From wikipedia :
On 5 June 2014, the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) ruled that streaming illegal content online is legal in Europe. The Boy Genius Report weblog noted that "As long as an Internet user is streaming copyrighted content online ... it’s legal for the user, who isn’t willfully [sic] making a copy of said content. If the user only views it directly through a web browser, streaming it from a website that hosts it, he or she is apparently doing nothing wrong."
Looks like that settles it. Show Box is not illegal.

That was a ruling from a top court in the EU. And there are reliable sources to that ruling in the wikipedia article. You would have known this if you had googled and read the article. Maybe the lack of rigour is yours.

How old are you?
Using Wikipedia as a "source" shows a complete lack of rigour.

just go direct to archive.org for them, the site linked in the "deal" seems to be little more than a revenue generator via adverts

EU law isn't necessarily UK law.

Showbox is free, I can't imagine Showbox has paid the copyright owners money to allow them to stream the content for free which means they wouldn't have the right to stream copyrighted material without the copyright owners permission, blah blah blah. This applies to all apps/websites offering free movies etc.
