Game Oldies, offers ready to play emulation that works in a flash enabled web browser. There's no dodgy plugins to download. Takes seconds to warp into nostalgia.

Bonus : Option to play in full screen, saving/loading checkpoints and usb gamepad support! (I successfully played with a Xbox one gamepad).

Tested with the latest version of Chrome and Internet explorer with Java disabled, in Windows 10. Both browsers launched games fine. I have Eset Smart Security, Malwarebytes and anti exploit installed, this website failed to set off any triggers. Seems safe enough to use.

Had a quick go of Doom (32x) and Resident Evil (Ps1). Both played well, although Psone emulation audio was far from perfect and slightly choppy.

Also Psone games may run a little slow if your device/computer isn't powerful enough, toggling to full screen may help with stuttering. Other console emulators aren't nearly as demanding.

Folks. At least as far as the Internet Archive is concerned, it's not piracy, it's an archival service. I've talked to them and they are a legitimate enterprise.

It's not piracy, it's preservation.

It's hardly like they are hosting PS4 and Xbox One games after all.

The games on there are all past commercial viability but are fascinating and still great fun for people who care about retro gaming...

Might be a loophole in the law the same way streaming copyrighted content seems to be? As long as no copy is being made.

I tried a PS game and the sound was iffy, I've got a decent rig too. Thanks for telling us about it.

I'm glad it was posted, great for those who didn't get to sample these classics first time round the chance to now.

If it wasn't for those wonderful people who develop emulators and convert the old games to roms, often for no profit either, many wonderful classic titles would be lost as the hardware and games gradually fail and are lost or (foolishly) thrown away. Emulation is a wonderful thing and in this instance the law is an utter ass, what possible harm does playing some old games in your browser do?, not like any of these titles are commercially active any more....

the PS1 games do take longer, had to be very patient for Crash Bandicoot to load up, eventually did.

Heated, great freebie and the emulation looks very good indeed for browser based emulation, though for more than casual play I'd always go with a dedicated emulator or even better the actual hardware, if you really want to get into retro gaming in a serious way.

I think the big grey border would annoy me after a while though, does it have a proper full screen mode or is it always bordered?

Op did state that it supports save/load and presumably that'll be saved locally so provided it doesn't get corrupted you should be golden.
