Bad luck. Where can I find such a child?

You have paid to travel, seats are not guaranteed in the price unless you have a reservation and I'd hope if the train was full and you didn't actually have a baby that needed the space, you would put stuff on the overheads racks..

You forgot the Kids running up and down the carriage banging into everyone sitting in an aisle seat...... and parents watching indulgently as their kids use the carriage as a private playground.... clambering over seats with filthy footwear and sticky fingers.

Thanks for posting OP  I've checked the T&C's (as I took out a similar offer a couple of years ago) and it states that every 2 month trial card sent out will also receive a unique code for £10 off the purchase of a 1 year F&F's railcard. It's only valid if you purchase it between 11th July - 11th August 2016 but it means you can buy a 1 year Railcard for £20 instead of the usual £30 which, as far as I'm aware is the cheapest way of buying one if you need it. HOT from me btw

WHAT!! Travel by train? I've regularly experienced ALL these: Stand up for the god-knows-how-many miles journey due to no seats? Ear-battered by smartphone music/chatter-as-if-there-was-no-electronics-between-the-callers? Kids screaming and whining? Person next door to you snoring/smelling/picking/spitting? Arrive late to find missed connection? And that's only travelling 1st Class! No thanks - I'd rather go by bus/coach/walk/not bother. No wonder they have to make them free!

lol just say the child is at the bathroom lol or find out if they let you buy a return but just have a child for one single part of journey - e.g. if child lived elsewhere and you were travelling to collect or drop them off in case of family, other parent or grandparents?

I've tried several different random codes on the site and confirm that the form is not code checking.
So lets home that National Rail/The Sun are not doing any further processing when then send out the tickets, otherwise would be interesting to see what they make of 20k applications using this one code!
Ajibee
10 May 162#44
You need to be able to show the Railcard with the ticket, so no. HTH.
jamieb193
10 May 162#43
I believe you need the railcard for both trips as the ticket will say you've used a railcard. The inspector will then ask to see the railcard and probably make you pay again on the return journey

you can! just buy the baby a ticket. i often did this. it meant i could put my stuff on a seat and no-one could move me as i had paid for 2 seats x

You are able to use the card with a baby as long as you buy them a ticket. I do it regularly now and have never had a issue. I found out it was allowed from the lady in our ticket office x

Copied from railcard t&c's-
If the only child in the Family & Friends Railcard group is aged under five years, the Railcard holder must purchase a discounted ticket for that child in order for the Railcard holder(s) to qualify for the discount on their tickets.
Terms and Conditions are valid up to and including 15 May 2016.

Still works out cheaper if you buy a child ticket and don't take a child. Never done it, but I can't imagine someone is going to kick you off if the child isn't present.
