Do they definitely have stock available for launch? Has anyone checked with them? Very easy to advertise the bundle and deliver the games now and then say they don't have stock of the console at launch and its too late to return the games by then...

I'm sure CEX will at least be buying them for £450. They usually do pay over the odds first few weeks.

I got £300 for Switch a week or so after launch.
Same as they paid £110 for the SNES mini.

Im tempted to buy it and get Forza free.

I'm going to stick with my Scorpio pre order and also order this, keep the games and sell the non-scorpio console still sealed.

I'll no doubt take a few quid hit on the resale but considering I was going to order Forza for release i'll still be a huge saving with all of those games.

I'm soooo close to this... I've got QB, but the other two add a lot of value. But I'm a sucker for a day1...!
Still hoping MS spring a surprise and throw in F7 as a freebie... It *would* make sense given I got F5 with my day 1 Xbox1...

One thing that gives the 'overclocked ps4' statement some heft is the fact they didn't even add any RAM... How are they meant to handle 4k assets and such like in the same amount of RAM? That's *got* to be hurting devs with the other parity/superiority restrictions around Pro versions?
At least MS saw this and threw 50% more memory at it...!

Great price for this bundle, even more impressive when you factor in the Xbox1X has an Ultra HD Blu-ray player built in and will be backward compatible to a point with All previously released Xbox consoles,.

I can't answer that for you but from my angle I own two of these games already and their sell on/trade in value ain't worth two bob and more to the point I am in to my collector's/special edition things so I want that Scorpio thing going on in my AV unit.

Yes I know Xbox one x is a great achievement it’s the best console ever made but saying the PS4 pro is just an overclocked PS4 is silly. Some games are still checkerboarding on Xbox one x not native and tomb raider does have a native mode buts it’s @ 20fps at the moment so it isn’t as easy as pie it seems. Xbox one x will be better for multi platform games now surely.

Will keep pre-order with Amazon for now, just because it's currys  but let's be honest it might commend a £50-£100 premium at launch and for maybe 3-5 months after that if you decide to sell it, but after that you'll just be £50 down over a bundle like this.

I haven't had an Xbox One yet, but had the Scorpio on order with Amazon.

It would have been nice to go Scorpio, and it would have been nice to get codes (for Play Anywhere) for these games, but...

Thanks OP!

I already have Quantum Break & Halo 5, and the trade-in value for these games will be peanuts.

I’m not intro driving games, so Forza would only be sold on.

Im going to keep my Scorpion Edition pre-order because it’s with John Lewis, which comes with a free 2 year guarantee. Also, for just £10 I got a 2 year accidental damage cover.

Also, Curry's customer service is pretty ****.

To be honest, I don’t know if I like the look of the Project Scorpio artwork on the console. I’m hoping it looks better in person.

And if anyone pairs a 1070 with a G4560 and only 8GB or RAM, they need a serious rethink, that's going to cause some bottleneck issues, and you are not going to get the best performance out of your graphics card in most modern AAA games you need a i5 to get the best performance out of the card.

Yeap, F7, SWBF2, Destiny 2, SOW, Assasin creeed......games i am quite happy to only touch when they are on sale, and then possibly not even then, or even better grab them second hand and give no money at all to these devs and publishers, as i won't ever support something else on top of season passes, dlc, microtransactions, mini dlc, dlc sold outside and after season passes, and now loot boxes.

Microsoft are going to have a real balancing act here to try and tout how superior the X is over the PS4 etc. while trying to not alienate existing Xbox One owners given the gulf between performance. I'm assuming they're not expecting the majority to upgrade.

Will be fascinating to see how the sales play out. Here's to an interesting Christmas!

We have only seen Forza 7 as a game built from the ground up to target Xbox One X render path. The rest are games that already exist and are being patched to support 4k. You're never going to get the performance required when you're jerry rigging a game to a render path it was never developed with in the first place. Games like Quantum Break are tied to 30fps because of their physics rendering pipeline, without redeveloping that you're stuck. We should all wait and see what new games built from the ground up to support Xbox One X achieves before passing judgement. The only one so far is Forza 7 and it hits 60fps 4k native with room to spare which is a good sign and promising start.

Great post mate, so many media outlets and people generally online have been pushing the message that the One X is only worth it if you own a 4K TV, that is far from the truth, yes you will get the best visual experience if you own a 4K TV with HDR and when VRR comes out that as well, but you will still benefit if you still own a 1080p screen, you still get all the benefits the console will provide, better graphics, Super Sampling, more stable frame-rates, faster loading times, and with games that support it the option to play at 60fps in games that were 30fps on the Base One.

I'm with you, the One X (not scorpio regrettably) next month and then next year once HDR and VRR TV's are out i'll look into buying a 4K TV.

Assassin's Creed more demanding :joy: More like badly optimised like all the previous AC games. As for GPU they added some more compute units but the underlying architecture is the same as the PS4. "While the number of logical processor cores (8) remained the same, CPU clock speed was increased from 1.6 GHz to 2.13 GHz (33.1% improvement in CPU core clockrate), but with the underlying architecture unchanged. The number of graphics Compute Units on the APU was doubled to 36 Graphics Core Next (GCN) Compute Units (from 18), with a clock speed increase to 911 MHz (from 800 MHz)" The Pro isn't a leap forward like the Xbox One X is. It was a speed bump and a complete miss-step by Sony (I own all the consoles just before you dismiss me as some fanboy or whatever), which shows in Sony's lack of comment on the sales of the PS4 Pro. They should've waited a bit and responded to what Microsoft had cooking rather than the half baked PS4 Pro which has disappointing performance at 4k across the board. Sony will have to work hard to achieve something that beats the Xbox One X even just on paper considering the optimisations that Microsoft have achieved such as the hardware implementation of Direct X, custom voltage tuning for maximum performance per unit. So even if Sony were to just grab another Jaguar APU increase the CUs and overclock it further and add even more memory there are limits to what that particular silicon can do and they would be able to get comparable performance at best, for considerably more money (as they would waste silicon to the bins to achieve such a high performance part). I doubt we will see a PS5 anytime soon (and it will have to be a PS5 as it will likely be built on Zen architecture as opposed to Jaguar) as Zen APU/Raven Ridge won't be in price range for Sony for another year at least (unless they do another PS3 and come in with a ludicrous price point and then spend the next 2-3 years clawing back that customer goodwill). Anybody who can't see what a technical achievement the Xbox One X is either deluded or blind.

10 Oct 17 #102
No, not confused with ps4pro . The important thing which you have said and I completely agree with is "when the game has been built to take advantage of the system". This is the same of any console really. Turn 10 have done some amazing work with forza which I applaud. Don't get me wrong this system is powerful, but not as powerful as Microsoft or some fans would claim. We are already seeing games failing to hit 4k on it or hitting 4k without 30fps. You shouldn't be allowed to release a game under 30fps. Time will tell I suppose. But I believe not every game will hit native 4k or they will but with sacrifice. Of course there will always be exceptions to this like turn 10. Hopefully given times more debs can follow suit.

Disclaimer: fortunate to have had all the consoles since the snes days (hopefully getting a switch in next 6 months) and had a gaming PC since 2013 which I have recently upgraded. I think they all have pros and cons and love gaming full stop.Microsoft broken promises hurt every console gen though and don't want to see people get stung again thinking they are getting something which they aren't.

A good site here that provides details the Xbox One X Enhanced versions resolution & fps! windowscentral.com/all…mes

some examples of great titles that will place better -
Gears 4 4k 60fps
Doom 4k 60fps
Halo 5 4k 60fp
Middle-earth: Shadow of War 4K, 60 FPS & HDR
Resident Evil 7: Biohazard (4K, HDR, 60 FPS)

I have a PC with GTX 970; i5 2500k; 16gb DDR3 RAm & get well below 30fps at 4K with GEARS 4 so Feel this is a great option for me to replace the Older Xbox One that currently struggles to do 1080p + 60fps on a lot of games

1070 mini goes for £350, but min you'll need in other parts is £200-£250 (e.g Pentium G4560, 8GB ram, 256GB SSD, basic H270 motherboard, cheapest case&psu) so the one x is still a good value
robodan918
10 Oct 17 #99
Even so, it's a 'pick up and play' device, and obviously the most powerful console

I'll stick with my 1080ti (again, obviously) but if I hadn't built a gaming pc I'd be all over this

Watch them by sold out for Christmas
Ashe
10 Oct 17 #98
Speaking as a PC owner/builder, even if this has only two thirds of the power of a GTX 1070 it's still excellent value for a 4K machine.

That's when you bear in mind the cost of graphics cards, which are so much nowadays.

Hot!

Never really understood the desire for Day One editions... a couple of years down the line, if you want to trade it in, it just identifies it as the oldest one, doesn't it? It's not like you're getting any performance tweaks. Think I'll bide my time with BF1 on my XB1 until after Christmas and see what happens...

Quantum break is a brilliant game, one of Xbox’s most underrated titles I’ve ordered the Scorpio edition this is tempting as could easily recoup £50 from the games
Justsuperman
10 Oct 17 #94
Wrong. The PS4 pro isn’t just overclocked. So you’re saying 1.8TF vs 4.2 TF gpu is the same gpu just overclocked? :joy: and I myself am buying a Xbox one x but you’re comparing forza 7 which runs at 1080p @ 60fps on shitty Xbox one original hardware.. which is very underpowered so it isn’t impressive that Xbox one x runs the same game at 4K when normal Xbox could do it with ease and that hardware is trash.. compare more demanding games AC crees origins, crackdown 3 and many other titles.

Am i missing something here with Microsoft, or have they shot themselves in the foot. Every game they release is available for PC also. A GTX 1060 6gb beats this as does any half decent processor. I'm not having a go at the xbox but with PC you get free sky go, BT sports, don't need to pay for the app each month. PC equivalent games are 90% of the time much cheaper and you can still use the controllers.

People will say yeah but PC costs more. That's true but they are releasing new consoles every few years now meaning you need two in the space of time that the equivalent PC lasts. Also you can upgrade parts of the PC as you go along.

one thing is a console looks much better than those hideous gaming PCs some have.

CABellamy
10 Oct 17 #91
Think you're getting this confused with the PS4 Pro, which is just an overclocked PS4. The Xbox One X has been proven very capable of a native 4K output when the game has been built to take advantage of the system. Take a look at Forza Motorsport 7, native 4k and 60fps output with apparently 25% headroom to spare. I'm pretty sure that you will struggle to find a PC that is capable of hitting that render target in this form factor for this amount of money.

£30 a year vs $12 a month + £3.99 a month (ignoring the fact that EA Access is available for consoles too) for old games that you probably wouldn't have bought anyway.
RTfunk
10 Oct 17 #77
GPU is more like a 970, 1060 if being generous but paired with with an equivalent processor would be like using an i3 which is a huge bottleneck. Really can't compare specs to a pc though due to the closed architecture which is why they will be able to optimise to squeeze out performance. Also mass production drives down price of components.

I think it's a neat console with a alot of bang for buck but people shouldn't be expecting 4k in every game, let alone at 60fps - hardcore gamers want 60fps over res everyday.Really naughty how consoles market their power, the cloud and 4k etc. Same story for years.

I don't understand who this console is for?
commenter14

"Given free" = £30 a year for old games that you probably wouldn't have bought anyway. Also far inferior to the quality and quantity of games provided by Origin Access and the Humble Monthly Bundle.

I do keep getting tempted by the new offers that show up but I just can't bring myself to cancel the Scorpio edition. Especially as I've already started paying it off.

Early adopters always get screwed in one way or another and I honestly didn't think I would see game bundles with the x for at least a few months. Even my day one Xbox one ended up with a free game at fairly short notice. Maybe Microsoft will surprise everyone on release day.

Coolcatcarter88
10 Oct 17 #70
This is about as powerful as a 1060 isn't it? Just with it being a console it will be easier to develop for and optimise so will get better performance. CPU is the main issue when comparing to your average gaming PC I think.

I'd go for this, but I just wish Xbox had some exclusives to make the decision for me. Negotiate with Firaxis for Civilization main games to come to Xbox for instance, now that would have me jumping on it! The aforementioned CPU limiting factor is probably why grand strategy games are rare on consoles though

Does anyone know the total value of GWG games given free every month for 3 years?
Likely over £870? :raised_hand:‌

Thanks for posting.
Just ordered and will cancel my Scorpio pre-order with Amazon.
Can't see any offer better than this coming alone before release except a glitch/Very and can't be bothered with that rubbish.
Good honest price.

Totally pathetic comment if like me and plenty others you haven’t played these plus it’s free trade ins for something you do want!

So you would rather pay the same elsewhere with no games? Also forza is worth £40 on its own

Purchased my S 1TB last month an I'm very happy with it. Its not like I didn't know the Xbox one x wasn't coming out I just don't game that much as I used to do, so I have no need to pay for better tech that I wont be using as much as I would like to.

Did mange to get hands on with Assassin's Creed Origins on the Xbox one x for awhile at Eurogamer expo and yes it did look very nice an I can see what the fuss is about.

If I bought this then I would have to buy a 4K tv as well :worried:

Cold... Halo 5 was released in Oct 15 and Quantum Break in Apr 16. The majority of players have played these games already and finished the campaigns.
A way for currys to get rid of old stock
commenter14
10 Oct 17 #49
A 1070 is VASTLY superior to the graphics card inside this console, so don't make false equivalences.

Also, anyone who buys this I will assume also bought an Xbox One at launch, so it's actually £750 total spend this generation on consoles. Then £30 a year for online play means so far this generation we're at £870. Not to mention more expensive games and accessories, or the fact that anyone who has a console will still need some form of laptop/PC in their home for work/admin taks.

£870 could build you a monster of a PC.
jparnell
10 Oct 17 #48
What's the likelihood of recieving this on release day? Anyone dealt with Currys for pre-orders?
Mega_egg
10 Oct 17 #47
Just phoned them and they are not shipping the console out until lunch day :persevere:
polly69
10 Oct 17 #46
You build a gaming PC with the power of this for £449 good luck with that the gp in this is similar to a nvidia 1070 that alone is nearly the price of this.

1 crap comment
ariprotheroe
10 Oct 17 #45
Assuming they are physical copies of the games. The trade-in value for Halo 5 and QB is only £4 each. Forza 7 is however about £30.

Well thats persuaded everyone not to buy this and go for one elsewhere without any games for the same price :raised_hand:

Could build a decent PC for that price... It must only be 3 years until the next consoles anyway.

Are any of the games optimised one x versions or are they just xbox one games using backwards compatibility?
DavelinaJolie to OrribleHarry
10 Oct 17 #28
One X versions are standard games with a One X patch, i believe all three games are on the one X patch list.
OrribleHarry to DavelinaJolie
10 Oct 17 #29
Ah ok I didn't realise I thought they'd need to be One X retail versions.
Will some of my existing games also get patched?
DavelinaJolie to OrribleHarry
10 Oct 17 #31
xbox.com/en-…ist

That's the list so far, bear in mind patches might not be available for console launch though.
oostvoo to OrribleHarry
10 Oct 17 #34
Over 130 games so far scheduled to get an "Xbox One X Enhanced" patch. Even games that don't get patch though will still see some improvements as the console is designed to "boost" certain things by default on all Xbox One and BC 360 games.

Full list here:

Great thanks for that. Didn't know I'd get enhancements for existing games that's awesome will order now.

10 Oct 17 #21
This deal kind of makes me wish I didn't buy the S the other week. Should have probably waited a year and bought the X.

Such an amazing price for Day One tech, along with a solid games lineup.

In relative news, the Switch is still £300. Pffft...
electrolite77 to prankster101

And the Switch is selling really well. Which seems to really upset you for some reason. Anyway, obsessives aside, hot from me....

Offer ends 13/10/2017.

A great deal especially if you haven't played those games like myself.
Yes I have not played Halo 5 (No split screen co-op put me off as the Wife plays video games  ) and Quantum Break was just not bothered as I have many other games to play through and then there's making time too

Pointless console IMO, graphic comparison to normal Xbox ones is unnoticeable to the average gamer and I'd need a 4k TV also.
Retr0Gen_Gaming to Shayno
10 Oct 17 #18
Obviously you need a 4k tv.
copperspock to Shayno
10 Oct 17 #23
Even if you don't have a 4K TV you'll get better frame-rates, quicker load-times, and better resolutions. Though really this console isn't aimed at the 'average gamer', more the hardcore gamer.

After a quick google search, thrown together some info for those asking about benefits for 1080p tv owners (like me):

Faster load times. The One X HDD is 50% faster than the One S. And the extra 4GB of RAM with the much higher bandwidth, can speed up the loading of assets etc)

Hardware inside the One X provides Anisotropic Filtering (AF) to existing games (makes textures a little clearer).

Albert Penello mentions this in an interview with The KnowExisting XB1 games which have dynamic resolution and / or dynamic frame rate will look best and perform best on a One X (edit: i.e. resolution should stay at its maximum and / or frame rate should stay consistent and smooth)

Super sampling is enabled by default on games which target 4k. This means that a 4k game playing on a 1080p TV, will have a better image quality than a native 1080p game on the same TV.

Further visual benefits would include higher quality textures which can be seen further into the distance, longer draw distances for the geometry, and extra effects. This is dependent on what the developer does with their game

Vsync will also be standard on One X eliminating screen tearing.

The XB1X games will also have more effects turned on, better draw distances, better lighting effects, etc. That will also look better on a 1080p TV.

This is a link to the question I typed into google's search box:

google.com/sea…616

Scorpio edition for me on the 7th, 4k tv at some point next year, or black Friday this year depending on what you lot come up with on here

Heated!

If you don't already have Halo 5 and QB, then this is a great deal. If you were buying this with the view to selling off Halo and QB, then you'll only get pennies for them.

That said, getting Forza 7 for free isn't bad either

I'm tempted to cancel my Scorpio preorder. They were supposed to be for the real fans but you get screwed with nothing but a stand

Is there any advantage to one of these if you don't have a 4K telly ?

Very good deal but to be honest I got QB and Halo 5 already plus their sell on value is pants, I'd be very happy to get Forza 7 thrown in but I'm even happier with the £396 I paid for my Scorpio pre-order so I'm sticking with what I've got.

I ordered Scorpio form Argos and they said I will get it on 17 November. Is it worth keeping the order or getting this?
Waynej
10 Oct 17 #13
Good deal. I always thought the Scorpio Edition would include a game, much like the Day One Edition for Xbox One including Forza.

Ok, so it's not the Scorpio edition, but 3 free games is pretty good going. And they're all X Enhanced for the new console too.

I'll reluctantly stick with my Scorpio pre-order. Currys, you can keep your free games - the free plastic stand with the Scorpio is better! ;-(
