Bought this a while ago as the incremental options save so much time. Surprising to see it licenced for business use, good on them. A Manchester based company as well so you're helping keep people in jobs in the UK if you do buy it.

Used this at home and was so impressed that I paid for a licensed copy at work. Saved my life when an install of a Microsoft product totally screwed up my work laptop network settings. I had been doing daily image backups with Macrium so only took 30 minutes to restore the 500gb SSD. It's really good for when you want to transfer a hard drive to an SSD too. 30+ years working in IT, not many products impress me but this one did.

The restrictions on commercial use are as follows. Seems fair enough and sensible.
Covers making backups of single machines and restored to the same PC (or a replacement PC in the case of hardware failure). Rescue media must be created on the PC to be restored.
This specifically excludes the following:
Repair shop scenario, where Macrium Reflect is used to copy the contents of a hard disk to a new device.Deployment scenario, where Macrium Reflect is used to copy a 'golden image' to multiple PCs.

I have two partitions on the same drive (C: (OS) and D: (Userdata). Can I tell it to only back-up the C: partition ?

Good product, used free home edition many times, just wish they made the purchased edition more affordable for home use, perhaps without tech support. The gap between payed and free edition is too big.

This for me as well. I want to buy the home version but it's too much for the features compared with the free version.
I did license the Technical edition in a previous job which was not cheap but a justifiable business cost.

Ask if they have any discount codes on the facebook page, I got one last year.

Great product, use if frequently when cloning hard drives, seems to work more reliably than Acronis or EaseUS.

I'm just installing this (the free Home edition) and on the very first install screen it says that this is a 30 day trial (unless I enter a licence key). So this isn't really free??

The post is for the 'Free' Edition - so if you select that version from the drop down menu (it appears as the default download) there should be no restrictions. I'm downloading now so will edit this response if I find otherwise.

In that case I have no idea - it installed fine for me

Why should I use Macrium instead of just using windows filehistory backup?

Reflect is a very powerful peice of software. Its scope is far beyond any windows backup function.

It lacks a spell-checker, though.

Everytime I reinstalled Windows, it was a pain to reinstall all the drivers and software. With Macrium, I created a image with everything. Now, if anything causes Windows to misbehave. I just deploy the image and I am back in business !

Doesn't work with Linux.
I used to use Hirens Boot CD which used to have Acronis which was great, not tried this but may give it a go.

I've used Acronis. Macrium is better.

You boot from the recovery media and backup a Linux installation.

The other thing I like about this product is the ability to right mouse on the backup image file and mount it as a drive letter. You can then copy individual files you may wish to restore.

Just in time for me to help upgrade a friend's SSD to a larger capacity. Reflect has been the least hassle free solution I've come across.

I'll have a look at this. I set up the Easus software a while ago but never bothered again. I've got the Windows backup thingy running but I think this may well mean I can get rid of both.

Saved my bacon on many occasions. Bought an external hard drive, and just have my Macrium copy just incase. It's the easiest recovery method

I've used Macrium Reflect a few times when upgrading a PC to an SSD, works flawlessly. I've also used it when taking a windows install and turning it into a VM.

I've got a paid for Macrium Reflect v6. Is a free v7 better?
What is the difference between paid and free versions, of v7? (I didn't even know they had free versions.)

You should be able to upgrade for a discount, it cost me about £17 when 7 was released. 7 is better and has more features, being able to mount an image as a VM has saves me hassle when I needed to deactivate software I had forgot to do.Also changed block tracking means a restore is bloody fast if you are going back a day or 2 (I do daily incrementals as it is quick)
Speed for one. I can restore over the network in as little as 10 minutes due to the rapid delta restore only restoring what's changed.

HEAT! This is very, very good. I'm still on v6, I haven't tried v7 yet.
To those asking can it do this, can it do that, why is this better. Just try it. This was the only one that could correctly handle partition shrinking, MBR copy, etc. for me a few years ago and I've stuck with it since.

I used Macrium many years ago, and it failed to restore an image ... some wacky error code. AOMEI Backupper is now my image backup software of choice (very good free version) which also has a PXE Boot option, so you can restore on another machine on the network without any boot media. It also has scheduler and incremental backups.

Many years ago I would have agreed with you as when it was a fledgling product that wasn't great but now it is rock solid.
I used to use AOMEI Backupper too but after 3 sequential failed restores I switched back to Macrium when it reached v6 and have restored dozens of times without a hitch.
One of the key features that should always be used is to select the verify option because whilst a backup process may seem to complete, the quality of the backup storage can result in a corrupt backup.
Verification at least gives more confidence in the integrity of an image.
