Not sure if this is invite only but EE sent the offer to both of my sims, so might be worth a try.
EE are offering £5 free credit to use within 7 days by replying 'YES' to 1231 (for the EE branded sim) or 1230 (for the t-mobile branded sim) before the 16th October.
No other info on the text they sent so hopefully not signing up for any spam etc by using the freebie. Hope this helps someone.

I got a similar message a few hours ago, today. No mention of EE or Orange in the message, just a four digit number named as the sender ("from 1224") so I deleted it just in case it was a scam.

I received the same message from Orange - but I swopped from Orange to BT 2 months ago... so I can only presume this is spam. Although, granted, BT use EE for their mobile network.

sorry I'm not too sure about that...but even when you text BA to 150 it doesn't come under balance but bonus credit instead

for those who did get the free £5 credit and are unsure what to spend it on you can get a 500mb add on for one month by texting 500mb to 150 hope that's helpful

I thought you could'nt use it till Sat/Sun. I was under the assumption (possibly incorrect) that what ever calls/text/data you use before then will come out your initial credit. I guess best way to find out would be to get the free £5 on an empty sim and test it. Just be careful not to use your own balance.
Can you confirm you have done this yourself using only the free credit and not your own credit by mistake?
Thanks

I've used this method on two of my sims and both times there wasn't any credit except the bonus credit and it's worked fine. you won't however be able to do it through a call to 150 or through the EE app but if you text to 150 it should work

Why would you get free credit if they didnt send you an invite text ?!
I have 3 sims that received the invite and all 3 now have the free minutes.
I had one that did not get an invite but texted for the offer anyway - and that sim was delined !

I got the same text from Orange, only the reply "YES" is to 1224. I got a reply saying thanks, and that they'de be in touch within 10 days when credit is ready to use.
It seems you can use it for calls/texts on Sat 24th & Sun 25th. I assume anything outside this will use your credit.
