Doom looks like absolute trash.
Basic arena twitch shooters might have been great back when we were networking PC' together with coaxial cables and running dual voodoo cards with 32MB of VRAM, but from what I've seen of the new Doom gameplay, it looks like a bit of shiny paint slapped on old school mechanics and core gameplay from the olden days.
I'd play Rainbow 6 over it any day. R6S is an amazing competitive game that forces close team work.
Unlike Doom which is pretty much "Spacebar, Left Click, spacebar, left click. rinse and repeat.

I couldn't care about Doom 3, but this is a good trial as I've been on the fence about this game since it came out

thanks op! been looking to try this! i asked on another post about matching and if you get beginners thrashed by experienced and I think ranked gaming is matched but you have to complete the training missions first? also what is the difference with season pass and gold etc?

You want be able to play Ranked until you get to rank 20, which takes sometime to do. Even in Casual, it should try to even up the teams but its never gonna be perfect, but thats just the way online gaming works. I'd recommend spending a little time doing the Training Missions (also watch the videos) purely because you get loads of renown points that allows you to buy a few operators.

There is a massive, massive hacking problem in this game on PC right now. This free weekend opened the doors to so many hackers, it's unreal.
Can't play a single game without hackers.
Good luck to you all, I've quit playing after 150 hours. Great game but the hacking is ridiculous and ruins the game.

I haven't encountered any hackers on the console version (I'm ~120 rank), maybe try that instead? I know it's not the same as K&M, but it's still a load of fun.

just played the first 1p mission. was quite good. no tutorial on controls like how to get your drone(s) back which made it a bit harder but at least you can live and learn in safety before going slaughtered by humans!
