The Q4 2017 deals have come out and this looks like a particular steal.

It has the same deposit/admin fee as the deal posted below - but monthlies are now £24.53 cheaper (or £564.19 cheaper over the term).

If you do lower mileage, monthlies are cheaper again for the 8,000 miles p/a option (£124.32 instead of £130.82pm)

Great deal but the picture shows the older pre-facelift Octavia. The new shape that this lease will be looks a bit awkward at the front with the split headlights :astonished:

In that case they should use the word " 1st installments" rather than deposit.

Simpsons in Preston are doing this for £999 Deposit and £220 pm x 23 with zero admin fee. I was going to jump at it last week but its a minimum 12 week pre-order. 10K Miles.
marathonic to imiskeen
3 Oct 17 #7
I see their deal here:

Simpsons PCH

That's for 8000 miles per year which, through NVS, costs £5499.35 over the term. The Simpsons deal may have no admin fee but it still works out at £6096 over the term (or £596.65 more expensive).
imiskeen to marathonic
3 Oct 17 #12
Crikey!! Hold up - turns out I read your initial tittle wrong. I read it as £239 as the monthly payment. At £130 this is an Absolute STEAL...!!!! Super Scorchio..!
imiskeen
3 Oct 17 #8
Here is a link to the deal. Just ask them to tailor the deposit down to £999 and increase the mileage in the monthly payments. It works out to roughly £220pm.

In my personal opinion the Simpson offer is way better because it reduces the initial outlay, thus reduces the price of GAP cover / deposit insurance required.

Oh. and its cheaper.

Very tempted to go for this with DSG. I'd ideally like the estate but they seem more expensive than the deals posted last week, it seems the hatchback has been reduced significantly but not the estate.

Perfect for when my existing lease goes back!

With respect, most people who go for the best lease deals posted on this website are normally quite savvy. They don't tend to be people who need everything done for them like having to google the price of the car.

Does anyone know if any lease companies allow you to use/trade in your old car as part of the deposit?
Mada06 to rehydrated
3 Oct 17 #26
No as the lease company will source the car from a dealer, they don't want to be involved with part exchanges. Anyway, why would you want to do this? You'd get a much better price selling privately.

3 Oct 17 #27
Doesn't this car have a fake exhaust?
pcs7038 to komi
3 Oct 17 #28
Not sure exactly what you mean. There is a growing trend, particularly for performance trims, to have trapezoidal shapes in or below the rear bumper with conventional circular exhausts behind. Some are single exhaust; others, like this are twin.
32163859-wgkfh.jpgIf you think that is a fake exhaust, then yes.

No it doesn't, petrol vRS models have two exhausts, one on each side same as the Golf GTi.

The diesel vRS has a fake exhaust.

Estate is better but prices still high. Dsg box isn't the greatest in these and a lot better in manual transmission.

3 Oct 17 #30
Is this through VWFS?

If so may be cheaper to take the lowest mileage on offer and pay excess at the end as its 6.2p+vat per mile.

Haven't done the figures on this deal but worth checking if you're interested in it.

"Badge matters in your line of work" it does not matter at all that's just you being vain.

As it happens, you are in luck VAG will do you the same car for several thousand more with Vanity Wagon badges on it, or for even more again with some vanity rings on the front.

To be honest, my experience between Seat and Skoda is that between equivalent models that the Skoda will tend to just be a little better put together. Plastics being a slightly higher quality, stitching slightly nicer looking. Lots of the insides will be pretty much the same, a few key features will differ but overall there's not a lot to argue between the two brands. Seat is considered the bottom of the VAG range of brands, Skoda occupying the spot above that (in theory according to the motoring press).

For me the Cupra looks amazing, sounds nice and it's a decent price, but frankly it's not the most practical car in the world. It works for most things, but the Skoda offers a little more niceness, a good deal more room and pretty much the same basic experience inside the car. Plus when it comes to deals you seem to consistently get better deals on the Skoda range so £4£ if buying at a dealer the equivalently specified Skoda tends to be more expensive, but when you look at where you find the real deals with leasing, then we see a big difference that Seat just seem to always be more expensive comparing like for like pricing on cars equipped the same.

I did my first ever lease last april when the Vauxhall astra deal was on here £119 a month for a 1.4 turbo elite with nav

I know a lot of people cant get their heads around leasing regarding having nothing to show for it at the end of the 2 or 3 years but when my lease comes to an end next year it will have cost me about £4k inc a service and gap insurance,
But I look at it another way if I had walked into my main dealer last year and purchased a brand new astra which had a list price of £20k only to see the same main dealer selling pre reg elite's for just over £14k a few months later I would of been gutted to say the least.

The astra wasn't my first choice of car but its been excellent, good on fuel and comfortable on long trips I don't think I will bother buying secondhand cars again .

As for this deal I'm tempted but my lease still has over 6 months to go so could I delay delivery till end of april or should I wait till the new year ?
By the way the estate is available for £142 a month based on 8k a year which is plenty for me

am new to leases, how does the maths work out compared to buying new, can you buy at the end, if so what sort of price, or is it best to walk away.

4 Oct 17 #70
No you can't usually buy at the end. Compared to buying a new car the cost is very comparable. Compared to buying a pre-owned car it will usually be considerably more expensive, unless you choose a stock special which can often be heavily discounted.

If a 3 year old car works for you, it will probably be a fair bit cheaper than leasing.

Dammit! I signed up for last month's deal about a week ago. Phoned up NVS and tried to get them to change my rate but they would only agree to let me cancel my current deal and sign up for the new one (thus costing me the £239.99 admin fee I have already paid). Have 3 more days on my cooling off period so may try a few main dealers to see if any will make me a better offer before I cancel.

Edit: can't believe chauffeur was missed out!

To broaden the scope a little bit, which you seem to have trouble doing: a British business man or representative may exclusively deal with German imports. He may be required to go above and beyond his own culture and host business-men, their families, take them out.

Even more relevant would be doing business - or working in any integral part of it where picking up customers, meeting with them, or hosting them is a factor - with just about any Far-East Asian country [[China]] where "face" is an absolutely critical factor in doing business; car and badge will matter on nearly every deal where it's seen.

You seem to think it was initially to do with his ego/perception, that alone is a good enough base to understand the implications it can have in careers. Ego, perception and class stereotypes go a long way, with a lot money.
OrribleHarry
4 Oct 17 #73
That all depends who your clients are, HM Government for example all that type of bribery stuff is a strict no no, it would cost you the contract.

You are correct it was a dig at the way he dismissed a Skoda as it simply wasn't good enough for him, came across as really arrogant.

The type of industries you described supply the car and expense accounts for the purpose.
aeokas
4 Oct 17 #74
Well, it's face and soft coercion, not strictly bribery and happens all over the world. HM government contracts are really a different kettle of fish, I'm talking real, unadulterated, human business. HM government contracts are probably, usually, relatively small compared to what goes on in the wider world -- and definitely have no capacity for commission (besides corruption).

I stick with the argument that badge and car can matter, in a lot of careers and roles.

A business may or may not supply the car. A business may or may not choose it for you. A business may or may not expense it for you. A business may be a sole proprietor.

4 Oct 17 #76
Nail on head mate

There's no arrogance on my part. I said it was a great deal but in my line of work, image is everything. It wins business. As much as that is not the real me in my personal life (Im a Star Wars and retro gaming geek) am afraid that's just how the corporate world works. Besides, I don't think my fellow directors would be delighted if I banked our sizable car allowances and spent it on a Skoda.

Like I said earlier, this was a personal view but for some reason that Henry guy really took offence and really wanted to discuss. A bit odd to be honest but I guess this site does throw up some oddballs from time to time.

Leasing is all new to me. Basically this costs about £50 a week. Does it include insurance, road tax, breakdown or any other running cost you have to pay if you own a car
Guzzle
4 Oct 17 #79
Insurance is not included. Servicing and tyres will only be included if you take out a maintenance contract.

Breakdown cover and road tax (VED) are usually both included but you should always check.
RCUK
5 Oct 17 #80
Servicing and tyres works out at about £400 over the 2yrs when i enquired.

Given it will prob need a set of fronts (depending how you drive) and a service - probably break even at least, but will help with budgetting.

Servicing also covers things like wiper blades, brakes etc.
