Quite Remarkable New Version Of H G Wells - War Of The Worlds Features Richard Burton - Hope You Like It.

About a decade ago Ollie Teeba and DJ Food embarked upon a session to re-soundtrack The War of the Worlds using Richard Burton’s excellent narrative for Jeff Wayne‘s version as the glue. That session was never finished and the audio languished for years until Ollie rebooted it and recorded a 45 minute version a few years back, presenting unique CDRs to friends and family one Xmas.
It was good but it was dense and the spoken word sometimes relentless, so I suggested he spread things out, play more of the underlying music and extend it to an hour for the show. And he has, on the eve of the 75th anniversary of the radio play first being broadcast across America and sparking a panic that the world was being invaded.
Ollie has re-styled the piece with large helpings of 70’s soundtrack work and psyche rock, digging into his favourite genres outside of Hip Hop. Well known pieces by Axelrod and Schifrin take on a new light when coupled with Burton’s story-telling and many seem tailor made for this presentation. Re-scores of famous books are pretty unique and I think this is the first time we’ve featured anything like this on Solid Steel.

Thing is, G, if you look at the cold votes stacked up against many of my posted deals you'll see the deal description mentioned iOS, iTunes, Mac, in fact anything Apple related. I think (from memory) that my posts that don't mention anything Apple usually get more hot than cold votes. My suspicion is that there is an immature bias in the way many HUKDealers vote. I wouldn't take the incineration of any of my deals personally. All opinions on this site are just that; opinions.

Ugh, please don't mention Jeff Wayne and his horrible interpretation of WotW ibbywibblewibble. I can't quite imagine H.G. humming such nauseating tunes whilst penning the book.

You are far too sensitive. I asked a rhetorical question and gave an opinion. I did not make any insulting comments about you. That I feel Wells' work is debased by what the people on SoundCloud posted is predicated on the fact I read all his works and essays as a boy and did not think adding bits and pieces of additional people's work as a sound accompaniment added anything to the original story. There's tension enough in the prose without the need for pasted-in Nelson Riddle and Bernard Herrmann strings.

Is the site called "SoundCloud" because it has Copy>Cut>Paste files uploaded by herbally deluded individuals who dream they are musicians but do not have the foggiest idea as to which are the starting and finishing points of a musical triangle?
Poor Mr. H.G. Wells would have fallen into a state of apoplexy had he have been alive today to listen to that particular bastardisation of his most excellent work.

That is what is so great about music ,what one person does not like , another may enjoy. stick to saying "i don't like this music" instead of trying top speak for everyone.
