At this point I think that we can all agree that Google is just as excited, if not more so, than the rest of us for Star Wars: The Force Awakens to come out this week. To add to their already impressive arsenal of Dark Side and Light Side themed backdrops in Inbox, Mail, Maps and Chromecast (not to mention the lightsaber sounds in YouTube), Google Experiments has launched a new web-based game, Lightsaber Escape.
It’s a fairly simple on-rails “shooter” where you wave your lightsaber to deflect incoming blaster fire from First Order Stormtroopers. Take out the whole squad, move on to the next, repeat. The graphics are nicely done (as you’d expect from a Lucasfilm and ILM collaboration); but what’s really innovative about Lightsaber Escape is that your lightsaber isn’t controlled by your mouse or trackpad; but by a companion web page on your phone!

Well I'm useless and generally just wave it around to deflect, but good fun for a bit, nice idea and works well.
