For years, specsavers told me to keep wearing glasses, get contact lenses, come in once a year for appointments, until I turn 18 when (if my eyesight didn't make large jumps) I could get laser eye surgery. They persisted against getting laser eye surgery once I turned 18 (and for a few years after) as my eyes were not in a good enough condition, and to just continue on contact lenses and glasses.

Then a new older optometrist in Specsavers did my eye test one year, and was amazed at why I hadn't considered laser eye surgery yet after looking at my history and current status. I told him I was advised against it by Specsavers staff and he said nonsense. Had 2 more third party opinions from an optometrist and ophthalmologist and they both agreed it could have been done before.

Haven't trusted them since, and am so glad i've undertaken laser eye surgery. Be wary of false positives!

I'm not surprised. I wouldn't trust a supermarket to properly test my eyes either!

The downside about Specsavers, is the "glass" they use in their glasses is cheap sh1t or it's ground by FWs.
Or maybe it's a industry standard.

Nothing new. I frequently find free eye test vouncher in local parish magazines and also on back of the car parking tickets, have never paid for tests and don't expect to because they keep finding ways to flog free test vouchers here and there.

You don't need a voucher! Most people know it's free in Tescos anyway, they advertise everywhere!

Late with this but instore near the door, ours has a stand, with their magazine on. There is usually a coupon on there to get a free eye test :-) worth a check

I went to Tesco's optician and they over-prescribed telling me I needed new glasses.. I started getting headaches, went back to previous specs and had no more problems.
