Thought this might help people with holiday planning as airport car parks can be so expensive!! My bil uses Birmingham Airport quite a bit & my sister-in laws fed up with paying to park in order to drop him off or pick him up so recently she's been dropping him at Birmingham International Railway Station & he's caught the train from there for free & vice versa. (there is 15 min Free parking in car park 5 at Birmingham airport, but it's a 10 mins walk or a free shuttle bus ride that runs every 10 mins, so she's often been caught out esp when picking him up)
Anyway, this set me off thinking & found that a few airports inc Heathrow & Gatwick offer 1-2 hrs free parking for dropping off / picking up passengers. Will pop links / info in 1st post.

This is great, thanks.
Re Manchester, we didn't get free parking but used to use the drop off zone for pick ups as well, so you can't wait for more than about 5/10 mins, but it is free. If it's not a grand reunion type thing, it worked well for us.
They may have started charging though.

For Manchester use the train station. Free pick up and drop off. Could be a bit of a walk though depending on terminal.

Excellent. Fed up with paying £3 (or more) for 1 minute to pick someone up.
