The Airshow is the best idea Bournemouth Council have ever had and believe me theve made a few bad ones over the years. It really is a spectacular event and as a resident I recommend anyone to come down and experience it

With all the new restrictions, the coastal airshows are going to be the best ones in the future.
Bournemouth is a great airshow, if the sun is out then the beach gets VERY crowded. Looking south, so good sunglasses are essential.

2016 – LATEST NEWS
*STOP PRESS* Swiss Air Force have confirmed they will be participating at this year’s Air Festival with the Super Puma Display Team! It’s an incredible first for the festival and we’re absolutely thrilled to be welcoming the team to Bournemouth this summer. They are only displaying at Fairford and Bournemouth this year, it’s great to have confirmation and allocation so early in the planning stages and can’t wait to see them in the skies!
Unfortunately the F-18 can no longer display and has had to pull out of their Bournemouth performances.

Now i thought they would of built a few student flats there with no parking spaces :sunglasses:

But instead they leave a big open space for whatever, I think it should have been an indoor swimming pool so when we have a typical summer visitors and residents can still enjoy a swim and next to the sea too

The Air Festival is just wonderful. I love the live commentary. Especially when you hear the lead pilots of the Red Arrows giving instx or even surviving a loop the loop !!!

Do you just turn up for the free tickets - don't see any option to get free tickets on the website, just the hospitality ones.

It's great for those living there but trying to get in to Bournemouth when the airshow is on you might as well leave the day before to start queueing!

Yeah I know but puts me off going to the airshow sitting in traffic for hours, I dread to think what parking is like once actually in Bournemouth. I'd like to go this year with my children so will try using the train.

I've been three times with the family now. It's not like this at all. You drive to a park and ride - all are an easy drive just out of town. Admittedly I've always tried to arrive early. You then get the bus in to the sea front. The buses are put on specifically for the event, are frequent and are buggy friendly. The buses are the only vehicles allowed near the see front, so are actually the easiest way in too. Basically, they couldn't do a better job of getting you quickly to and from the event. Its worked well each time we've attended.

What time do you usually get there to avoid the traffic? Hadn't thought about park and ride, are the queues large for the buses on the way back from the show?

When I've gone we would park in Boscombe and walk up the beach, or you can take the little train in. Loads of stalls along the way including the really good Armed Forces bits. Kids love it.
Its busy but not uncomfortably so, beaches may be crowded but if walk a bit further along the beach - almost leaving Bournemouth - you get less busy beaches and you still see all the Air show,
