Studio co-founder Chris Aston made the announcement, revealing that the newly resurrected monster shooter will go into beta on July 7 (or July 8 in the southern hemisphere), allowing time to iron out bugs "over a period of weeks and months". Those who already own Evolve will get "Founder status" in the free-to-play version, with all owned content still accessible, and the promise of "gifts, rewards and special access" in the future.
I was often tempted by the offers , but hey , glad I waited now , Evolve had some great reviews , but the over priced DLC killed the community spirit, people just lost interest , hopefully this will revive the game and the free to play model will breath new life into the Evolve gaming community .
Reasonable sized download of just short of 20gb , just goto your steam account , type in "Evolve" and the game will show as free , click to add to your cart and the purchase , the download will then begin :-)
There is also speculation that Evolve may go free to play on Xbox one and PS4.

The game looks good , but just like Battleborn , once the bad vibes start , the community levels crash , sometimes very unfairly , but I think in Evolves case , the DLC costs for characters etc , where just ridiculous , they shot themselves in the foot , but I will definitely be giving this a go , looking forward to it :smiley:

To be fair, I only played the beta. Nice idea for a game but it got boring really fast. Found it like a massive game of hide and seek before the monster gets too strong.

It's okay that you bought it so cheap you are able to get the founders pack for free (you get it automatically) gives you more characters, monsters and perks for free, plus a little bit more silver keys.

It happens , I am very cautious about my purchases these days , I have a ps4 and a PC , if the game runs at 60fps on PS4 then I generally buy it on PS4 , then I can resell the game once I have finished with it......but as we know , once you use a key on a PC title , that is pretty much it , you cannot resell the key....I recently bought Battleborn on ps4 for 14.99 , really liked it , but it was only 30 FPS , so I resold it on fleabay , nearly got my money back and bought it on PC for just over £12 , Well worth the purchase price , but I would not of been happy to of paid the full retail price that is for sure....

Exactly what I do. There have been many games I have purchased on release and either a) finished, enjoyed but will never play again or b) couldn't get into and have sold the game soon after purchase. You can normally buy a game on release for around £35-£40 and sell it within two weeks for around £30 in CEX, more if you don't mind store credit in CEX or Game (after CEX price match). Any game I really enjoyed I like to have on PC anyway, no last gen / current gen / backwards compatibility nonsense - I buy it, I can play it today or 10 years from now without digging around for the right hardware
Any player who previously owned Evolve on Steam and bought any DLC content such as skins or characters will have all paid content carry over into Evolve Stage 2. Not only do you get all your old content, Founders will get exclusive badges, skins and other cosmetic items as we continue to update Evolve Stage 2 in the weeks to come.
What do Founders get on Launch Day?
All content currently available for Founders is detailed below:
3,000 Silver Keys, all past and future Adaptations for previously owned Hunters and Monsters, dozens of Weapon Skins, and four unique, animated Founder badges.
If you owned any Hunters, Monsters, or Skins previously, those will be carried over to Evolve Stage 2.

As a further show of our appreciation to our Founders, we’ll continue to add new Founder exclusive cosmetic items and Adaptations that our Founders will get as soon as they launch.

I had a look yesterday at the player numbers online "in game" on steam it was like 160 people, today it's jumped to over 10,000, I guess it will get even higher, then taper off after a few weeks to the low thousands.

exactly! I would be bit gutted if I paid for it. I do think it would appeal to some out there such as overwatch type players. Just becomes very monotonous very quickly which us why it doesn't surprise me that it went f2p

Aye, true, I must admit I do like Overwatch, Battleborn, battlefield etc, so I kind of like playing the same maps.
Based on a little bit of reading up on Evolve, it appears they have stripped out a lot of maps and put the game back into beta, with new maps to follow, I dare say, cash might become involved fairly early on.

Well that is the speculation at the moment , so maybe yes ! but I imagine it might be a PSN monthly freebie first , then say 3 months later fully F2P

They've officially stated that if the PC version goes over smoothly, they'll be focusing on consoles. IF.
