From June 21 to June 28, you can get Battlefield 4 Second Assault for free, featuring four of the most fan-favorite maps from Battlefield 3. Don't wait too long, though, because you only have until June 28 to snag these throwback maps.
I've added PlayStation 3 to your title and removed XB1 as it's been posted in deals and isn't really FREE as it requires an active Xbox Live Gold subscription.

Don't forget there's all the community operations, night operations, and legacy operations free too (at least on the PC, I don't know about the consoles). Although these too have the problem that there are hardly any servers running them.

I haven't finished downloading this DLC, but I found with the other ones that there would be some servers running the DLC for a day or two and then nothing.
