It's an EEA programme. It doesn't just cover the EU. Several countries that are not in the EU are covered by the EHIC scheme.

As opposed to the fake one? Heat anyway for reminding people about it.
Follow the link in the post above (beware of con sites offering a express checking service for a charge (you wont get your card any faster (it will probably delay you getting the card for a couple more days) and you will be paying a charge needlessly))
