Rang up and told the blue would definitely be Despatched in 2-3 days. Very tempted to get this but I don't use my phone for much and my p9 lite and £8 plusnet sim is doing okay.
A better camera would be nice tho

Just a heads up, I attempted to pick up a glass screen protector......not that easy!!
They sent one out but it was 1-2 mm short of the whole screen.
The screens edge is slightly curved.
I'm trying amazon for one that states curved, hoping that will fit :-/

Interesting - they've updated their website today so say 'delivered in 2-3 days' (still 1-2 for silver) so there seems to be some wires crossed somewhere?

Well hopefully the website is correct, when I sent the question in yesterday it was still saying 1-2 weeks.

Looking at the 8 has now got me wanting the Nokia 9, but only if that comes out before Xmas.

Well I ended up ordering one of these. My son's EE sim only contract is up very soon (4gb + unlim minutes and texts) so he can have the 3 sim and I will stick my own 3 sim in it. I pay £9/month for him so that drops the cost of this to me to £312 and given that the Quidco has just tracked at £40 it will be £272. A bloody amazing bargain in my book. And if Nokia deliver on their security updates and O & P promises this will be like having a Nexus again. Nokia (HMD) should allow for bootloader unlocking and support the dev community, it would create a lot of love with us nerds. Oh and it has two years full resolution google photo back up like the pixels.

For those worried about the camera quality its worth noting that the Pixel Camera APK has been known to work on the Nokia 8.

Yes, it's a very vanilla android so very similar to the nexus or pixel phones Google make.

Alvie to refaey
8 Oct 17#45
Nowadays top of the line mainstream smartphones are generally £800 to £1000.
Also that amount of minutes, texts and data you get would run you about £216 - £240.
Effectively making the phone £312, which is amazing for the hardware packed inside. Also, it is unlocked as with other phones from Three so use another SIM in it or sell it on more easily. CeX are offering £290 for it at the moment.

Why would you compare a phone that retails at £500 to another that costs at least £700? For that cost difference you can get a half decent compact that will easily outperform any smartphone camera to date.

I'm afraid not. Had an OP5 and sent it back because the camera was so bad, no OIS so most photos were blurry.

Great deal, sim alone is £9 per month phone is £489 so should be approx £705 over 24 month and getting for £488 if you include the £40 topcashback. ( free sim for 2 years)
Great spot :sunglasses:
htslough to steveofraser
7 Oct 17#37
Sorry don't understand your math.
I make this deal to be as follows:
If SIM alone is £9 per month, then the phone element works out at £22-£9=£13
£13 per month X 24 = £312.
Quidco tracked that's £312 - £40 = £272.
So basically the Nokia 8 is costing less than £300 for what has a normal RRP of £500.
That is a crazy bargain for a proper high end phone with Snapdragon 835 cpu, 4Gb ram, 64gb ROM + microsd slot, dual rear 13MP and front 13MP cameras, pure stock android with fast updates, decent 1-2 days battery life and most importantly 3.5mm headphone jack!
Doubt it will drop below £300 SIM free anytime soon so this is a damn good deal.
Only negative is that 3 essential SIM doesn't include tethering, so I'm giving the SIM to my mum (who needed a sim upgrade anyway) and I'll stick my plusnet SIM in this.
Ordered blue one last night, ETA 1-2 weeks.
Can't wait.
Heat added for best mobile deal this year.

How much is your mid range phone contract? This is cheap for the spec of phone hence the heat and comments. Most phones coming out are 800-1000 quid without 2 years unlimited texts, calls and 4gb data.

This deal should be hotter. The contract alone is worth £10pm on sim only. So your getting a £500 phone for £12pm (£288). You can't get close to that with an S8 or G6
If only Nokia were willing to sell these at that sort of price sim free (or even £50 more). They'd fill the gap in the market left by the hiked nexus / one plus phones.

Thanks @northbank1886 . I've taken the plunge and ordered (but went for blue, so it won't be here for a while anyway).
A bit of online digging suggested that phones bought from resellers often lock to the network of the first SIM inserted (which in my case won't be 3, it'll be O2 - Mrs pledmonds will use the 3 SIM).
