There are a lot of posts for the odd free book and thought I'd share the list of sites I have bookmarked on my browser that I use when looking for free books. I have also included links that I use for software, films and music.
Hope you find them useful ....
Free Books
Project Gutenberg - Began in 1971 by Michael Hart as a community project to make plain text versions of books available freely to all. All Classic ebooks. gutenberg.org/
Freebook Sifter - Choose a site e.g Amazon and a list of free books by category can be viewed freebooksifter.com/
DailyFreeBooks - List of free kindle ebooks which are promoted free of charge by the author or publisher for that day. uk.dailyfreebooks.com/
ereaderiq - View free or cheap ebooks or ebooks recently dropped in price. Search is customisable and you can even set up email alerts! uk.ereaderiq.com/
Many thanks for links. Also the website thefreecountry.com has some useful free software, used it lots in the past.

They are a list of the newsgroups subjects, just find one that looks interesting and read the news on it (articles posted by people interested in the subject who are posting questions and answers, every now and then someone will post a link to the newsgroup FAQ, which gives answers to the most frequent questions. It takes a bit of getting used to as it`s text only.

I click on this and then type into the search bar and it just comes up with a list of Google groups. Not sure what I should be doing exactly jasee?

I`m surprised no one has mentioned the newsgroups (usenet) the original forums founded over 20? years ago covering almost every subject under the sun. With their FAQs (frequently asked questions) Now sometimes outdated. If your ISP still allows you may be able to connect to directly (for the non binary groups) or directly through google itools.com/too…rch
I'd like to know this too, it's caused some to be terrible. While I'm grateful it can convert etc I wish I could figure out how to fix the formatting issues I encounter.

Surprised amazon wasn't in the list, especially as they make the kindle. Coincidentally I am reading The Black House which is number 4 in the freebie list

I personally find that pdf books are not converted perfectly to epub or mobi formats. If anybody knows a trick to do it in a suitable format. I observed the bullet points and headings gets misaligned

I've just tried to take a look at a few books on OnlineTechBooks and every single one of them has give me an "ooops not available" response
Most libraries offer access to free audio and e books via apps. Visit your local library and ask, it’s free to join.

Annoyingly though, some (all?) aren't supported by Kindles so you need to buy another e reader. Amazon not wanting a threat to their bottom line I guess.

Like thread above says use calibre-ebook.com/ to convert your your desired file type. calibre-ebook.com/dow…ows Don't know how to do it without a pc. If you have an older Kindle like me you can convert to Mobi files. On newer Kindles convert to AZW3 file types. I think the latter are bigger files and take longer to convert.

Bookbub is one I use, one daily email and you can customise your preferences and set up alerts for authors etc. You can also browse the site if you don't want the email.
Thanks for this, you deserve many degrees of heat for this.

Hi guys, Just recommending an app, if you guys use multiple devices for reading.
I now use Bookari, I've found it to be perfect for my cloud saving - especially for getting back into the page I was recently on whilst on the train reading on my mobile, then back at home on my tablet.
There are many good apps out there but from all the ones I've tried, this came out on top.
Great list by the way!!

It can be, but you just need to be smart. If you're downloading a .PDF file for example and you get a .EXE, then don't open it. This won't happen if you only download from trusted uploaders though and if you want further peace of mind, check the comments section.
I use this to convert .TXT, .EPUB and .PDF to .MOBI (Kindle format) It's very easy to use, just drag and drop the eBook in to it, and convert it to your preferred format.

Quick question I have tried looking for free PDF books on google and certain sites come up but they ask me to sign up to a months free trial (probably too good to be true I'm thinking)? E.g. Maths on target 4 Thank you
Thank you. Already knew of Gutenberg and ereaderiq, I use it to track prices of books I want on amazon, it is a great web site. I will find dailyfreebooks and freereadfree useful.
