I believe it hasnt got a true 10 bit panel. Its a 8 + 2bit panel. It didnt put me off buying it though. Ive really enjoyed owning it so far.

Cheers, I was previously steered away from non-10bit panels but after seeing both types side by side, I think I could live with 8+2 for the price difference.

Yeah I didn't go in to any shops to look at the sets. I literally went off specs when I bought mine. I knew I wanted a '4k' set but more towards the cheaper end and this was probably the best I could find at what I was willing to spend. Since buying it, I treated myself to a PS4 Pro and it does look quite good on this set.

Nice, I recently upgraded to a PS4 Pro so I'm keen to check out the HDR since my current set doesn't support it :disappointed:

Neither does this one to any extent. It doesn't have a wide gamut backlight or local dimming so you won't see the richer colours or enhanced contrast.
That's true for everything else at this price though, and aside from that it's a decent enough TV. The main annoyance for me would be that Samsung puts adverts in the TV's interface.
Yeah, it's a minor refinement for the very top end. I don't know why some people are so keen on it. I guess they see 10-bit colour depth in the spec sheet and think it's something to do with HDR's 10-bit colour depth, but they're actually different ranges.

Got 2 Samsung 'smart' TV's (an old D7000 & newer K5600) and not once have I seen an advertisement - because I'm not daft enough to click 'agree to all' on the terms and conditions in the settings. Does not stop any of the smart hub functions that I use.
To check settings and turn off --- i.e. on the K series it's under the settings menu Settings-->Support-->Terms & policy-->Internet based advertisements --- make sure the I agree box it's not ticked do the same for 'Viewing Information services' - collects viewing history etc
People really need to RTFM sometimes ;-)

Quite good isnt enough, I need 10bit HDR with 4K and not an RGBW panel, no banding and fully backlit.... I dont even know what half of that does but I've been told on here thats what I MUST have!! :raised_hand:

Heads up. AO price match to other companies. Looking on price spy I found it for £659.00 (electricaldiscountuk.co.uk//st…e0c) so if you do the above method and price match, youll get it even cheaper. I did this with AO on this exact set a month or two ago. Combining it with a Samsung redemption deal, I got the set for around £550.

Yeah I rang up and did it over the phone. The website has to have the TV in stock (which it has). When I ordered mine, I used RGB Direct to price match, but they were out of stock before. Only just realised though that the code is an online code. Hmm.

If you're going to use HDR then the Sony 49XE9005 (was a deal on it posted for £1047 earlier) is one of the few TVs in that price range that actually provides a good HDR experience.
If you're mostly watching broadcast TV or other sources that won't utilise HDR any time soon, you might as well save some money, and something like this Samsung would be a fine choice.

Yeah and I have seen that another company is offering it cheaper. AO claim they will offer the price difference if you find it cheaper in the next 7 days elsewhere so will try my luck!

Can confirm that AO.com accepted CSSupliers Price of £649 and the TECHRADAR40 code over the phone to bring the TV down to £609. Then £50 cashback direct from AO will bring down to £559.
