports Pass.
Claiming the free Sky Sports Day Pass from NOW TV is easy; simply head to nowtv.com/freepass from 00.01 on Thursday 14th July to claim your pass, then putt your feet up, make yourself a cup of tee, and enjoy the first full day of golfing action of The Open.
Usually when NOWTV offer a free day pass you can add the voucher on your account and activate at a later date so even if you don't want to use it on Thursday it may work for future use

Use the code 'BRITOPEN16' to get your free day pass. (Go to 'apply a voucher' from buying a day pass).
You are able to save it for later so you don't necessarily have to use it to watch the Open.

So if I can get a flexible free day pass on Sky Sports...Bob's my father's brother!

Can't stand it when people post this type of deal.. every day of the Open was free for years until Sky bought it out and stopped most people who enjoyed it from watching. Same goes for many other sporting events (F1, Australian Open etc). Tempted to make another account just to vote cold twice because having to pay to watch 3/4 days when you could watch every day live for free last year isn't a deal in any sense of the word

So what are you going to do, get a time machine to get back to last year to watch it for free??
Whether you like it or not, now one needs to pay to watch it and to criticise who posted a deal that allows you to watch at least one day for free is a bit silly.

You do realise the BBC had the rights to this year and decided themselves to give The Open up a year early?
Sky are already doing a far better job with their coverage. The price of a couple of pints will let you watch all four days oh Now TV or get a monthly pass which works out at just a pound a day.

BIRTOPEN16 worked for me. You can only hold one pass per account. So I've got a debit card, a credit card and a joint account card all linked to 3 different email addresses with NOWTV. 3 free day passes to save when the football season starts (and I get a weekend off!)

Go via topcashback to earn £1.50 and it automatically applies the discount code for you.

I tried this on my account and the wife's too but at no point did any code auto apply. I had to key it in which probably means they'll void my cashback :disappointed:

Went through TCB and promo code was already applied. After 10 minutes trying to find a username that wasn't already in use, managed to the free pass.
