What is the view on this Samsung compared to the LG 27UD68P ? Is it worth the extra? (see amazon.co.uk/LG-…tor)

Nice monitor so heat added. I'm currently considering the Acer Predator 27" as although it's 1440p rather than 4K, it has 144Hz refresh, G-sync and it's an IPS panel so it's a better all rounder for my needs of gaming, work and the occasional Netflix viewing. It's £400 over at Amazon so a good alternative to this but as always it's horses for courses with Monitors. I'd have to say subjectively though that the design of this samsung is a lot more pleasant on the eye.

I wouldn't bother with it for anything. For gaming, you're better off with a lower res 144Hz panel. For anything else, you're better with IPS. I'm not sure what application this panel would actually be optimal for.

That's pretty subjective, many games especially turn based and strategy benefit more from the increased resolution than going above 60 FPS.
You also have people plugging it into consoles such as the PS4 Pro or Xbox One X which won't benefit from 144Hz but will from 4k.

Great price, does it have built in speakers or a pass through?

The only down side is the max 60Hz
I might go for this.

well its 4K, i dont think any pc is capable of playing gaming at higher refresh rate yet. and i dont think any 4K 120/144 hertz monitor exist on the market yet. and they probably cost more than a grand.
i wonder if it does higher refresh rate at lower res like 1080/1440p tho

It is max 60hz regardless of res unfortunately. Id like to use it 120 @ 1440 and use the 4k for films.
