Free System Shock 2 from GOG.com. On the proviso that you download it through their Galaxy client (to help them stress-test), get this classic game absolutely free.
Utterly terrifying. The noise of a chimpanzee still brings me out in a cold sweat.

I'm assuming the 'System Shock' naming convention wasn't totally in vein then ..... lol. :-)

Claimed, thanks OP. Bought it about a year ago on steam, wonder if I'll ever get around to playing it.
Not sure about this bit "On the proviso that you download it through their Galaxy client", I seem to have the option to download without the client. Though I'd use the client anyway as I like it.

I'm pretty sure that that proviso was stipulated there to maintain its freeness, and only to maintain its freeness!.
Other than that there's then a cost involved (if its derived via a different source, etc?).
That's my understanding of it anyway. :-)

You download the Gog Galaxy client then visit the store in the client and claim the free game. The game is then added to your library and you can uninstall the client if you want. The game is yours to keep.

Find it in the client store and click the "learn more" above the £9.99 price. Can claim it there.

Sigh - I've got 4 game clients on my pc now and every time I start one up, it downloads around 100Mbytes of unspecified code (otherwise known as an update) and runs it
Good game though, esp for free

Who's played this yet? (since downloading it I mean, lol).
What are your thoughts?, thanx.

I can't find "learn more". If I click on the price that's £1.09 I don't see anywhere to claim it...

The free redemption was available for two days, so I'm afraid that you're too late now.
